Android market is available through the browser so the missing app market app is not a problem. Also the amazon app market is online now. So really you have alot of choices when looking for apps..... Plus if you root, this thing will do whatever you want it to.

This is why this Tablet Rocks:

1. Its Dual Core
2. Its infinitly Hackable ( You can Flash to the latest android version).
3. Price.. Best Tablet Hardware, Expandable By adding a SDCARD, Dual Core.. Great Screen!

I Bought 4 for family members at Xmas. Just bought anotherone when i saw the price. LOVE it!

Why is it on Woot? Because the Original O.S. that Viewsonic Installed was Slow and clunky.. The Good news is that was quickly fixed via an Update. You just turn it on and it asks if you want to update.

Very cool, Tablet. Check out the XDA Forums. Just Bing it! (www.bing.com)

For FaceTime, yes. But there is an Android version of Words With Friends, and it lets you play with iOS users.

Do you have a link with instructions on installing a different ROM on this device? Is it the same method as rooting a color Nook?

Have been researching this and hoping for a price drop from online stores with the new tablets announced at CTIA. So glad I saw this and was able to snag one.

For those considering buying, the stock OS is atrocious. However, there is a strong development community (as others have noted) at XDA Developers.

Once you root the device you can install a mod of the Android OS, get Android market, and get Flash. This is $65 off the cheapest retail (J&R.com). Great deal.

No, it's manufactured by Malata which is part of the Chinese Walinda group. That said I imagine you'd be hard pressed to find any Android tablets manufactured here in the US but I wish you luck.

It's strange that this pad supports MP4 video files, but not the more stable M4V files.

I am cursed with ownership of a gTablet and I didn't even pay for it. A buddy of mine who bought it found it to be one of the most worthless devices ever out of the box. If you jailbreak the built in Android OS that's a different story but as delivered the only two apps that would run out the group we tried were Angry Birds and Angry Birds Seasons. Even Kindle would not work and it's about as basic as it comes. You don't get access to the proper Android Market, rather you get access to Handango (sp?) which fails epically in comparison. Every other tablet save the one they sell at Walgreens is better than this gizmo. Just burn your money instead.

My droid plays both, so I'd be really surprised if this didn't.

This is a killer deal. I bought a G-Tablet a couple of months ago for $380, and it was a steal at that price. I've shown it to iPad owners who quickly got buyer's remorse. If you get good instructions, the full root/ROM process should only take 15-20 minutes, and after that, you can do whatever you want to with it. Mine is running VEGAn Froyo, and it really screams.

Anyone know if there is potential to expand the RAM on this unit? Is this a sealed unit that you would have to have the manufacturer open?

CNET Review of the tablet

It should be easy to upgrade to Honeycomb if desired. I know I'd try to upgrade if I was in for one... dang budget gets in the way every time.

When was the last time you "tested" this device.

I mean, I personally think that tap n tap sucks badly, but a lot of stuff works on release 3588

I personally use Gingerbread experemental with clymsons newest kernal. The Tab absolutley destroys apps in this config.

I have very much enjoyed my purchase of this device and recommend it all the time.

Im in for one - when it comes to running VEGAn mod... is it easy to do this? Is there a walkthrough on how to get this to run as your OS... or is VEGAn not an OS at all... and you can only use the below as OS systems for the G Fablet?
•CyanogenMod 6.1
•TnT Lite
•ZenPad

Thanks!

Do half an hour of research on how to root and ROM it, and another 20 minutes of actual hands-on work with it, and you'll be singing another song. This device is like the Honda Civic of tablets. It doesn't look like a whole lot stock, but with a bit of work, you'll have a rocket on your hands.

Vega is a "sister" tablet made by the same company , Veiwsonic just rebrands it.

VEGAn is what happens when some of the most brillian minds come together and put a better version of android on this tablet Vega + Tap "N" Tap = VEGAn :D

you have cynogen 6.x you have Cynogen 7.x (gingerbread)
gingerbread asop
Gingerbread experemental VEGAn (my personal favorite)
TNT lite (Roebeet's baby)
Notion Tab (a rip from the Notion Ink)(Again Roebeet)
and a few others
also 2-3 developers making feature rich kernels

this is a nerds , (or after being configured anyone elses) best dream

Well whole thing pops apart without to much effort (but it is sealed in there)

The battery is very solid though, should last quite a while

Ok, I was almost suckered into buying this by the extensive advertising that this does 1080p! Wow! Awesome! Fantastic for a 10.1" device. Thinking to myself, it might be hard to find the cursor with that resolution...

Read the specs, people. 1024x600 IS NOT, IS NOT, IS NOT 1080P!!!!!!
Maybe this device is compatible and capable of playing 1080p through downscaling - but you have to have at least 1080 pixels in the smaller of the resolution numbers to be displaying 1080 HD glory.

It's still a nifty device, but I'm too annoyed over the misleading advertising to buy it anymore.

How can something be better than nothing if nothing is perfect?

For those of you thinking of getting this tablet but may be a little hesitant because you keep hearing about how "it's a great tablet once you root it and add a new rom" but you know NOTHING about doing such things, I have good news for you. I was just like that. Then I found this site: http://droidpirate.com/category/android-how-to/viewsonic-g-tab/ Step by step instructions for folks like us who have no previous knowledge about modifying anything. I had absolutely NO problem with the process and now my G Tablet is smoking! Love this tablet!!!

I bought one new back in November and returned it within a week. The off axis viewing was terrible. Liked everything else (although they hadn't even introduced Flash support yet), but the screen was just too frustrating...

Why would you care about 1080p in a screen this size? Ridiculous exercise in specsmanship...

I am an owner of the "Superpad" - AKA "Flytouch 2" or "WOWpad" - a 10.2" android 2.1 - and I like it just fine. Plays "Angry Birds," plays videos and music, etc.

I realize this tablet is gonna knock the socks off of the SuperPad. But can any owner attest to one thing?

Does its accelerometer work worth a damn?

My current tablet can do things like rotate the home screen to keep it horizontal, but if I try something like Google Sky, or one of those Labyrinth tilt-the-tablet-to-roll-a-marble games, it seems 90 degrees off.

And I can't even THINK about trying a driving game and steering by tilting. That's right out.

How's the Viewsonic stand up in those regards?

KTHXBAI,
R
