It tries to connect by scanning, then says "network available" over and over. If I ge closer, ir finds the network, then connecting and then assigning IP address and then disconnecting. Over and over.
If I can't connect for an OTA update, what good is this thing?
When XDA is back up, you can grab a stock ROM to at least get it to 3588 (not sure that it will help, but can't hurt). This is one of the things that I have literally complained about to Viewsonic since November - early ROMs had terrible Wifi, but you couldn't get the OTA upddate to fix it? Even Apple has offline updates, and they are crazy locked down.
In XDA, just go to my General legacy sticky, and you'll see a link for stock ROMs with instructions.
Also see my above Wifi post for some other tips.

But when I copy the update.zip to the root of the sdcard and do an install update from sdcard, it aborts telling me it can't open the file or folder(dont remember exactly). The file is on the sdcard though. I do not have that command file but I don't think we need it with clockwork?
Any suggestions?
Correct, you don't need the recovery folder at all for clockworkmod. You just need the ZIP file.
If you are going to stick with cwm, a suggestion: Create a subfolder on /sdcard called "backups" (or similar) and then just dump all the ROMs there. Then, when you use cwm to flash, just point it to that folder and flash the zip in question. Very helpful when swapping between ROMs.
I don't recommend TNT Lite with cwm only because it doesn't flash the bootloader. But, if you stick with 1.1-based mods (which is what all of them are, at the moment) then you should be OK, including TNT Lite 4.x. This could change in a week, though. Maybe.
