Hey all, absolutely exhausted, but I have a 2 hour drive starting as soon as we are packed. Picture day, but we are also staying the night with a friend.

I was going to pack and get ready and stuff yesterday, but by noon I was in labor and delivery with a single mom friend of mine. Even though she was hiding her pregnancy (didn't want to talk about it before yesterday). I stayed with her until the end, only coming home twice for less than an hour each.

Mom and daughter are doing great. Baby arrived just before 2am, so we missed a May 5 birthday (sorry Cruzer, hope yours was good). I am so tired today. It's really different when you aren't in the bed, but still tiring.

We will most definitely have railings and balusters, we just haven't made the decision on what type to do. The concrete patio that is there right now has railings and we're basically extending the patio out to a 20'x30' deck.

The problem that we have is that the railings are probably going to be expensive if we go composite, but it will look goofy if we try and do wood railings. We did decide that white railings would look good so maybe if they were stained/painted white it might look ok, but I'm guessing it'll look like we cheaped out on the railings.

Have you considered aluminim? You can get the look of wrought iron at a fraction of the price - and it can be quite sturdy.

We'll give it a look. That may be what we have on the patio right now and it has stood up so far.

Just think in terms of baby proof. You don't want to have to redo it in a few years.

You may also want to check out salvage yards and architectural recyclers for old lengths of metal fencing that you could repaint and space between stretches of wood railing.

Evening. Just got home from afternoon/evening with niece and her b/f. We got prom shoes, dropped dress off at alterations, ordered tux and ate dinner.

Tomorrow I'm going to a Trade days, otherwise known as a crap show.
