rivers have crested, and as far as I know, clinic did not flood. At least it hadn't as of 5:30 when I left. But the water had gotten within prob 100 yards of the front door. Watched the Hudson River rise all day.

This is when it's great to be a grandmother. Took granddaughter #3 shopping and to dinner. She picked Golden Corral also because she'd heard from her younger sister that they now have cotton candy and a chocolate fountain. Towards the end, she said, "Why am I shivering, it's not cold in here?" Maybe because your bloodstream is so full of sugar and chocolate you won't get to sleep until 3. And took her home. //evil laugh//

Had a great talk with step-mom tonight. my frustration with sis exploded out. She listened, agreed with much, told me where I was wrong too and now I feel lot's better. She let's me explode it out on her so it doesn't come out on sis, and sets me straight too.

I'm a very lucky girl to have a mom and a step-mom who are so different, yet I'm so close to both and they give me a whole lotta love.

Made a semi-crappy day all better.

Had son download The Help and borrowed his Kindle to try it out. It's okay. I can't honestly say I'd prefer one over the other as far as reading. I have two problems with eBooks. One, you can't trade them. And, two, books I like I read many times. And even though you can have them all on the Kindle, it's not like browsing your bookshelves.

And right now The Help has me hooked.

I also like to be able to tell how far into a book I am or how close to the end. Even though the Kindle says 35%, that doesn't quite do it for me.

//RANT!
Today was a total and absolute waste! Got up too damn early after staying up way too stinking late. Got to photo studio, spent two hours fighting the toddler and being delayed by other customers who came to pick up their stuff about every 3 pictures we took (only one girl working). Then after waiting the two hour processing time (where they get all the pictures so you can see them) we find out that EVERY SINGLE SHOT IS OVEREXPOSED!!!!!!! There are only about 3 shots in the whole 2 hours that is useable. All that work into matching outfits and custom flower accessories, none of them are useful. One picture of Ver2 was so over exposed you can't tell where her skin ends and the white of her dress begins! $40 in gas wasted! An entire Monday wasted! We didn't get any photos. I won free photos and didn't even get those. Left my number for the manager who I have a good relationship with, but the reality is we have to give our our 3 day weekend next weekend to go back and have a do-over. I feel like The Day the Ponies Come Back (2000), am utterly exhuasted, and I gained nothing from the day at all.

//END RANT

I like my Kindle well enough. I've gotten some Kindle only books and they are good. I definitely don't have the same eyestrain as I get with normal books (especially paperbacks), but I love real books. I love the smell, the feel, the look of the ink on the page. The eyestrain is the big seller for me though.

Good morning everybody!

edit:

I love my Kindle. I miss reading a real book but I like the convenience of the Kindle. I miss the covers. I haven't figured out how to read back if I missed something. I will be very glad when library e-books are available on the Kindle. I think they will be available this fall. I hate not being able to borrow books.
