So do I
(and yes, I know I should quit)
I'll quit someday.
Congrats on the recognition from the suits!
Happy Bithday Cruzer!
Yesterday was not so good. It started out when I was rushing to get ready for work and I stepped in dog pee then just kinda went down hill from there.
Work was full of dealing with crap (literally)and cockroaches. Then m-i-l decided she needed to go to the doctor so I had to leave early. Long story short I didn't get home until 10p.m. .
In the end only kindness matters

cruzer wrote:ooooh house stuff! except I can't read it at work...I will try to look tonight.
Speaking of house stuff, we started on building a deck last weekend. The first part of the process is going to be a 20'x30' rectangle. We dug all(mostly) of the holes for the footings last weekend. I'm still a little sore from that one, but pretty much ok at this point. That damn auger was freaking strong, plus the rocks didn't help! Freaking caliche!
My sister and her SO are replacing the deck at my sisters house. They'd planned 3 days--one day to dig holes/pour concrete for the new footers and remove an existing concrete step, one day to remove the old deck, one day to build the new one. They decided to hire someone to remove the concrete--it's not as easy as they thought.
And augurs are SO much better than digging by hand!

cruzer wrote:We are planning four weekends. I don't know how long it will actually take. I think we will finish the concrete this weekend and be able to buy the framing wood. We already bought the decking part. Home depot had a deal on composite decking for half off($1 per linear foot) and we decided that it was too good to pass up.
That is a good deal! When I last bought decking, I wanted to get the 5/4, but didn't because I didn't want to tear out the existing deck and wanted it all to match. Should have torn out the old stuff!

Morning, Wooterinos.
Happy Birthday, cruzer!

cruzer wrote:Oh, well...GEG has to work late today so I'll probably go home and try and finish off the last hole or two for the deck since there was nothing but rock on the bottom of each hole. I was able to borrow a rock bar to break up the rocks. I need to do that before we do the concrete footings this weekend.
Then after that, GEG is going to take me to whatever place I want to go for dinner. So far I have Texas Roadhouse (free appitizer!), Red lobster (mmmm cheese bread), and BBQ (no comment needed, but provided anyway).
There's not an option there I don't like.

I hear somethin' sayin'
(Hooh! aah!) (hooh! aah!)
(Hooh! aah!) (hooh! aah!)
(Well, don't you know)
That's the sound of the men working on the chain ga-a-ang
That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang
All day long they're singin'
(Hooh! aah!) (hooh! aah!)
(Hooh! aah!) (hooh! aah!)
(Well, don't you know)
That's the sound of the men working on the chain ga-a-ang
That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang
All day long they work so hard
Till the sun is goin' down
Working on the highways and byways
And wearing, wearing a frown
You hear them moanin' their lives away
Then you hear somebody sa-ay
That's the sound of the men working on the chain ga-a-ang
That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang
Can't ya hear them singin'
Mm, I'm goin' home one of these days
I'm goin' home see my woman
Whom I love so dear
But meanwhile I got to work right he-ere
(Well, don't you know)
That's the sound of the men working on the chain ga-a-ang
That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang
All day long they're singin', mm
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my work is so hard
Give me water, I'm thirsty
My work is so hard

cruzer wrote:I think I might get lucky in the fact that the hole that I will be working on should just about be in the shade by the time I get home, so it won't be as hot as it could be.
Yeah 90 in the shade feels much better than 90 in the sun!!

Hot days can often give way to comfortable evenings.
