3W is 3W, LED or not, it's going to drain the batteries like a 3 watts load. LED just give you more light for the same 3W

I've boughten two, one for me and one to move it along for you. I don't think I've ever seen such good reviews in the comments section for a product on Woot before.

Got 3 last Woot that work on 3 AAA's, some sort of tactical light...Serengheti brand, IIRC, the AAA's don't last as long as the D cells.....in my line of work, flashlights are on for hours at a time!

I have bought a total of 6 of these. I kept 2 and gave the rest away as gifts. They are by far the best flashlights for the price that I've ever seen. If I had been near a computer when these came up I would have bought 3 more!

These are D cell sized flashlights. You really ought to start with AAA size and work your way up or y'all are gonna tear somethin'...

ajere wrote:But are they better than a Mag-lite?

i know im a little late on this response, but they come up every woot off so im saying this for future reference. ive bought 5 of these things and they are fantastic! compared to a maglite, they are a bit brighter, and they only require 2 D batteries rather than 4. they are also whiter than mag lights. the only flaw to them is that the focus of the light is set and you cant adjust it. that being said though, the focus is set pretty much where you would want it. like i said ive bought 5 and im happy with them all.

Insanely late to comment, but in for three and a total of nine since they started appearing. Compare these to other 3W CREE LED flashlights and they may come up a bit short on features, but they are still crazy-bright and an incredible value. Comparable models start above $50 with some breaking $100. These are not ordinary "hardware store checkout lane, impulse buy" LED flashlights. If that's all you've experienced as far as LED flashlights are concerned, you're likely incapable of comprehending just how bright and functional these are.

Got mine today. All 3 are good, but I only have 2 D cells... Found some more. Now I can light all 3 of them at the same time.

That was fun. But I hate batteries. Now it is time to find the datasheet for the CREE LED modules and make a proper current limited power supply.

Mine arrived today; they are very, very, very bright with a large area lit. I'm trying rechargeable batteries, saving the others in case a h-cane comes this way. That's IF, not when. I bought more on sellout.woot.
