I would absolutly get this SONY BDP-S370 Blu-Ray Player instead of of Memorex. It has a satisfying reviews rating.

I bought an earlier Memorex Blu Ray player here on Woot. It's construction quality was high, and it worked well for a time. But... BIG "but"... Memorex was slow on firmware updates, and after about a year stopped providing them altogether. Without firmware updates players no longer will play new discs. I would not buy another Memorex for this reason (or any non mainstream brand of blu ray player)

I had one of these, biggest POS I've ever bought. It has terrible reviews (for a good reason); skips all the time and refuses to play some blu rays and normal DVD's. Avoid like the plague. Replaced with a Sony asap.

This is a different model than offered here on Woot!.

Too many unhappy people in reviews at Amazon. Mostly firmware upgrades!

Looked on Amazon and Newegg - many, many people not happy with this unit. Just sayin'... I won't touch it.

in conclusion, if you use HDMI and live in the USA, this internet-capable bluray player is a great deal and performs really well. if you use composite cables to hook up a bluray player, you are just as silly as the manufacturer who put that capability on there in the first place (have fun with 256 to 480 scanlines and the inability to watch anything requiring hdcp).

Last time I purchased a "memorex" blue ray player I was very dissapointed. The company firmware support sucks and the player operates very slowly. At least this one has wifi...

It works great. I stream through a Memorex Blu-Ray player that cost $119 at Wal-Mart, and also to an iPad. Both are using 802.11G, which is plenty fast enough.

WOOPS - MY BAD

Bought earlier Memorex model on Woot. After just a year Memorex abandoned firmware updates, result is half of BD disks wont play. Sold it for a $1 on garage sale. Wont buy any player from them again.

Sony Style has a refurb BDP-S270 for $70. It does not have wifi, but is probably a better player.

There's no mention of which regions it plays. Is this multi-region, or is it only region 1?

I got one of these from Target for Christmas. It works well enough. I think i paid 130 or so for it. When i set up the wireless it updated everything right away. Only issue i've had is it locks up every once in a while. nothing a hard reboot doesn't fix. The lock ups were always at first power up. never during playback. That's a good price for it.

I stream Netflix via wi-fi G through my Wii. Netflix does fine this way. Their caching is seamless.

I have one of these units. I received it as an xmas present, and I will tell you honestly, it is the worst POS I have ever seen. I have updated the firmware, but it is the slowest to load, noisy, and generally unreliable. It has gone back to Memorex for "service" and still takes forever for it to load up. It got so bad that now it lives in my spare bedroom, ready to annoy in-laws when the come to visit. I replaced this unit with a Sony, and I could not be happier with it.

Hopefully some who buy this will have better luck with it than I have.

How's the upconversion? And why does my browser say that the word "upconversion" is misspelled? How does it think I should spell "upconversion"?

I recently started using Netflix, streaming on my Wii over wi-fi. The picture is as good as the non-HD channels on cable. Very little caching time required.

Hey tool maybe you need to learn to read. Review #2 specifically says "Other Thoughts: I purchased this unit from Newegg.ca (ie Canada)" so yea, someone buying it in Canada might expect it to work with Netflix Canada.

And having a problem with using an HDMI cable doesn't mean they have a problem with copyright protection. If I got this it would be for a tv without an HDMI input. One large reason to get it would be for the Netflix streaming with potential to one day upgrade the tv. So your "quality post" is a quality fail.

It doesn't work that way. It uses it's ethernet connections, Cabled & WiFi, to stream the Netflixs and Pandora stuff.

Your quality of picture is based on your download speed. If you have good, fast connection, the quality will rival a dvd. If your connection is poor, it automatically downloads a lesser quality picture that your speed can handle without interuptions....

I bought a wireless Insignia (Best Buy brand) a year ago for under $100 and it plays xvid, divx, and mkv.

Please stop talking about the LG BD-570. I researched current blu-ray players before christmas and decided this one was the absolute bomb-diggity - and Amazon even had it listed around $124 (before they sold out). Now it's not available anywhere for less than $150 (usually $180). Forget about the LG. Buy this one. Thank you.

Also, for anyone who cares; the wireless N does not support 5ghz wireless.

The Oppo's will but you'll pay a premium for them. I've never had a DVD (non-blu ray) that's as reliable and awesome as the Oppo I bought here from woot. Now if only woot would get a Blu ray Oppo for us...

I've had nothing but problems with other electronics from Memorex. Poorly built with cheap parts that break after a month if it lasts that long. Would never buy anything from Memorex again. I have an LG blu-ray player and TV and have had no problems with them at all.

Does anyone know how long it takes to boot up to get to the Apps Screen?

I have a Vizio blu ray and it is frustrating to wait for a Blu Ray disc to load or to get to the Netflix apps to load...

Looking for a BluRay that loads faster.
