Google "iTunes Alternative' and you will find there are plenty alternatives to iTunes!
Although, I have to be honest, I agree if your library is 'unorganized' it is a mess. However, if you take the time to organize it and keep it organized (not really that hard to do) I personally think it works really well! I have multiple iPhones/iPods that I sync and I can use my main library and sync playlists as I feel the need. It is still 'drag and drop' except you do it in your library. Once you create a playlist and you want to add a song instead of dragging the ENTIRE selection (again) you add one song to the library and you're all set!
It takes a little time, but from what I can tell, well worth it!
Besides, the 'Genius Playlists' are awesome on my Apple TV! Either the lists that iTunes creates or (even better) on the fly based on the song that is currently playing!
