I always figured a galley had door at both ends. Mine has the doors on the sides. Who knows. Mine has the plumbing wall on one side. That wall is shorter
Why did they build such screwed up kitchens in the post WWII era???? 50's and 60's????
Even large houses had crappy kitchens.
Houses built in the 20's and 30's had big kitchens. Maybe not much counter space, but large space.
There is a fairly large split level house. Built with master bath, which was unheard of until then,. It has a galley kitchen with cabinet, sink, cabinet on one wall. Fridge, cabinet, stove on the other. Plus it was an area you walk through!
People ate every meal at home! Women cooked every day!
It is not the only larger house like that.
