Bought a "Display Model" 32" Magnavox from Target for $380 with 10% off by applying for a Target Card. When Target didn't send me my bill, that extra 10% I saved was tacked on as a late charge. Now I have a cheap TV with black storm clouds rolling into the picture. 5 years ago. This will be a nice replacement.

Just my rotten luck! finally a great deal on a TV but not a --- thing worth watching anywhere. That is why I have to pass.

Ironic that TV programming quality was better when it was free.

YOu shouldn't have any problems with this. If you want the something even more sturdy, get a TV that is backlit with LEDs. This is lit by fluorescent tubes, which lasts a long time (although not as long as LEDs) but are prone to breakage from impact. They also burn hotter and use more electricity.

kurahee wrote:I could not agree with this more. I purchased a Philips TV new, and of course, like this poster says, it died. A quick search on the web showed that my problem was a MAJOR problem for my particular Philips TV, and I was just another lucky owner. It was 3 months past warranty, so tough luck for me. Their customer service sucked, they refused to do anything even though it was a well-known issue, and basically gave me the middle finger of their corporate hand.

I will NEVER buy another Philips product, and I feel obligated to tell as many folks as I can to stay away from their products. I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from them, based on their QC, their customer service, and their complete lack of concern for their customers. If this TV was 5 bucks, I would pass.

Their business model seems to be to build products to last just long enough to make it beyond the warranty date, hope the product dies, and enjoy watching their customers scramble to try to get Philips to fix it.

I loathe Philips. You should too.

Thanks, this doesn't surprise in the least bit. As you said, I loathe the company as well and it's probably the ONLY company in the world that if I see their brand on a product, I will ABSOLUTELY refuse to buy it. Anything but Philips.

Secondly, Phillips DOES NOT have issues that require power saving causing the TV to take 2 minutes to turn on. That is simply false.

It's not insider info if I don't work for either Philips or the hotel chain or in that industry. It's not secret info.

More importantly, regarding the power saving issues. I can promise you that is an issue with MANY of their TVs. Part of my job when I did work for them, was diagnosing them and fixing them. There were WAY too many problems and that one in particular was the most annoying. As part of my reports, I actually timed the tv turn on time. When that mode was set, which for many tvs is factory default, it was about 2:15. When it is turned off those tvs took between 15 and 45 seconds to turn on. Don't say it's false because I've spent many hours working with these POSs.

Not saying that ALL Phillips TV's are bad, but I bought a brand new, 42" 1080P TV with the 120Hz feature in 2009, and just after a year of use (as the one year warrenty expires no less) this happens:

Just get an extended warrenty if you already bought the TV.

You didn't have to buy it from woot. You could've paid a little bit more at WalMart to satiate your need for instant gratification.

Thanks, I stopped by to see what was going on with this TV i guess I'm in the same boat as everyone else, waiting for a shipped notice.

I bought this because it is very much like the one in my living room that I have had for a few years, BTW great tv.

Good things at great prices are worth waiting for.

Unless you don't count the day you ordered the TV (which was a business day btw) then today is day 5. Still I think a little patience goes a long way everyone. If you don't get a notice by tomorrow, maybe call to make sure nothing is wrong with your order or to see of there is a hold up. I ordered this TV as well and I find it takes Woot at LEAST 5 business days to ship and then the shipping is another 4-5 days so.....

A good rule of thumb is that if you are impatient, need immediate gratification or need something ASAP, go spend the extra cash to get it from a retailer that ships within 24 hours. That being said I'm excited for my TV and love Woot.

I couldn't agree more. The key is that Woot! states that your order will typically ship within 5 days. I have found that sometimes it may take a little longer, sometimes it may be a little shorter. But to ship for $5 is a great deal. If you need something right away, then as good as Woot! is, you may need to consider another source that can meet your time frame.

At least personally speaking, I don't think it's an issue of instant gratification, it's more an issue of customer service, customer communication and proper business techniques. If I were to go to the Woot offices, accept money to replace their broken toilets, then sit on the money for seven days without communicating when I'm going to start the work, or even why it's taking so long for me to get started in the first place, I believe they'd pitch a fit. Come on, guys you're a Texas based company. That's not how we do business in Texas, you know that.

So really Woot, just let us know what's up? That's all we need.

I agree! This is my first time ordering from this site and you better believe it will be my last! This is horrible! I ordered a air conditioner from Amazon two days after this TV and got it YESTERDAY! And these Woot people can't even send a TV! Today is the fifth day. They were quick to take my money out my account, but not quick to ship. Woot, your customer service is a 0 on a scale of 0-10. And if my tv isn't shipped today, I'm looking to sue!

Maybe not sue, but they can let someone know what's the hold up. Today is day five and I want to know where my TV is so I know I didn't get robbed for $266! I'm from Brooklyn and don't have a lot of patience. I just want my TV and for it to be in good condition.

You didn't get robbed. Woot is a very reputable company and you're buying things at a huge markdown. They said shipping takes approximately 5 business days... you can give or take 1 or 2 days, but you had the option of going down to the local store in your area and paying $100-200 more for this exact TV.

Typically within 5 business days...

The were still collecting orders on the day of the woot. I'd think they'd go out today or Monday at the latest.

As long as me not receiving my tv is not an isolated incident, I'm fine. I have slipped through the cracks with amazon before, not receiving something for months.

I trust woot and know they are trying to ship an enormous amount of tvs...for $5 a piece.

Simmer down. You could easily write to Woot by clicking that helpful "Write Us" link at the top of the page if you're that concerned. I've been a Woot customer for six years, and they will send you an email with tracking information once your order ships. Like it says in the FAQs, "Take a breath. Have a cup of coffee. Patience in all things, grasshopper."

Dude!!!! The laptop that sold on the 23rd has been shipped! The vacuum that sold on the 24th has been shipped!!!!! Why hasnt our tv which was sold on the 22nd been shipped???????? Seems a little backwards to me! This is my first woot purchase and I have to say that they are not up to par! Why would those items get sent out before the tv? Its not like they were little items, they were large items as well! Seems like they got things a little mixed up there!
