Sigh. SO has a work meeting at 8 pm. :/ Means a boring evening.

And yes, the kindle images are very clear. I have Curious George on mine, to read to the youngest, and she adores them.

The newer books are supposed to come with standard page identifiers, as well. Since you can change the font size, though, I'm not sure how accurate they'll be.

I thought she said she and the office were okay.

Well, another day has passed and I didn't use algebra once.

What state does she reside?

We just had another death reported in NJ. Man was swept into the storm drain this afternoon. They've been searching for him, finally found him. So sad for the people that lost loved ones and for the ones that have so much damage. Another area of Jersey was evacuated earlier tonight. Didn't one of the PWA people live in NJ?

Lynne lives in upstate NY, I believe, between Vermont and the Hudson River. Tell me if I'm wrong, Lynne.

Skek lives in NJ but has been okay up till now at least.

doing fine thnx

water never reached the clinic last night, and the Hudson is dropping. The flooding in other parts around here and in Vermont are still amazing tho...small creeks flooded entire valleys. Farms, homes, businesses....gone. Many areas in Vermont are still cut off - no access due to bridges and/or roads being washed away.

This flooding....amazing. There have been 2 deaths up here - one woman swept away as she and her husband were trying to leave their house on Sun, another man whose truck was swept away in the river - they think he was trying to go check on his farm stand.

Yep, that was who I was thinking of and couldn't remember the teachers name. Glad he's doing alright. Thanks!

Saw Vermont on the news, just terrible.

My neighbor complained today about our lights still going in and out and I just stared at her. It's like she doesn't realize how lucky she is, goof.

Yep, upstate NY, near Saratoga Springs (about an hour north of Albany). But the Hudson lies between me and Vt.

In your area is it the river that is doing the most damage or the creeks? Seems around here it's the creeks more than the river. Well I should say so far since the river hasn't peaked yet. I think this makes 8 deaths for NJ.

Back to school dinner was a blast. Didn't rain this year, live kids band was good. Kids all loved the juggling. Ver1 was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy to see friends. Met one of the new kids in her class. Spent a while chatting with teachers. The principal asked if I wanted to teach P.E., they still don't have a P.E. teacher.... I don't know anything about teaching P.E. otherwise I'd jump at the chance.

School in the AM back to crazy lunch lady schedule.

both, actually. The Hudson and Mohawk Rivers went over flood stage - worse in some areas. The streams/creeks have done their share - the Schoharie Valley was flooded by a very small creek - the entire valley was flooded. The pictures are unreal. I think it's the same in Vt - lot of smaller streams that were just raging, taking out roads and bridges, houses, buildings.

It's just so much easier to transport clothes in those bags than in boxes or suitcases. I love them.

Morning!

Most of the creeks here crested Monday, no more flooding. Still no power at SO's work site in NJ.

Singer machines are good for general sewing purposes. I have 3 machines--one an old Singer, one Brother that's cheap but functional, and a referb Singer that I got off woot a couple years back. It's my machine of choice. Until I get my mothers Janome, anyway.

Network guy paid me a visit to ask what I was downloading. Ws I downloading a bunch of music or something? Because I had already downloaded 1.2 g of data and I either needed to stop whatever it is I was doing or I have a virus.

Um, I was on Facebook? I checked woot? Oh, and I pulled down two really big oracle reports, for work related purposes.

He tells me no, it can't be that. Where is the music and what am I doing?

Um, yes it is the oracle reports. Here they are, see how big they are?

He tells me I'll have to see if that's right.

I finally call him back and it was my work stuff. Guess he wasn't going to let me know.

Maybe he should have checked to see if it originated from our data center first.
