You can install cwm and you can do it without rebooting. Just read up on the "3588 Recovery Pack", it's built into TNT Lite 4.3.0+.

1) Say I purchased (& downloaded) a movie from Amazon, do I just copy it to the GTab & watch it? Or do I have to do something in between?
2) What if I try to root this myself & screw it up, can I somehow reset it back to the stock setup?
I'm not aware of ANY digital movie purchases that will work with Android. This is something that Apple has an advantage, over Google. Android has no DRM (digital right management) - it's also why things like Netflix are still pending.
Whether this is good or bad is up to the user, of course.
If you mess things up a little, you can get back to stock using the stock instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842000
If you mess up VERY badly, you'll need nvflash, instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950
thomaseak wrote:Incoming human Question: the SD card we can install via side port (up to 32gb it has been said)...umm, is that microSD, or microSDHC or micro-SD-something-or-other? I'm looking at newegg & see so many options, and so many I don't understand.
microSD(HC) - HC being the larger ones.
As an example, I own this one and it works fine: http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-32GB-microSDHC-Memory-Package/dp/B003WGJYCY/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1301761887&sr=8-7
Keep in mind that the device does NOT mount the microSD to your PC, so you'd want a microSD reader to copy files (it's the fastest way).
spokechuck wrote:Is there a ROM out there designed specifically for Tablets? Same goes with Apps.
I put on the VEGAN ROM (great instructions from Sean by the way!) and it looks like a cell phone. It it full of phone related items. Also, many of the apps look like they were designed for a phone (iphone vs ipad). Is there a way in the apps store to only look for apps designed for a tablet?
And the screen angle is really bad. Any slight body movement and what you're looking at goes bad. Thinking this is more of a gadget then a real tablet. Not ready to part with my ipad yet (looking forward to that day though!). Hopefully android tablet apps continue to develop.
Thanks for all the great info on here.
Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), but there's no mod for the GTAB, yet. The 3.0 App Store has a tablet-specific section, but it's pretty small right now. Will take time to grow, I suspect.
Agreed on the angles, it's the one thing I really dislike about my GTAB. Expect to see IPS screens this year, like the ASUS Transformer.
Siney wrote:Thanks roebeet, got it. The XDA post lists two versions, the internal.zip and the microsd.zip. Which one did I download from mediafire.com and where should I put it on the gtab, (I have a microsd card installed, 32 gb). What about........ Adobe_Flash_Player_10.1.120.1.apk, will I need it and where can I get it? I should have mentioned that I was logged into my account on the XDA site when I tried to download these files.
Mine was the internal one - the only difference is the "command" text file. Internal has "SDCARD" in the text and microSD has "SDCARD2" in the text, that's the only difference.
Flesh 10.1 is already dated, you want 10.2. If you mod it, you can get it from the Market. Or, you can grab it from my TNT Lite 4.3.0+ ROM - it's in /system/etc, in the update.zip file.

Secondly, I hate to show my ignorance but, other than that, I can't see much difference between the two "ROMs" - anyone have any pointers?
tmk, there's nothing in TNT Lite but that VEGAn security is not really useful. They are both rooted ROMs so, if your device was stolen, anyone with adb would be able to easily pull down all the info in the user data.
Biggest advantage to this device security wise might be the proprietary plug -- after awhile the battery will die and unless another GTAB is found, the person who stole it won't be able to power it on!
Try gADAM if you want a UI that's REALLY different from TNT Lite or VEGAn. Some people love it, some people hate it. But it is pretty unique.
rkjohnsjr wrote:i didnt root or mod, just updated to 3588...is there any way to get the android market installed, instead of this "gmarket" crap???
pls advise, thanks !
Check XDA as I think one user has a "3588 stock Enhancement Pack" - at least they did a week ago but it's probably buried now.
As for the menu, I think it's supposed to work but it could just be stock. I'm used to mods so it's hard for me to gauge stock too much, anymore. I heard others having issues like yourself, with stock.
