Afternoon PWA, thankfully our storm last week was worse with rain and wind than this one was. Having said that, lots of streets flooded but they're miles from me. More flooding to come later tonight when tide comes in so hopefully people in other areas around here won't have it too bad in the evening. Beautiful day here today.

Glad everyone here made out so well with this storm.

Edit: our power was out for about 2 1/2 hours, no biggie

lotta damage around here...Trees down everywhere,
bridges washing out, couple of dams on the verge of going, and several towns are being evacuated with rescues being done by helicopter, plucking people off of rooftops.

We ain't used ta this kinda precipitation - if'n it was white and fluffy it'd be no big deal!

some in the basement but nothin too serious - but my skylight in the kitchen is leaking so I may end up with part of my kitchen ceiling down.

Darn skylights. I love the light mine bring in but don't think I'd ever put them in another home again. Just a PIA sometimes.

Sorry about the damage Lynnie. I wasn't really worried about you! Seems strange that you had so much more damage than the coastal wooters.

We picked blueberries and pears today. We put the blueberries in the freezer for muffins. I want to make pear preserves. Anybody got a good recipe?

yeah, go figure. talked to my lil bro in NC and all they had was wind. It is really bad in upstate NY and Vermont. Flooding will only worsen thru the next 24 hours as the rivers haven't crested yet. The NYS Thruway is closed due to flooding. Wind is picking up again here as the storm does some backlash thingie the local forecasters told us was gonna happen.

as for your preserves....no good recipes for that. Ever try pear butter?

I think part of it is that the ground was already pretty saturated before this started, and the additional 8-11 inches of rain (or more in some places) in such a short time is just overwhelming the area.

Found one that is pears, lemon, sugar and water.

I've just looked at J3's station's site and the outer banks of NC really took a beating.

uh oh...just heard that the town across the bridge from my office is evacuating...waiting to hear from the boss's husband - see if he has any details. Worried about the hospital kitties, esp the ones in cages

I know...the thought of Pickles and Trixie in their cages not being able to get out is horrifying. Three other cats have free run of the place so could manage to get up high.

Rusty just had a loud fight with a dog I don't know at the park.
First time all summer nobody was there but dogs. All of them off leash.
Suddenly I hear a big fight. Rusty and some small white dog.

I run over, grab his legs and flip him on his back. Threw a few smacks in. Clipped the leash on and dragged him home.

So...20 seconds from start to finish?
Maybe 10 seconds.

Other owner grabbed the dog and left.
No idea if there was any biting.
Did get to the guy and offer him my name and address and say rusty had his shots.

White dog wasn't upset.

I usually do a nose to nose after a fight, just to make sure they are ok with each other. No time.


Now he is in his create with no toys and no blankets

I'm hoping he gets the idea I'm really pissed at him.

Went back to the park alone to see if anyone saw what happened. They all went home.
Well, it was right before it gets dark.

Or they aren't dog park people and never saw a "fight" before.

I don't know if this was a real fight or just a growl fest.

I wonder if Rusty got bit? I don't know which dog started it, but rusty was a good 40 lbs larger.

Ever since he got bit and bit the dog back, he makes me nervous. He knows how to draw blood now.

Think he's turned into a maneater?
