Not me. Just got home, this is the first I've heard of it.

I was standing on the front porch when it hit; broke a couple of dishes and all our wall pictures were skewed.

Pretty cool in an "I'm okay" way!!

Yeah, I just did too, but no details on TV here yet - I read that as far away as Cranston RI felt shocks. Also referred to a quake on Maui.

It's a rocking day in the geology world! :D It made the house sway, water was trembly, cat looked around, but that was it. Not scary. I was on a phone conference with work, 10 miles away, and they got it about 5 minutes later. AZGman, glad you're ok!

edit to add: Devastation!

I see nothing further about a quake on Maui thank goodness.

You do know that Seattle and the suburbs thereof are on a faultline? Not aware of - oh wait, yes I am. Ranier could blow I guess.

If you look at hinds county in mississippi it sits directly on top of an inactive (at the moment) volcanoe!

Did not know that - Mississippi for some reason just does not seem that it would be a place with a volcano. Isn't it pretty flat?

We are still in SC and didn't feel it. Hope everybody around DC is OK. We have been packing the car and cleaning the condo. We are driving a Jetta TDI so we don't have much room but are getting terrific mileage. Looks like Irene might go farther of east of us.

edit: School starts Thursday so we have to go home tomorrow!

I was driving and didn't feel a thing. My step sister called me to see if I was with mom. She said the building shook.

So, somehow, I felt and heard an earthquake, years ago, that nobody else felt.
This one, nothing.

Were you driving at the time? It would have had to be a bit stronger to feel it in a moving car - unless the roads on L.I. are smooth as glass!!

Hot damn! They have to update our taxable real estate values every three years and our appraised value dropped $12,000. I realize this isn't good for people trying to sell, but for us, it will lower our property tax bill.

You didn't even have t o pay a lawyer to do it!

We had a town supervisor who bragged he never raised taxes.

What he did was reassess everyone, every year! Taxes went way up. Now the town is freaking out, because every house is worth way less!

After an earthquake.

The ny news just put a teaser with a helicopter shot of a broken chimney.

The mayor said the only damage they found was one broken chimney.

Why can't they just admit there was no damage?

It was a good time.
Except for that the Lincoln memorial had no water.
Not in the reflection pool
Not in the water fountains
Not in the facilities (which apparently didn't stop some people )
The remaining available facilities were veritably "destroyed"
Gotta love tourists.

@joyner: we have a Jetta Sportwagen TDI, and got an average of 42mpg for the whole trip. yay.

I didn't feel a thing from the earthquake, but I'm sure sick of that one picture of the lawn furniture.

move along

Why is there a captcha, a really hard one too.

Hopefully it will be weak and my worst problem is getting the dog to poo in the rain.
