klozitshoper wrote:Thanks - my knee jerk reaction too. I have a tendency to just replace instead of repair most of the time. People have told me they would have not purchased a new so&so without giving repair a go.
Ideally one would repair everything, less waste more green and so on, but in the end unless something is sold to end users a discrete parts that can be replaced, or costing 5k+, you are going to want to replace them. Most things are so integrated there is no way to fix it.
We just bought a new washer with a stainless steel interior, I really like it and would suggest that. My dad did his usual research for a year before buying anything thing so if you want I can ask him for info.

I bought some circuitry stuff for school at a parts shop, and listened to the owner talking to a customer. He was discussing how you used to be able to pull out a chip an replace it rather than buying a new unit and how everything is disposable now. While I agree that it sucks, it is kind of sad to see people cling to the past. the old DIP ICs are a thing of the past and SMD is the standard now. DIP products cost more to make, and are less powerful. You could not make anything with modern day computing power thing with them.
And actually SMD will go the same way as DIP with the push towards System on a chip
*This is a bit of an oversimplification, a purest would say this is incorrect, but for this case I am going to say it is true rather than getting into more technical stuff that I would get wrong and isn't relevant.*

Then what? Moving back home? Staying there? Got a job?
Son's friend took awhile, but he finally settled into a job he likes. Took him 2 years. He quit his first job. Crazy hours, little pay.
Haven't seen him in a long time, so he must have moved out of the parents house.
He was a graphic arts major.
Back here to look for work.

I'll probably be around after the dog gets his shot and I gets some eats.
4 hours @ work, then broken tree limbs @ f-i-l's taken down, chopped into managable lengths and stacked by the road. All my yard work is done, new air filter installed on f-i-l's mower. Short nap too.
