Ordered two and they showed up this evening. One is fine, the other has a defective battery (it's bulging and won't fit into the case).

I called the number on the manual and talked to one of the techs - after explaining the issue, he put me on hold, came back a few minutes later and told me that I needed to return my unit to WOOT.

Correct or is the tech misinformed?

Thanks!

K

Did you put it on the battery charger overnight first? Thats recommended or it may not have enough juice before that to power the LCD.

If you are using IE8 or IE9, I'd suggest trying to complete the registration via another browser such as Firefox or Chrome. I've encountered this infrequently while using IE9 and using another browser allowed me to complete the process. Hope this helps.

Yeah that's definitely not the problem, the LCD is crazy. I sent some pics to woot! and they are sending me a new unit. Thanks though.

You have to use Internet Explorer.. I got the same thing when I tried it using Firefox...

I received notification earlier today that my remote had been delivered. Just waiting to go home after work and check it out. I hope it is in good condition, unlike some early reports I am seeing.

I will report back with more info later.

Got mine all set up and loving it so far. Couple of tweaks needed to be done here and there, but all in all it was a snap to setup. This thing does more than I would ever need from a remote. Nice to know it's there though. All I need to do now is set up a profile for me and my girl and add favorites. This was a great deal!

same here sadly... LiION is badly bloated. Device not usable and cannot be tested/does not light up on charger or USB cable.

Received my two. So far I have programmed 3 TVs, Sat Dish, Roku, HDMI Switch, VCR, CD Player, and Receiver. Having problems with my LaserDisc player (yep, still have one) and a cheap Insignia Home Theater System

So far very cool, but painfully slow in programming!

I got mine today and started using it. I got my TV and my old stereo system (for audio) synched but cannot get my Xbox 360 Slim to work with the device. When I try to add the device to it (and I've tried nearly all of their 360 options), it will turn on the 360, navigate menus, but the little buttons (red, green, yellow, and blue) will not do what they normally do on the 360. There is no way to go "back" from any other button either as I tried all of them also.

I even tried the teaching the remote option and that failed to even get anything from the controller as I pressed the button to correspond to it.

To the person who was able to configure this remote with the 360, was it one of the new slim models and if so, what did you do exactly?

Any help would be appreciated as I can't find any information online about this remote and the 360 slim.

Thanks,
Matt

P.S. I only bought this remote for these three devices (right now) and would be extremely disappointed if it did not work for the 360 I own.

I got mine delivered today. Trying to get it set up and I can't believe how slow the configuration website is. I don't know why they would have made it web based instead of a stand-alone program. Each thing I click takes 60-90 seconds for it to respond! It'll take hours to program it at this rate!

Well, after 20 minutes of waiting, and waiting, and waiting... it finally decided to kick me back to the log in screen. What a stupid way to program a remote. I might just stay with my Harmony if this is how it always is.

With over 8,000 units being sold, I'm thinking that it's getting hammered. It was fine for me earlier today.

Yep, programming was a breeze this morning at 6:30 AM EDT.

Anyone else have their remote(s) losing the time setting? Both mine do.

Activities and Favorites is pretty cool. I like be able to program one button to turn everything off or turn things on to specific settings.

Yeah, this morning it was certainly much more usable. One issue I am having though is if I go to set up an activity using their wizard, once I get about 2 steps in, it jumps be back to the login screen. If I instead use the advanced setup, then I can complete it fine. Anyone else having this?

Interesting article about bloated/swollen lithium battery packs and the cause for that:
http://blogs.uci.edu/lifepo4battery/2011/05/19/swollen-lithium-batteries-swell-costs/

Looks like its caused typically by overcharging and sitting a long time under hot weather conditions. Could the Texas warehouse where the units have been stored been very hot recently?

This might be the last time I order from Woot. It was suppose to be here today (11th)but it left a location and who knows where it is.
So I have to put brand new batteries for this remote? Interesting!!! :-(

Ya think? woot! kindly offered to let me return the whole thing and order another. Which I'm not convinced would solve the issue, since others seem to have the same problem.

So: looking for cheap replacement battery.

Woot should just ship a good new replacement battery instead of the whole package since it may also have an overheated battery from sitting long in a hot warehouse.

Here is a source for a compatable lithium battery pack I found online, for $9 + shipping:

Got mine today, ahead of scheduled arrival date.. So far it's a lil bit of awesome. It has worked with most if my electronics right out of the box, even my OLD ¥$$ tv.. Unfortunately I'll have to hook it up to the computer to get the codes for my dtv converter box..
Hopefully I'll have the same luck with the electronics in the rest if the house.. It'll be nice to have one remote to control the whole house..

I was kinda surprised by the weight if this thing. At least I know if there is an unexpected intruder, I'll have something handy to lay them out with... lol...

ubelong2matt,

On my new Xbox i selected Xbox 360 and it works. The red and green buttons are reversed though. I will try to fix it eventually.

I've been taking forever trying to program this thing, not because I'm incompetent but because this site is so god damn slow.

I received the remote yesterday. After playing around for about 1 hour, I finally had the device hooked up to the website and programmed the remote and one activity - watch tv. But, for my tv, a proscan, the onscreen hdmi1 and hdmi2 inputs didn't work, so I was unable to use the activity - watch tv. The input button does work to change to the correct input, but not the automatic. I assume there is some elaborate method to manually program it, but it will entail work.

I plugged in into my windows 7 machine this evening to try and play with the programming and the website won't come up and it does have to be a newer version of IE - not firefox. It just gives me a cannot display page error. Once it did give me the login page tonight, but then it wouldn't load the next page. I assume the website is being wonky because I did get the activex set up correctly yesterday.

So, now I have a remote that I can't update via the website because the website doesn't want to load.

I'm returning the device.

Just disappointed - had high hopes for it.

The site is just ridiculously slow and you might be getting the short end of the stick. Like how Bundle of Crops make everything slow down to a crawl and some people get errors while some get to buy it.

The web interface to program the remote acts like its run off a C-64 box on a 33.6 baud modem. Slowest... thing... ever.

Got mine a couple of days ago. The screen was also acting up. I connected it to my computer, registered to the website, and it asked me to update the remote. Once updated, the remote started working perfectly. I did not get any lags on the website. It took me may be 20 mins to program online my flat screen, BluRay player,DVD player, surround sound, DirecTV HD DVR Receiver, and my media center computer. They all worked on the firt try. Then added 2 activites. One to watch TV, and another to watch BluRay. Very fast and smooth. Loving it!
Should have ordered 2....

Same here. No problems at all and loving it.

Just set up a Macros that turns off my DVR, switches the input on my TV to HDMI2, changes the source on my surround sound and turns on my PS3. All with the touch of ONE button.

I read a view reviews on Amazon the other day saying the same thing.. I forgot about it until reading your post..

I have a feeling that the object making the rattling noise is the same thing that makes the device light up when you bump or shake it...
