Doesn't that mean that mean that I got 2 separate Big o' Cosmos's on the same day?!? Also, what "GAME"? All I did is buy both of them before I got locked out or whatever? Is this an EPIC FAIL on my part or what!

Yes, I do realize that this is an April Fools Day Big o' Cosmos and I was expecting something along these lines but, what am I missing here?!?

Yeah, when I played level one, I died right away, entered my information on the buy it page, then it was sold out. When I reloaded the page it was on level two, so I played the game again, and died after about two seconds into level one (AGAIN) and went straight through to purchase the level 2 baggie.

We got lucky. They were having problems starting from about two minutes after I got my bag, and my roommate didn't get one (she even played the game when it was a level 3 bag, beat level 4, but nothing happened). You do NOT have an epic fail, rather an epic WIN because you didn't have to go through the game to buy two bags :P

Fun idea though, can't wait to see what they do next year!

GOT A WOOT TURKEY!!!! Maybe I will get some spectacular crap for being lucky enough to accomplish this. I did not even have to cheat like some of the others apparently figured out a way to do... Still curious though... Would it have been possible to get a 4th?? I tried until 6am. Possibly April Fool's on me.

Hey NG, I just wanted to let you know that the day the persian-style rug was offered, I checked the comments SPECIFICALLY to see what you would come up with. I thought it would be interesting if you found a tech manual for a Persian-style rug, but if anyone could find one, you're the man. Your post did not disappoint. Shine on you crazy diamond!

Cheers!

I thought the game was a good idea, and pretty funny the first time I played it and passed Level 3, What happened while I was playing??? The Server went down for maintenance. So I played again when it came back up, at this time is was Level 4, so I passed Level 4 and clicked the yellow order my Big Orphaned Cetacea now button....but what was this? I was brought to a screen that said you are not worthy and must pass level 5. I continued to play until 6AM when I gave up. I played for SIX HOURS getting double blocked every time trying to get what should have been mine around 1AM the first time I passed Level 3 when they shut the server down for maintenance. I have noticed also that woot has gone downhill since they were bought by Amazon, now I am just done. Consider this another one of your lost customers woot. Good Bye!!!

After pulling up the site multiple times in three different browsers last night, THE CRAPSHOOT LINK DID NOT APPEAR, It was not until this afternoon that it showed onscreen, and yes I was logged in.

It's kind of hard to play in the casino with no door. And enough with "its an April fools gag, get over it" rhetoric, if it happened to you, you be pissed off too

I've missed many, many bags of crap. There are so many people trying to get one, it puts a huge load on the servers.

Yes, it's frustrating. No, I don't get pissed off for missing out on crap.

Dear Woot,

Please don't do that again. I am old but still like my bags o crap, I prefer to purchase them the old fashioned way. Not so good with video games....nothing this time, super sad, only 1 other time and the kid made me give it to him.

I can take a joke. The only frustrating thing for me is that right when I was actually on the payment info page to confirm the purchase, after editing my payment info as quickly as possible (blasted new debit card!), I clicked the big yellow button only to be told that the item had just sold out.

At that exact moment it switched from level 8 to level 9. Very bad timing for me since I had to get to work and couldn't keep fiddling with it, and therefore lost my chance

I'm sad about it, and feel a little ripped off, but that's just life, isn't it? There will be another Big Orphaned Cetacea someday.

I think this woot deserves some epic poetry, ninja style!

There once was a Flesh game called crapshoot,
Where users competed to buy loot,
While we played as a snail,
The servers did fail,
Then many did curse at the name woot.

*edit* Apparently there are a few filtered words in there...

+5 signature of epicness!

Most fair it's ever been.

Okay, so yes, some people cheated, and yes, some people scored TWO, and yes, there were some people whose screens just took them straight to the buy option without the game. Yes.

And worse, for some people nothing worked, and they won but still couldn't get what they deserved. I hear you. That sucks.

But I've tried for years to get a bag o crap and gave up long ago. Having a game to slow US down kinda equalized the playing field enough so that real people could have a chance, instead of bots. A lot of people cheated, but most of us had a chance to get in on it this time. And yes, ADA folks, I'm one of you. Hard though it was, this was more fair than the normal way they've done it, imho.

I've waited DAYS during wootoffs for the bag o crap, only to be crashed when trying to place the order, and then beaten by the bots that got in. THAT sucks. And lookit: I played for OVER TWO HOURS. Level 6. Hard to do. And that was the earliest I could get in; the servers were so crashed at midnight that I didn't even know there WAS an offer. But stretching it out made it possible for most of us. And unlike the stock based one, in which I was one of the 90% who DIDN'T win, this time I have a guarantee. I won a bag o crap.

I am way more than $8 thrilled. It was a game. It was a sucky, hard game, with impossibilities at times, but it was a game that made it more fair than it ever has been before for a lot of us.

During the Level 3 sale, I made it to Level 4, but the game over screen only had "Play Again" and the Buy B button wasn't there...instead, was a server security exception line of code. Woot, while I don't expect anything, it would be fair if you would make good on those who did complete a certain level and did not get the button to buy.

The same thing happened to me. It was crap level 3, and I made it past level 3 to level 4 before I died, but it didn't give me an order page or anything like that; it just told me I made it to level 4. Not a big fan of woot right now. Oh, well, I'm sure someone else wants my money.

I think this type of Baggie attempt was the best chance I've had to win a Big o' Cosmos...Some of us are old and have early-morning responsibilities, you know, and can't be staying up 'til midnight (1am for my time zone) hoping to rob the woot warehouse blind of baggies by 12:05am (1:05am for us east coasters). So here's to you, Mr. April Fools Woot Schtick Designer. Thanks for giving us fogies a shot. (Fogies? I'M 37!)

You have a very strange definition of "fair".

It was a sucky, hard game, with impossibilities at times, but it was a game that made it more fair than it ever has been before for a lot of us.

No. Just no. Not only did it create greater inequality, but it did so at a greatly increased cost of investment and effort. Before, if you missed the moment, you tried for less than 5 minutes, saw it was too loaded, and moved on. You didn't get anything, but nothing except "checking on a browser tab to do something" worth of effort; very little effort and investment. This time, you had invest significant effort and time to get nothing. For most, this was an overall net loss of great significance. This was far worse than anything before. Woot basically wasted people's time and effort to give them nothing in return except errors, mockery, and increasing the difficulty.

I do hope people at Woot are fired for this and their unemployment benefits contested. You don't jerk your customers around, take away time and effort from them under the guise of a simple traffic staggering mechanism, and then proceed to use skinner box psychology on them in a distasteful manner.
