It is showing me that there is a wireless adapter under Device Manager but it is not picking up any wireless connections. I looked on the back of the computer and there is the golden plated antenna area for the wireless but there is no antenna attached to it? Could that be the problem? I haven't used a PC in a long time, so I am not familiar with wireless cards in general.
If someone can tell me what I should do, I'd appreciate it. I just assumed that it would pick up a wireless connection right of the bat.
Other than that, it seems quite fast and all good.
The two versions that were part of this offering were both suppose to have an internal antenna. If you have one with an external antenna connector I would guess someone got there model numbers mixed up. I have 2 very similar systems to the one's here but they do have an external antenna connector and came with an antenna(as they were suppose to).
The HP Pavilion 6000 series generally only have minor differences. The processor speed and number of cores, amount of memory, size of disk drive seem to be the main changes.
On your system there will be a label, most likely located on the left side(as viewed from the from) near the top front. It should have either BV530AA or BV545AA for the 2 models offered. If not they substituted another version. The other option is that when it was refurbished(assuming that one of the numbers above was correct) that they substituted another wireless card and forgot to include the antenna.
I guess there could be other options, at least this should give you some place to start checking.

I checked that sticker you mentioned and it says BV530AAR#ABA.
They obviously forgot the antenna. Would any antenna work or does it have to be the same brand that the wireless card is? I assume any antenna should work but thought I should check with more knowledgable guys like yourself here.
I agree with moneyfornothing's answer. HP failed to supply an antenna, which would have made a complete system.
As to your question about available antennas, there are any number available, including standard and hi-gain ones. If you decide to go this route, make sure it was designed for a wi-fi adapter with 802.11 b/g/n capabilities at 2.4 GHz. My first choice would be to contact HP and have them correct their oversight.
The technical part of me would make one more check before calling HP. Open the access panel and verify the cabling, they most likely will ask you that when you call. Having access just makes it easier for everyone. If you still have questions, I'll keep an eye open to this discussion for a while. Good luck.

Got the pc on Saturday. FedEx used Home Delivery service which will leave package on weekends. Nice pc. Very impressed with speed and wireless internet. Haven't opened up box to see innards but know I will have to replace power supply with bigger one and add another hard drive. Looks a good all-around purchase. Wish I had bought a few additional ones.

I think you may be surprised on how much you can add without a larger power supply. I've been running one of mine with 2 hard drives, a PCI express GeForce 8500 GT graphics card and 8GB of memory for months now. Another with 2 hard drives, and additional DVD writer and 6GB of memory since February. There are limits, but I haven't reached them on mine.
I've been very happy with my purchases and if it wasn't for my daughter's wedding(which is much more important to me) I might have snatched up another myself.
