Isn't there a time limit? I love it when my neighbor brings over a whole bag of books. It might be a couple of months before I get them all back to her. We just put our initials in them and pass them on to someone else.

I'm considering getting a kindle-type reader; I have a difficult time holding books and turning pages with my numb left hand. Are they light enough to use one-handed?

I think so.
The page looks like a book. It isn't back lit.
Son has one, but now he stole my books. He likes book better.

That's iffy. I'm holding it with two hands but I think it's just because it's more confortable. As far as turning pages, it's just a click with your thumb. Go to a store a try one.

Some books limit how many devices a book can be loaded on, but I've not seen any with time limits.

Definitely. I seldom hold mine with both hands. Page turning is a thumb click, doesn't involve changing my hold. Target and I think Staples carry the Kindle now, you could go in and try their demo model to get a feel for it. I'd compare the size/weight to a TV Guide or Readers Digest. Easier to hold, though, since it's not flexible!

It might depend on how you share it, tbh. My sister and I have our kindles registered to the same account, and we both pay the bill for books.

The only thing I have that it doesn't come with is a case. I'll put it in my backpack, and that keeps it safe. I have cases for all of them, but the one that stays home is never in its case. Come with a charger, and the new model has a wall bullet plus USB cord, so you have one cord to charge or connect to a laptop. You can get the Wi-Fi only models for less, if you know you'll have access.

No, but I looked at it. It is easy to read, no glare. Plus you can change the font size.

Mom day. See ya latter.

Hubby threw his back out, taking the window ac units out before the storm. They aren't heavy, must have twisted wrong.

This is why he never started his own business. The year we were married he threw his back out and was out of work for 5 or 6 weeks.
We realized when you work for yourself, that isn't good! I think he actually started collecting temp disability. At age 23. But this is the first time in years it is bad.
Went to the doctor and got pills that made it feel better. Did more stuff while it felt good, made it worse.

All the beaches and parks are closed. Anyplace nice for a day trip in this beautiful weather.

Traffic lights may or may not be on. Cops aren't covering the ones that are out. So driving is iffy.

Up state, where he wanted to go for a day or two, it totally flooded. The town he likes was in the paper because of the damage. Excessive water and hilly land don't mix.

Rusty had a sneezing attack last night. He is allergic to something that the rain brought out. Now he didn't eat, but he does that often.
May be a vet visit this week.

Great vacation!

Plus, can't go to any park, but the weather is wonderful!

oh, the roofers will do their own costumers first, so the missing pieces will be missing for awhile. Nothing that would cause a leak.

HI everyone. A gray day here. Have not heard weather this AM, but as of last night we had a storm heading our way. Went for 12 hour fast - blood draw this morning. Got the good phlebotomist (sp?) - you cannot even feel the initial stick.

Grrr.

Thought I had an appointment to have the house reappraised for the tax evaluation today.

Pretty sure, in fact.

Appraiser didn't show, didn't call. I suspect that he's out doing insurance inspections, due to the hurricane.

Which I get.

BUT...still RUDE not to notify me he's changing the appointment. No response from the email. Will call this afternoon.

AZ you would love a kindle! I got the less expensive one that has ads on the front page. No biggie. You could easily hold it and turn the pages one handed. I've even used the browser.

I have a Sony ereader, which I can use one handed. Only bummer about the Sony is that I got most of my ebooks from Borders, because they were easier to shop for on that site than the Sony site, and cheaper. Now that's gone.

I regret not getting a Kindle or Nook instead, so I could trade books with people.

I can check out books from my library on the Sony, but I need to find my cord to plug in to computer. One definite advantage of the Kindle is the wireless.

I was really surprised how light the Kindle is. I have really bad tendinitis in my right wrist, but even in a wood case I can hold it rather easily, although I do tend to lay it down if reading for a long time, but I do that with books too.

The font deal has been the biggest perk for me, which works on all the books, but not on pdfs. I was hoping it would, but the ones I've downloaded have been hard to read.

As for sharing the website says two weeks between accounts. Orc and I share an account and we read a lot of the same stuff, so between us it's not a problem, but if I want to share with my Brother-in-law I'd have to read the book immediately after he sends it and if life gets busy sometimes I go 2 weeks without reading for fun.

I have the wireless kindle without ads. If you need to download stuff without the internet or use it as a black and white web browser then the 3G is handy, but if you load up with a bunch of books for times when you won't have wifi and you can live without the internet for that time you don't need the 3G, IMHO.

2 youngest are home from preschool. Orc and Ver1 have been developing obstacles and monsters for the rpg we are developing (Think D&D, but with little kids - most of these games are for 8 and up, we are shooting for 3 and up)

Most of the books I've read don't have illustrations, but the screen illustrations are really quite good, just black and white.
