Anyone mount this on an LCD TV? I'm having a hard time gauging the depth of the 'fixture'.

It'd be nice if I could swivel it out of the way when not in use, but use it for Skype periodically. Not having to worry about yelling into a computer mike across the room would be a plus.

That would be a male to male connection, the Ipad is listening and the mic/cam would also be listening.

tis a no go

dliidlii wrote:How is the microphone alone worth $40 when you can buy this item for $35 new with free shipping on amazon.Woots price is good but why would anyone pay over $40 for the microphone rather than the $35 amazon price for the combination?

I bought my snowflakes from Amazon for around $50 within the last few years. It had more chrome, but looks pretty much the same. The eyeball was recently more than $40--I know, because I had to replace a snowball, and shopped the eyeball. If I could have gotten one for the price you quote, Id have bought it.

Looks easy enough to use even for a non-techie college instructor. So my question is: can I use this for recording onto power point presentations allowing my online students to view the power point slides and hear my lecture/explanations? Thanks.

For those wondering about iPad use, I'm still not sure that the iPad would properly register the device for use, but what you'd want to try is the "iPad Camera Connection Kit". Which isn't designed for webcams, but rather to put digital pictures from a camera onto the iPad. Luckily, many people have found that this kit seems to allow many other peripherals as well.

I bought one last time it was on woot! I've used it exclusively for skype chatting, but it has been great! for the price, you wont be able to find a better mic/webcam combo, and it is essentially plug and play, no excessive installation required. I highly recommend this product for people who want to skype chat and do not have a camera/mic built into their computer.

The video is not great, as others have said. The mic, though, IS. It is the same mic as the Blue Snowflake, and this would be a great price for the Blue Snowflake alone, without the video capability. If you need a small USB mic for travel, this is a no brainer. I do also plan to use the video occasionally, as I can position it at different angles than I can with a camera built into my computer.

Pretty much all mics record mono. Especially web cam or USB mics.

Amazon reviews for the Blue Snowflake are not persuasive.

I don't know about everyone else, but the snowflake does an EXCELLENT job for me. Great coverage, great range, makes it seem like you are in the same room with the speaker. Wonderful with skype. Would never consider using another. I am not a blue "fanboy", and wouldn't be this strong in support unless I really believed in the product. It is that good.

Bought 2 and they came in today. Video quality is horrible, looks like I'm getting about 10 frames a second. I'll try with some better lighting but I'm very dissapointed so far. Audio is input is very low, had to crank up the input volume on my machine to hear anything. I'm assuming the mic is really built for close quarters recording, not really for a webcam 2 feet away...

Got my 3 webcams in the mail today. The video is whatever - about the same quality as any cheapie webcam. My logitech quickcam pro 9000 is so much better.

The audio, on the other hand, is CLEAR AND PHENOMENAL. I made some recordings with the logitech quickcam pro 9000 in audacity; they were audible, but not clear and had a bit of an echo. I recorded some stuff in audacity with the blue eyeball - top notch stuff, very clear, and sounds about as good as a lot of the podcasts I listen to. I did have to bump up the input volume though, since it was pretty quiet at first.

So in summary, terrible video quality, but awesome mic quality. Very good for my use since I needed this thing to teach classes online via webcast.

Huh, contrary to what most people say, my video quality is actually decent, if not good. In the morning to afternoon, my webcam can easily reach the 30 fps mark.

I heard it doesn't function well for Macs, and artificial lights do not work well with the webcam. The best way to get fps for the webcam is from sunlight, turning on electric lights won't affect the fps and overall quality of the webcam much. For this reason, my webcam is not very good at night. If your computer is far away from any sunlight, then I guess that may be a reason why your fps is somewhat low.

And yes, the sound is amazing.

Got my eyeball today and just set it up. Wow, I am the furthest thing from being a videophile, but this camera sux. My old and I mean old cheapy logitech stx webcam that I also think sux, is actually much better.

Not only is my Blue Eyeball great with Skype calls, picking up voices from various distances, but WITHIN 24 hours someone from their company returned my call asking for help, and IMHO that's awesome!

Help, please. I've never had an order go missing before, but I'm afraid this one has. It shows as "delivered," but I don't recall receiving it. Who do I contact to check for it? Is that even worth trying, since it shows as "delivered?"

Thanks for any assistance.

I got mine late last week and tried out some recordings over the weekend.
Yes, it's mono, not stereo, but it performs quite well and sounds great!

I bought it primarily for the mic, but I was pleasantly surprised by the video quality it has. The camera works every bit as good as the 2mp camera built into my laptop, and is nearly as good as my nice Logitech camera. I had clear, full resolution, 30 fps video without any issues at all. It's worth noting that my desk area is well lit, so I don't know if it would struggle badly in a poorly lit situation or not.
