mrabu wrote:I hate to do this to you all but you sound like whiney baby's. I didn't get $100 bucks back when they dropped the price of the Wii from $250 to $150. Electronics always drop if you buy early you pay a premium. 2 weeks is rough but I would be happy that they are working to come to a resolution. BB and other retailers may just be fronts selling HP inventory for a cut where as woot in order to get better prices for us probably bout these outright and will need to get a refund from HP before they can give it to you. The only reason I am interested in seeing this resolved is because it didn't sell out so I know they have some left and they can't sell them at $99 till this gets resolved. In all seriousness with the actual market value they would be better off returning the unopened ones and selling them for $200, more profit to subsidize the Bundle of Crops#39;s.

Big difference: Nintendo didn't abandon the wii 48 days after launch.

Any update on this WOOT? I would be willing to take (in order of my preference):
1) A refund for the difference
2) Amazon store credit
3) RMA

I've been patient but this is really starting to get aggravating....

Just got my RMA and will be going back today.

Whiney or not, informed customers are quiet customers & typically a lot more content.

We have two non-woot! TouchPads & also a sibling with one. We have been refunded the difference on our purchases vs. the fire sale price for all three of those. Here is the detail:

Wal-Mart: Launch Day Purchase (7/1/11) - Price matched to fire sale price on 8/26/2011.

Office Depot: Purchased 7/30 - Price matched to fire sale price on 8/20/2011.

Best Buy: Purchased 8/5 - Price matched to fire sale price on 8/21/2011.

I get that woot! isn't brick & mortar, & that woot! has a different business model. I think most people are saying it would be nice to get an update with some real substance behind it. Some of us don't have any intention of returning our TouchPads, so RMA just isn't going to work.

It's my birthday tomorrow. Any chance I'll get a birthday present from Woot: an answer to our questions--

1. What is Woot's decision?

2. Why did it take so long to get an answer?

(I hope that doesn't sound too "Whiney.")

We understand that waiting is not ideal, so if you would rather not wait we can assist you with a RMA for a full refund- just sent us an email. Otherwise, we'll get back to you with some sort of resolution to this mess.

Dennis,

Any news since your last post on Aug. 26th?

If you use twitter, you can contact @wootservice and at least get a reply. Not much info, but at least someone replies. And they can assist with returns. On this blog, it seems like we're talking to each other.

I don't really want to (I kind of like it) but if I don't get an answer by Friday I'm going to request an RMA.

This is not the same as the expected price drops on an item getting old, or remaindered. Three things to remember:
1) At the time, the item had been on the market less than 2 months.
2) The assumption was that this was going to be a viable product for a while, a year at least.
3) (Most galling) HP had decided they were going to kill the product at the time of the sale. Yes, Woot didn't know, but HP did.

Most important here:
All other retailers have refunded the difference (Wal Mart, BestBuy, etc). Woot and Amazon have not. Please do the right thing yourselves.

I've been called worse... and if I get my $839 credit you can call me anything you want. But ONLY if Woot DOES THE RIGHT THING and refunds the difference like the other retailers have done.

I look forward to a fair resolution that is comparable to what other Touchpad purchasers received.

I am with you WilfBrim. Woot! has until this Friday to give me an answer, or I am requesting an RMA and getting another Touchpad elsewhere. I can't believe that they haven't updated us since Dennis' post on the 26th. I am beginning to be disappointed in Woot!

The lack of any information is really hard to understand. Why doesn't someone from Woot say something?

From Woot's auto-reply, on August 23rd, 2011:

"Please be confident that we will respond and resolve your issue in a timely and efficient manner."

I'm not so confident anymore.. Woot, what's the haps?

AlabamaGiGi

Dennis.... PLEASE give us an update.

filpenny

quality posts: 9 Private Messages filpenny

I was just told 'we're working on it' and that they'd be happy to initiate a return if I didn't want to wait.

I responded that I'd be more than happy to wait if I had some confirmation beyond 'maybe a partial credit' was in the works. If woot says I'll be getting a $279 credit, I'll wait another two weeks for it to go through. But all we've been told is 'wait wait wait' with no indication of what the final outcome is going to be. We don't know if there's going to be a credit, a partial refund, or a shrug with a 'shiat happens' reply.

It's hard to understand what could possibly be taking so long to decide on a policy and why Woot would give it's Customers so little information. So, yes, people are frustrated.

I personally haven't called Woot.

Dennis,

I know you have more than just "we are working with HP"... What is the status? When is the last you heard from them? What is woot doing to get their attention?

How hard is it to take 60 seconds to reply to us?

Or does woot really just not give a f*** at all?

"Patient" was about a week ago. Now it's just getting ridiculous.

My opinion of Woot has dropped dramatically over the last week.

It does NOT take much to provide a small amount of information to us on the status of the issue.

Your customers make your site possible. Treat them well.

"Just rec'd a $100 ref from woot. Was hoping for more."

Same here. So $279 for a $99 tablet or refund it for full price and hope to get a $99 deal when HP has more (which will be a challenge). Not happy at all and not likely to ever buy from Woot.

We just sent out an email explaining the situation. Sorry it took us so long, we had to get the right people together to get this issue fixed.

The "offer" is insulting. Other retailers give their customers the full difference in price. Why can't Woot do the same? Did Woot get the full refund from HP? If so, what happened to the other $160? If not, why not? A quirky email does not make up for the lack of transparency and failure to keep your customers informed.
