In the childrens hospital. Now there are places you can get a ticket for smoking in your own car, if the kids are in it.

Add that to the "you can get arrested for doing stuff our parents did on a regular basis". Or for most of you, grandparents did

Child seats in cars! I don't recall ever using one. Now, hospitals won't let you leave without one, and kids are using them clear up through middle school.

I took daughter out of the real car seat when she started kindergarten.
Put her in the booster seat. She was too small, but you have to figure in the embarrassment of showing up at school in a "baby" seat.

I just checked the law. Heck they want my mother in law in a booster seat! She doesn't pass the height or weight requirement for just the seat belt.

I always wondered why, when there are settings on the shoulder belt height, why do they assume you are at least 5'5" ?
A huge percentage of adults aren't that tall. Lots of elderly. Lots of hispanic folks are on the short side.
Why can't you adjust the belt for 5' to well over 6'?

So, wait, people go to a gas station to smoke?

Yep. They're supposed to be to the side and back of the building, away from the pumps.

The contractors on campus have problems keeping employees--lots of smokers quit rather than make the walk to light up. It's about a 1/2 mile, round trip from my building.

Clearly, if you're smoking, the last thing you need is cardio.

Heh. I quit 2.5 years ago. I'd been running almost daily for 2 years before quitting.

I'd like to say that I was able to run further, or faster, or something...but in truth, when I quit smoking my iron levels bottomed out at the same time, and I spent 6 months more winded than before! Being anemic is tough.

When I was a kid we used to go to the Detroit zoo with my cousins (about 1.5 hours each way). We packed 4 adults (all of them smoking) and 6 kids into my dad's 63 chevy impalla. There were no seatbelts, if one of us got tired we crawled onto the ledge below the back window.

Heh, I quit and then took up running. Then went through a variety of injuries culminating in surgery... maybe smoking wasn't so bad! (No, it was; life is much better without that crap.)

I remember a friend whose family had one of those big old station wagons, with the little fold down seats in the very back...where you sat sideways. We always fought over who got to be in them!

I think the local government figured out a way to get people to stop.
It is over $10 a pack here.

When I was a kid, and went to NC to visit cousins, it was 25 cents.

At 25 cents, I might have smoked as a kid. I did smoke the free samples they gave out on the street.

Yes, people giving out free cigarettes on the streets of nyc!

So, basically, I was too cheap to get addicted to anything. Wasn't willing to pay for anything on a daily basis.

So what's for dinner tonight. We're trying Marco's pizza for the first time.

Well, another day has passed and I didn't use algebra once.

I got some nice recognition at work today. Recently there were a couple of compliments given to my boss.

Today I received an extra bonus check when out to lunch with my boss and head of our dept. A Thank you for all of my hard work on the project I've been working on since I started.

It's almost done. I'm scared they jinxed me. While I appreciate it, I wish they had waited until next month!
