We've made it to summer. How about a little summer poetry?

William Henry Davies spent much of his life as a tramp on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, but after losing his leg, began serious work on his poetry. Just like Eminem to Dr. Dre, Davies got noticed by George Bernard Shaw, and suddenly caught on with the public. We don't have the reprint rights, so aim your bird-like spirit over here to check out the poem, then hurry back to our comments and discuss.

And as always, for those who don't care about poetry, we offer this.

Not bad, although I'm surprised you went so traditional.

Check out
Verse Daily at http://www.versedaily.org/
and
Poetry Daily at http://poems.com/

How Poetry Daily managed to snag poems.com is beyond me...they are soooo lucky.

Anyway, both of these sites reprint from interntional poetry journals and offer up some of the best stuff around. Extremely current...like published last week in Poetry or NY Book Review current. Dead poets are great, but living poets rock (we so rock)!

P.S. I never did send you any poems...poets are slackers. PM me with way to get it to you and I'll send y'all my book, ifin you wants it.

So is Kevin Bacon secretly working at Woot? I ask because if you like poetry, then there's a link for you off of the main woot.com website. But, wait, there's another pro-poetry link at your sister website, shirt.woot.com http://shirt.woot.com/friends.aspx?k=5230 . Looking even deeper, one can't help but notice the fowl reference inherent therein. That makes the second link (supposedly for those who aren't into poetry) on the main woot blog even stranger. I wonder if all of the recent notoriety has gone to the head of http://shirt.woot.com/friends.aspx?k=19421 and now he's drunk with power. Either that or woot is going to the birds.

I think that shirt's been up for long enough that it's just a coincidence you saw it today. But lots of us here appreciate poetry, so maybe you're on to something.

Wait, if this was published in 1914, do you really NEED reprint rights?

I'm well aware of that shirt's long existence, I'm merely espousing a potential conspiracy involving Woot writers and avian references. Hitchcock was into that sort of thing, or so I'm told. Also, I was trying to be clever in the hopes of a quality post. I'm sorry...
