Will woot ever get away from Fedex?? They FedS*ck. They are soooooo slow and I've had stuff shipped media mail that gets delivered faster and stuff shipped further by UPS and gotten it a heck of lot quicker. Get into the 20th century and upgrade! We want it now!

However I have been unable to replicate this, anyone know if it's possible?

If you touch the standard clock from your home page you'll get a display with the same info as you see in that picture - larger clock, date, alarm info, weather and no other apps. On mine it's arranged differently, and I don't know if it's possible to change that arrangement. Could be the arrangement changed with firmware updates.

Awesome - thanks for the update. Hopefully it is fixed soon. It makes using pandora as an alarm useless (for me at least...i'm a 4-5 snooze hit kinda guy).

(though that response was a month ago... so who knows when the update will happen)

Apparently snooze works for other streaming radio stations, just not Pandora... maybe try branching out till they fix it?

I actually emailed them yesterday and they called and told me there would be firmware out soon to fix the issue. I'll give another station a try - which ones are best?

No idea. The only one I've ever listened to is Pandora! I've heard good things about Slacker though.

I plan on experimenting myself a bit tonight, the Dash should be waiting for me when I get home in about an hour.

is 1.7.1371 update worth it? (from 1.7.1186)

It might be my imagination, but it seemed to make the touch screen work much better.

Yes, it is a vast improvement. Just FYI, Sony's firmware updates are not optional. If you don't do them the device will eventually go into a loop asking for the update until you do.

A few months ago they released one that fixed nothing obvious but nuked netflix, pandora and a bunch of other stuff. Nice. We all had to wait for them to fix their fix. Sony is a shadow of what it once was, kind of like woot.

not really what is offer on website. it says a personal internet viewer when all it really does is have a few apps for music and video(netflix to included) and the weather. its a glorified alarm clock AND THATS IT!!!

Being new to Woot I have one simple question.
How long should I expect to wait for a product that was purchased/paid for on the 20th and has been sitting in a FedEx que holding without actual shipped info as of today? It is June 2 and still no information posted as to expected arrival of the product?

It looks like you likely wrote an email to us about this and it has been addressed. If you need any further assistance or have any questions, feel free to PM me or write to us again.

Yes I did receive an email from Woot CS, but did not see an estimate as to a date that it will ship or arrive. The status on the FedEx page still remains the same.
Not sure how I should PM you....

I just got my Dash...the most useless device I've ever purchased! I'm retired and I don't need another alarm clock. It does make a good door stop.

What did you expect from it? An $70 tablet computer? It IS just a fancy alarm clock that does pretty much everything you could want in a clock.

If you're using it as a doorstop, I'll gladly take it off your hands and even trade you a high-quality rubber doorstop for it!

Why did you buy a product without researching it? - 80% of the people on here said it was a great alarm clock and you still bought it. Now you said you dont need an alarm clock and it's useless. Utilize the features it SAID it had or just give it to goodwill.

It's what it says it is, nothing more or less. Why so surprised?
You're lucky to be able to retire. I wish I could, but I still need an alarm clock.

I've been using the Pandora alarm, and my only complaint has been that after 2 minutes the backup alarm starts beeping!

I called up Sony asking if there was a way to shut it off, and they said this was a "feature" in case it couldn't connect to Pandora.

Oddly, snooze does delay the backup alarm, just not the music itself. Still, what a misguided feature... hopefully they can make it optional.

Smartpost delivered mine yesterday. I really like this thing! Yea, it's an expensive alarm clock. But I like the few apps I've installed and as a clock, it's full of features.

its sucks that sonys site does not sort apps by rating etc. you have to go to http://www.chumby.com find what you want, then go to sony to add it. boo

Astronomy Pic of the Day is one of the more popular, but it doesn't work on Sony right? mine does not change from default it seems

Spent over 2 hours with tech support because my account somehow got all messed up. I have an old sonystyle account which pay be part of the problem.

If you have a sonystyle account, try that one first before trying to make a new one, even though it says "sony essentials" account

Since this device is almost worthless without being able to register, so instead of mowing the lawn like I need to or changing the oil like I also need to, I spent my afternoon off trying to get my account unlocked and my device connected.

It works somewhat like a framechannel device, i.e. you have to configure the apps online. Then once you setup an app, you send it back to the frame so you can use it.

I picked up mine from the post office yesterday (replacement postman couldn't find our address), and I have an unusual problem- it's stuck on the wrong time zone. No idea how it happened, but the clock is stuck three hours in the past. Has anyone had a similar problem with theirs?

unmake wrote:Bought this the last time it was offered on woot. It's fairly useless, however neat it sounds on paper. If you want to use netflix it might be great, but otherwise: it's dog slow, and not a feasible internet radio. Most of the apps are worthless and/or specific to some locality. Wifi reception is pretty dismal as well.

For $70 you can get a clock radio that does something useful, like charge your ipod, receive HD channels or stream internet radio stations through a decent interface.

If your ideal clock is a small computer dedicated to displaying a clock widget fullscreen, this might be perfect - even cheap compared to other custom designer clocks, I guess.

It's not like a tablet, it's not like an ipad, and the app experience is not at all comparable to an iphone/itouch. If anything, what the dash/chumby provides is most like the "push" applications from ~1999 - Pointcast, Marimba, and all those other dotbomb ghosts.

Yeah, what this guy says! If it weren't for the Netflix viewer (which actually works better than my blu-ray player) this would go straight to Goodwill.

I bought the Chumby One from Woot a while back, and got the Dash thinking it was an upgrade. Of course the screen is much nicer, and Netflix is a bonus, but I'm disappointed in the backwards direction Sony took the Chumby in bsic functionality. The multiple alarm setup is much clunkier and labor intensive than Chumby. Also I rarely wake to an alarm but always set it just in case, so Chumby's "Skip" on the nightmode screen was a godsend for my fiancee. Now deactivating that alarm lights up the whole room and has me fumbling in the dark in a half-stupor. So far the Dash is setting itself up to be relocated to my desk as glorified photo frame.

I had a weird thing where it went into Pacific time only when it was in night mode (despite both clocks being set to EST).

Fixed by going into the clock settings and shutting off the "automatically get time from internet" (paraphrasing, I don't remember the exact name of the setting). An odd fix but it worked.

That's sad. What a nice gift too. I'll ask around and see if anybody I know wants one. I like mine but don't need another.

Update to my situation: http://www.woot.com/Forums/viewpost.aspx?PostID=4486298&PageIndex=7&ReplyCount=308#post4498226

I tried it again last week and it just started working. Not sure why but everything is good and now that it's working, I like it. I wish there was an ethernet option since wireless can be laggy and internal memory to copy music over, but I'm satisfied with the price and, now that it works, the product.

It's a weak tablet...good for a clock/radio alarm thingy do. Got it for the wife so we can check the weather from the bedroom instead of running downstairs to see if the kids have school.

Great alarm clock and a pretty much meh everything else. I love a love hate relationship with the night mode alarm clock. The Turn off button is so sensitive that if you miss, the screen goes bright and requires 3 specifc screen touches to get back. Oh man, I'd love to see Android on this thing.

The Dash now has a browser. Better late than never. I was greeted with a firmware update screen when I got home this evening and proceeded to install it. 1.7.1412 now adds a WWW button when you press the menu button. Press it and you get a browser that works on most sites, including "most" of Woot. Still looking for what else has changed.
