oh geez....the big ol Reddog is still the bestust boy. He is totally blind now, but still 'looks' out for his kitties. He wanted to go get on one of the dog beds but carefully sniffed it out first - he found a kitten was sleeping there, so he went somewhere else.

Sure. But do they have to share them with ME? When SO or I are sick, we manage not to infect each other. Kids...no chance. Not sure how that happens, but it does.

Apparently, woot is sponsoring somebody's fantasy football league over on Deals Woot, providing a trophy. I tried to persuade snapster to sponsor the pick 'em game over here, but he said it was hard to budget for something over on EBW. I have asked why the other one is even ON Deals.woot, and why it isn't in the contest forum, but he didn't answer yet. doubt if he'll be convinced.

edit: this was on Google+. anybody who wants an invite to Google + but doesn't have one, send me an email via PM and I'll invite you.

Can you tell me why I'd want to be on Google+?
I'm not being sarcastic, just want to know what the advantages or differences are over FB and Twitter.

Well, another day has passed and I didn't use algebra once.

I don't know. I hate Facebook, for one reason. I think they are actively trying to get your information in crass and sneaky ways, in everything that they do.

Lately, even though I have blocked all of the hideously annoying and stupid games, they inform me whenever anyone who plays any of those games 'likes' anything about them. They no longer allow me to block any of those notifications without blocking that person entirely.

I just hate them. so, that's one.

The continual tweaking of privacy controls is another. This is not to give us better control over private info, of course. This is to make people abandon these controls. funny, they are never defaulted to protect one's info, the default is always to share. so when they change things, the private info is out there again.

Twitter is too short, and too ephemeral. I love it, and do more there than anywhere, but there is a real sense of impermanence about it.

all of that said, I rarely do anything on Google+. I just kind of check in to see if there's anything new there. about the only person who posts there, besides Schrobblehead, who is mostly blocked on other sites at work, is Matt Rutledge. go figure.

Hey wooters!

so, had a bit of a freak-out moment during the morning commute. Driving along, minding my own business, when from the corner of my eye I notice something moving near my head. I turn to look, and there crawling up the inside of the window, just a few inches from my face, is a big-@$$ praying mantis!!! nearly caused me to lose control right then.

Fortunately got the bugger out at the next red stoplight, but still rather freaked the rest the way in to work. I've never seen them in our yard before, so wondering where it came from and how it got into my car!?!

I like g+ so ever much more than facebook.

Different flavor community. Most of the people I've circled share interesting things, like news stories, or great photos. The number of 'O hai, I cleaned the bathroom' posts has thus far been very minimal.

Being able to completely avoid the games is great, too.

That said, I don't know many wooters real names to circle them.

My speech is not splitting. I am speaking in Cthulhu.

I believe it's on deals just because it started there. We actually tried to get a Fantasy Football league going with employees and wooters a month or two back, but it failed to take hold. There were also some serious limitations with what Yahoo! could support for it.

We're hoping to increase our "game" presence in the immediate future and this may have just been an opportunity we could glom onto to see how it works. Believe me, we haven't forgotten you guys and they'll have to pry EBW FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS.

(I also want to get some progress made on the Contests forum -- we have some plans, we just need the manhours... and we're hiring like crazy to help with that.)

Did you know shirt.woot ships internationally? Get you some!

So if I were to ask for an invitation and I got on there, what would be my next step? Would I know anyone but you? And do you ask someone to be in your circle? What if they don't want to? *sniff* Would anyone on there know me to ask me to be in their circle?

That's kind of the nifty thing - you can add ANYONE to your circle. And anyone can add you. But it doesn't have to feel all "well so and so added me and I have to add them back" - I know there are people I've circled that either do not know who I am or sincerely do not give a flying screaming monkey (ON FIRE) what I post, so they don't add me back, and vice versa.

(Will say tho, all personal info should be swapped via PM and not posted, but I know you all know this... I just have to do that 'good mod' thing and remind people.)

That said, your next step is to find interesting people - there are lots of 'lists' out there, or if you don't want to read random/famous people, ask folks in PM here

I'm just hanging out, really.
