Dave94LX wrote:after a few days of playing with this tablet, I am still very happy with my purchase. I added a bunch of apps, but have kept it otherwise stock. Picked up a nice carry case from Five Below for $5.

I would definitely recommend this tablet to my friends.

I'm still looking for a cover and stand. Which one did you get? Did it work well for you?

When I first charged it and replaced the ROM, the batt was at 100% when pulled from the charger. After running down to the 20s%, I charged it up to green again. But when I pulled the plug it said only 96%. I popped it on the charger for a while more, but it still stayed at 96%.

That said it still ran all day it seemed, but I didn't think to watch the clock.

So I ran it down all the way and charged overnight. Unplugged this morning: 95%! And within 5' of doing some emails it dropped to 92%.

I'm sticking it back on the charger with the unit turned on so I can monitor what the meter says as it charges.

The same here... Every day it looses 1% of charge

I haven't been watching closely enough to say 1% a day, but I definitely noticed it at 96% a couple of days ago, and 95% fresh off the charger last night. Vegan 5.1.1.

Love this thing....got mine on friday of last week and pretty much ROM'd it immediately...stock TNT just wasn't cutting it...

only complaint is that the MicroSD card is such a pain to take in and out and there isn't anyway to access it via the computer when the tablet is mounted via USB....oh and the fingerprints, but i'm going to try the RainX trick this weekend...

Tablet Stands

You might enjoy looking at Instructables for stands. There is interesting variety ranging from re-purposed packaging material to a practical wooden block to an elegant easel.

If the URL doesn't go through correctly, I searched under ipad stand at www.instructables.com

Woot is supposed to be sending me the missing 2 prong piece that plugs into the power adapter, so hopefully I will have it soon.

On a side note, my father-in-law bought one of these from TD and I used his power adapter to charge the gTablet up and after about 10 minutes of messing around, I put VEGAn 5.1.1 on it in around 15 minutes. VERY nice! Anyone whining about future support of Android 2.3 should give it a try with a good interface ROM first. Very impressive. Can't wait to mess with this more when I get my own charger working via the part from Woot.

I hope people are still looking at comments; I could use some help.

I'm still using the stock system.

1. How are websites bookmarked? I'm using the browser available on the applications menu.

2. At the XDA forum, how do I search for a post by number?

3. When I download a file to the Gtab where is it stored?

4. More generally, how do I look at files and folders? How do I look at the internal SD. I'm looking for the equivalent of Explorer or My Computer.

4. Is there any compelling reason not to use Clockwork. I'm just an average user.

Thank you

The native file manager is called ESFileexplorer. It normally opens to \sdcard which is where most downloads get dropped.

Your MicroSD will be \sdcard2. It's also very easy to set up a share on your pc using the LAN option, I've been installing apps directly from there. You need to share a directory and set it up using an ip/sharename. I found it almost as fast as the USB cable.

As soon as I got my tablet I charged it and started it up using the standard setup and it did the first TAP update then died. It does an endless start up loop and doing a hard restart does not work. Viewsonic said they would replace it but when I asked further I found out their replacements are only refurbished ones. Woot is shipping me out a new one. Thanks Woot

They had several covers there, but the iPad covers were too small. I ended up with one that said it would hold up to 10.1" netbook or tablet. So far, it is working just fine!

VEGAN-TAB 5.1.1 Pershoot's Kernel
Yup. Same here. Battery charges sitting @ 94-95% after each full empty/charge cycle.
I tried wipe battery stats and dalvik cache with reboots but it didn't seem to make a difference.
I also lost my videos and Pics even the ".nomedia" trick in the respective folders.

The battery indicator all depends on how the code is written depending on the ROM you are using.
