we are in for a pack- for our pack!
and don't forget to put that dog hair outside for all the nesting birds this spring. It'll make ya feel great knowing that Fido's fuzz is keeping those little hatchlings cozy.

Just bought 3. We have a furminator but I have no idea where it is. A few of these can walk and we'll have back ups.

I can't believe I bought 3....and neither will my husband...

You may want to hire someone that actually knows how to run a site.

That sounds like a rejection from the gateway (credit card processing) site - not Woot itself.

My 2¢ on the Furminator is: they remove a lot of hair, dogs and cats both enjoy it. But in the days following a good furmination, they produce huge clumps of more fur... it just falls off in giant mats or handfuls. You can use the furminator again and remove it, but this only extends the problem. It appears to me that, somehow, the furminator causes hair loss.

They don't really "eject" the hair like the commercial says.

Can you compare it to the furminator? I think I paid right under 20 for one of those, but it works so well

In for 3. They're unexpensive, and they've got to be better than the garden rake I'm currently using for my black labs. They don't like it too much.

I accidentally only ordered 1 and I want 2. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've checked all over woot and sent a message with no reply yet. I'm really hoping to fix this.

It's not torturous at all. Not only did my cat love it, but I like it as well. Because the needles are blunt and flexibly mounted, they don't puncture the skin, or even create a dent. And the fact that there are so many pins so close together, there simply isn't much force applied to each needle. It's the same principle that allows Indian fakirs to lie on a bed of nails. All in all, I find the feeling very stimulating.

I used to work at a grooming salon, and I wouldn't recommend these for short haired or double coated breeds. They might work fine for most cats, though.

I'm a little bummed because I've been waiting for a pet related woot for a while, but I'll have to pass on this one. Rubber/curry brushes are the only way to go with a Great Dane! They're much better for grabbing short, dense hairs.

I usually don't comment on woot but, these are the best brushes (or slickers) I have ever used. My Corgis and long haired Norwegian Forest Cat really get cleaned well and they release hair very well...

I want to know who is using these things successfully on double coated dogs. I have a Samoyed and I send her to a professional twice a year for grooming because she hates to be combed. I've tried everything from Furminator to regular plastic combs and she just won't tolerate having her fur pulled and tugged. I can't blame her, when I was a kid my mom used to yank out the snarls in my butt length hair and I'd cry too. My dog will sit there long enough for me to detangle and smooth her on a regular basis, but during spring coat blow, forget it, I'd be grooming her an hour a day and we'd both hate our lives. This is a dog who can easily produce two full trash bags of fur every season.

I have a Norwegian Elkhound and use the Furminator on her. She begins to loose clumps of her undercoat around Fall and Spring (she's my very own groundhog with the weather) and that brush works great.

These slicker style brushes are ok for pets without a thick coarse undercoat. Personally, I use the Furminator. It's way more expensive so not really fair to compare it to these brushes, but you really can't beat the Furminator when used properly. (Yes, you can get carried away and remove too much hair, on cats especially. But it grows back and you learn not to be so enthusiastic next time.)

no these do not work on huskys (Owner of 2 present, have had at least 2 for more than 15 years) but the other one with wire bristles works great. You just need to do it at least weekly. Since they pull the bottom hair out it seems like it isn't working, but be consistant and it will. You will realize how much less they scratch (if they do because they have dry skin so bad.)It takes forever because the brushes are small, and only take a little hair out at a time.

The reason the hair falls out in clumps is because the furminator works so that it pulls the hair from the bottom first, leaving nothing for the shedding hair ontop to hold on too. So it falls out, then you use the furminator and start all over again. Though it does work it's a lot of it.

Shipping took a lot longer than usual, and then took even longer. As a result, some customers went postal in the discussion forum - I assume because they are internet-alarm-clock-based-life-units who were going to expire if they didn't receive their Dash in a timely manner. Woot apologetically provided a credit to everyone involved.

Could you explain what you mean, if you happen to come back and see this?

I have a Samoyed, which is a northern climate dog that looks sort of like a large bag of cotton balls exploded. Sams are double coated for sure but I don't understand what you mean by a thick, coarse undercoat. If anything, my girl's undercoat is very soft and smooth, almost like down from birds. It's dense as hell, but soft, soft, soft. Whereas the outer fur is much more coarse and definitely not as dense nor as soft.

When she blows her coat in the spring, it's the dense underneath fur that comes out, several trash bags full of the stuff. It loosens up and you can literally pull out handfuls of it at a time, you just keep pulling and the fur keeps coming. The problem in grooming is that to be able to pull out all the loose underneath fur, I have to go through the outer fur, which tends to be longer and can tangle easily and get debris caught in it. I have a large property and often Alpine comes trotting back into the house sporting half a sticker bush attached to her coat.

It's the detangling of her outer coat that she hates so much. But without doing that first, I can't get down to the loose fur that needs to be removed when she blows coat. The only thing I've tried that actually works is tying her to a chainlink fence and spritzing her down with hair conditioner so I can comb out her outer fur without making her cry for two hours straight. After that it's a fairly easy process to remove the loose stuff.

We only use the Furminator on our Husky when she is shedding. We use the Pet Zoom or a rake for normal weekly brushing. We've found that doing that works well to keep the coat nice when we bathe her.

I have a Furminator, and it works well, but my dog has a very fine undercoat that those kind of brushes miss (and they're hard to clean). The PetZoom brushes are super easy to clean, and they get all the crazy hairs that most brushes miss. In for 3 (Sets).

Go Furminator or go home.

I've combed out enough excess fur from my shepherd/chow mix Anabelle to stuff a complete livingroom set (including sofa, chaise longe, matching armchairs and ottomans) and a kingsize bed, and still have enough for a comforter and pillows.

That thing is scary effective.

Has anyone used these on a Boxer?

My Boxer is pretty sensitive to brushes.

Start out by feeding him a small amount of treats from one hand and brushing him with the other. Over time begin reducing the threats as you brush him. Eventually you will get to the point where he's excited each time you get the brush out and will enjoy the brushing alone.
