I knew that all of that excess Motorola XOOM inventory would show up on Woot eventually, but I was hoping for a better price.

I'll be back to buy when they get down to $250. That should only be another six months from now.

Totally with you there. Widescreen is nice for watching movies, but not-so-great for almost anything else (on a tablet, anyway).

I've owned this tablet since release day. In a word - buy.

People will complain about the screen. The screen is fine if you aren't into graphic design.

People will complain about honeycomb. Honeycomb has gone from good to great since 3.0 was released. You can now watch full length movies on the tablet and widgets are able to be properly resized.

People might complain about the weight. Its a touch over 700g. I don't think I have anything to say thats not mean about these people.

The battery life listed is a conservative number. I've routinely gone whole weekends without recharging the thing and still having enough juice to read my kindle books waiting for my flight home.

If you have a phone with an unlimited data plan and you root THAT you can then wifi tether the xoom to it (rooted or not).

Here's what I recommend, both that I have (gave one to my sister):

The Acer Iconia A500 (32GB model $490 at CostCo).

The ASUS Transformer (32GB model $450 to $500).

The ACER has great specs, including great connectivity options, e.g., a microUSB port AND a full size USB 2.0 port (to which you can attach USB keyboards, mice, etc.)

The ASUS is kind of like the Lenovo hybrid that did not make it to the U.S. market last year.

The tablet can attach to the optional "dock" that converts the tablet into a netbook of sorts. (When the tablet is attached to the dock it looks like a netbook).

IMHO definitely pass on this Xoom.

But doesn't the ASUS have really shoddy QC? Given the large number of DOA and multiple reviewers thaat have each gotten multiple bad units I am leery of the transformer.

I agree with you, but they aren't worthless. Some people use tablets in meetings...sometimes to take notes...sometimes to play angry birds.

I would have bought an iPad, Xoom, Galaxy, or iPad2 by now but still can't justify replacing my Droid1 yet. It's like, I bought it right after launch and it still can roughly do everything all these devices do...it's just a little more sluggish, but has wifi/3G, GPS, 16GB, and the ability to download apps from the marketplace.

I know people who own 3 or 4 of these types of devices...if you ask me, that's a total waste since they all have roughly the same functionality. I may skip tablets altogether and just get another smartphone when I give up on my droid unless my wife thinks she can deal with a tablet & a bluetooth keyboard for her next laptop purchase (mine's covered by work and it'll most-likely always be a dell laptop...which I don't mind)

After buying and returning the Viewsonic G-Tablet,and reading up on others, seems to me none of the Android Tablets work well enough to be considered as anything other than toys.
If the sd slot doesn't work,don't release the product!Don't give me a I.O.U. saying this thing will work later. I hate Apple ,but though limited, at least the IPAD works out of the box.

It be good, especially at that price. But, it uses nVidia chips. Read the reviews and you'll find this chipset is locking up tablets right and left. Some folks get lucky and don't see it much, but the majority are really having issues. That's probably why it's for the cheap on Woot.

What's happened to nVidia? They used to be good, now more and more their products are causing all types of issues. Overheating, locking up, just not running as they should. It's getting to the point that I can't recommend nVidia to anyone any more.

Unfortunately SquareTrade doesn't offer ADH (accidental damage from handling) protection on refurbished items. ADH being the type of protection I would need in order to get replacement / repair in case of dropping, water damage, etc.

Do you use ATT Uverse? If so, rebooting your router should do the trick. There has been a long running issue of the Uverse routers unable to assign IPs when they are hung. May not be your problem, i'm just sayin'.

Good question... I recently picked up a GTab on woot.

It is my first android device. I bricked it, then recovered it with NVFlash. I have VEGAnTab 7.0 Ginger Edition on it now. It's a major upgrade from what Viewsonic delivered it with.

With the iPad, we don't need to rely on crappy flash based games because we have thousands and thousands of near or at console quality games on the cheap. So, yeah, go play Farmville on the Xoom and I'll try and make it through with the few thousand game titles available to my iPad..

They are only resource hogging if your system can't handle them! It is nice having the full web experience for better or worse. Flash games run flawlessly, and ads don't bog it down. I don't feel like installing any form of ad blocker, as they hurt the websites developers. I can click on an embedded youtube video and it plays without issue or having to switch to a youtube app.

I laugh, my Nokia N800 tablet 2005, which predates the even the original iPhone supports flash! Epic fail Apple.

Ohh, the iPad must have Firefox with adBlock extension, like my Xoom! Rock on iPad~

Motorola just started pushing Android 3.2 to the wifi XOOM starting yesterday. As Motorola updates their devices using a rolling method, some XOOMs have it and some don't. It took about a week for me to receive the last update (to 3.1) and would expect it to be about the same this time.

I have one of these and its the best tablet I have owned. Being the "Google Flagship" has its advantages when it comes to updates. The build quality on the xoom is fantastic. Everyone who compares this to the transformer has probably never held both. The transformer feels very cheap and plastic while the xoom feels like a solid piece of metal and glass. At 399 this is a steal. I actually paid more for my used one a few months ago. Honeycomb 3.2 does wonders for this tablet as well. They developed 3.2 with this tablet specifically in mind. Solid deal for a SOLID tablet.

$399 is the price it SHOULD be for a NEW Xoom 32GB. Still probably not a bad deal.

What's the word for Cisco VPN support on the Xoom?

I know it's an issue on my galaxy S with froyo, even rooted with some changes put in, VPN connects but is unusable.

Without Cisco VPN support though this Xoom can't really be used by a large number of IT professionals as anything other than a toy.

Anyone know if Skype works on this?

Can I just say.... I LOVE MY XOOM! If you are even considering it, don't hesitate. It is a great device! With the exception of gaming and editing pictures and videos, I have all but abandoned my PC. There is very little that I can' do with my XOOM. Watch movies, surf the web, read the news, listen to streaming audio, podcasts and music, read books. And I get to choose thesource from which I get my media.

For those downplaying Flash support on Android, I have to disagree. While I am not a fan of Flash, it is out there. Purching a device that does not support it will limit you ability to surf certain web sites... end of story.

Yes. Skype works, but no video chat on this or iPad.

More interestingly, Google talk works marvelously with video chat, along with Google+ and the 10-person video huddle.

WOW $399 to take notes and play angry birds. I have plenty of free paper note pads and pens at work for taking notes. I have angry birds on my smart phone that i got for free from amazon app of the day. Paying $399 for a notepad is just crazy. You can buy a Xbox 360 and some games and still be under $399. I am willing to bet, people will use their xbox 360 more than this $399 notebook/angry bird game player.

Now don't get me wrong, i am tempted to buy a tablet, but i still can not justify the cost yet and can not find any real uses for it. My smart phone does everything this tablet does plus make calls.

But you all could be right. The Xoom would have to be sent in to get 4G hardware. But I thought Adobe Flash was going to be included with that upgrade.

In any event, I installed 3.1 via the OTA notice, rebooted, etc. and I still could not play Adobe Flash files.

So between that and the microSD slot not working, I lost interest in the Xoom and returned it.

I don't know what you're doing wrong, but like everyone else in this thread, my Wifi Xoom had Flash working out of the box on every site I tried it on.

And although it's a nice-to-have, I've found no need for the microSD slot since it has 32gb of memory and can connect to the computer over USB. Plus the 3.2 update rolling out enables that this week (as others have said). Next complaint, please.

One thing to keep in mind, this thing is relatively heavy.

700g is 1.5 *pounds*, and that's before you add a bumper, case, etc.

To put in in perspective, my Galaxy Tab (7") is only 380 grams, and even that gets heavy to hold in your hands after awhile. My PRS-950 e-reader is 9.6 oz, and it's feathery light in comparison.

But this is by fast the best product description EVAR. I almost want to buy one just for it. I <3 Radiohead.

16:9 is the future. All hd tvs, projectors, widescreen monitors use this aspect ratio. 4:3 is dead, i doubt any tablet will feature this aspect ratio in the future. so it looks like you will be waiting for ever.
