I might be a little concerned, as you can clearly see the picture is broken .

I actually had to check to make sure they weren't using a photo I took. I'd know a broken downtown SF Market Street light against those red bricks anywhere.

Oh it matters... Numbers always matter. Deep down in side you will know you ONLY have a 720 resolution and your neighbor has 1080. "Hey Bob, what resolution is that... Oh. 720P? O... well mine is 1080p." he says in attempt to crush your soul.

Here is another 1080p for those guys who need to show "BOB" a thing or two.

I have had this TV for about 3 months. It's nothing spectacular, but not bad either. Well worth this price in my opinion.

This is just MHO, but I'd stay very far away from Philips TVs.

I bought a new one that crapped out right after the warranty (naturally), and they wouldn't fix it (naturally). That's not what pissed me off, though. After doing a bit of research on the web, I found that the particular model I had failed the exact same way my TV failed for a ton of people. So many complaints about it, in fact, that if I did my research before buying, I would have never bought the damn thing. Hell, I have Sony's going on 15 years. TV's aren't supposed to die at the rate their TV's do. The fact that these are refurbished just tells me that they still have crappy Quality Control and are still selling defective electronic equipment.

I don't know what happened to Philips, but they used to have a good name in electronics, and now, they aren't worth the trouble. All I can tell you is their customer service sucks, their product sucks, and there are a LOT of angry people out there that complain about Philips on a regular basis.

Do a search on this model and see what tends to fail on the machine. I'll bet it's a problem with the motherboard, with a bad connection or resistor that needs to be replaced.

No thanks, woot.

There is a very good saving here when compared to Amazon.

Philips 32PFL3504D/F7 model also has a good deal here.

I got one of these last time it was here and I like it. The remote has to be aimed more carefully than I prefer, but it's a good TV. Beware apple laptop users - the HDMI ports expect audio to come in over the wire, so you'll have to use separate speakers. I don't know about other computer vendors, but apple doesn't send audio out over the display port.

All
The last time woot offered these was 22 Jul 11 (recommend going back & reading the community pages). They took 5+ days to ship & receive. Alot of people got theirs in broken condition and then had to deal directly with Philips to get replacements. Dealing with Philips -- after you contact them, you have to wait two days for them to contact you & arrange another 5-day shipment. They only ship another refurb! I finally got my replacement and it works -- my opinion, just spend the extra and go to Best Buy etc.....
It's a great price but in the end, I don't expect it to last much longer past the 90 day warranty.... Best of luck....

I purchase one of these about a year ago, no problems. great for a bedroom or kids room. picture quality its pretty good, the brightness auto-adjusts to the room, and the sound is slightly above average.

32" ought to be 1080p these days. This would be a terrible choice for anything but a bedroom TV or something like that; it's too small to see clearly from more than about 6' away, and it's overpriced for that application in my opinion. The panel isn't anything special, nothing about it is, and to top it off if you had designs to do use it as a monitor nix that because the resolution's too low for the size.

To Woot or not to Woot! Wait!! let me refurbish the question. Should I buy this refurbished pretty good price TV or buy new Philips 32-Inch 1080p LED LCD HDTV for a few buckeroos more? Hmmm, that is the question...

A thought - wouldn't it be really fun to skip the tired old 1080/720 <40" >24" etc, discussion? Can we assume that everybody knows the ins and outs by now? It's an inexpensive TV. If you expect everyone to pass because it doesn't have an instantaneous response time, or 10 billion to 1 contrast ratio, or 1080p, then maybe you don't understand why people sometimes opt for inexpensive.

Personally, I'm not in for this one, but I don't think that everyone else should pass, just because I did.

I got one of these for my parent's bedroom last time it was on here. While the picture quality and size is great for that use, the TV itself has a problem. You need to turn it on repeatedly. Sometimes it turns on the first time (rarely), other times it take or three times, and other times it takes 5 or more times. I need to contact Woot to see if I can get that addressed since I'm 11 days past the 90 days from when I bought it.

Really? The room I installed this in has the viewing position at about 9' - 10' away and it looks just as good as my 42" 1080 TV that I sit about 7' from. If you can tell a difference between 720 and 1080 on a TV this size, I'll eat my shorts.

The company philosophy? They're trying to develop things that they can sell and make money, like every company. The thing you're talking about is hardly unethical - as much as everyone hates watching commericals, they actually pay for the content. If you think about it, the unethical thing is actually to take programming that's paid for by commericals and remove the commercials (or provide a way for the consumer to do so). Just because we're all used to being able to do it doesn't mean it's right.

I agree that the Philips brand is low-end.

I got Wooted one of these about two months ago, it arrived in like new condition, and has been working fine. The only (slight) downside I have found is that the program "guide" only shows the current program info. Other than that, it's a nice, though basic, TV.

Your preferences are your business (both when it comes to distinguishable differences at the size and resolution, and where you prefer to get your fiber). I'm pointing out that there are a number of purposes for which this would be miserable for most people. If you're using it as a monitor, for example, it wasn't long ago that 16:10 monitors rated 1200 vertical pixels at resolutions above 21"; now the 16:10 standard is dropping off, but nonetheless you can very, very easily perceive a difference between 720p and 1080p on much smaller screens (22-24") when using multi-purpose sets as monitors. That's within a typical viewing distance of a computer, usually 2' to 3'.

Again, your preferences and your standards are your business, but at 32", those are fairly large pixels and would make it a poor choice for viewing at typical living room distances, strictly going on how much of your field of view is occupied by the set.
