Woot has upgraded the Two for Tuesday to a Trio for Tuesday.

Mac users:

This is actually compatible with Macbook Pro aluminum unibody laptops, the Macbook aluminum unibody 13", and older aluminum non-unibody models. However, Apple recommends its own proprietary file encryption rather than such drastic measures.

This is NOT compatible with any non-aluminum Macbook models (Apple notes that the plastic gets everywhere and basic Macbook users aren't doing important enough work to justify the use of a Dremel tool).

See link for using this on aluminum Macbook models:

I've seen this before on Robocop. Not really sure I want it running around in the house.

I had a Roto-zip, which was great for drywall. One kitchen sink cutout, and it was cooked.
The B & D is OK. I use one with a diamond blade to sharpen tungsten.
So, I see the pictures, but I still don't get it. How big of a dado are you going to be able to cut with this? Why would you use this instead of a real router. It just seems so limiting.

So seriously. You folks that actually use this, tell me what you can build with it.

I bought one of these, and did not like it. The dremel bits the store sold me with it (Dremel brand) didn't even fit their own tool. It's hard to find bits, you have to get the specialized ones from Dremels, so they're hard to find. If you're just doing around the house stuff, go for it, but it you're doing wood work and constantly need bits or power, I say go for something else. I took this one back the first day for a small Bosch router.

According to this review, the Trio only has two major advantages over the ordinary Dremel tools: The pivoting handle and the 2.0 Amp motor, which provides more torque. I can't argue with the unique handle, although I don't know how useful it actually is. For the 2.0 Amp motor, though, a much more versatile and economical setup is to get the the highly-touted $28.99 Black & Decker RTX-B 3 Speed RTX Rotary Tool with Storage Case. Not only will you get a 2.0 amp motor with twice the torque of most Dremels, but it's also only about half the price and many reviewers say that it's better built. I got the model with continuous speed control (not just 3 speeds) for the same price a few years ago. Not only will it accept regular rotary attachments, but you can also hold it like a normal rotary tool for precision work. Add in a router attachment and you basically have this TRio with a lot more accessories. At least one Amazon reviewer confirmed that the below $22.83 Dremel 335-01 Plunge Router does fit the B&D.

Total Amazon price for the Black & Decker and router attachment is $50 (free s/h), which is cheaper than this router. And since you likely already have many standard rotary bits, you won't have to spend extra for non-standard bits.

They didn't fit in what way? Did they require a different collet than the one provided?

Amazon e-mail price 59.99--but no way to buy it at that price!!!!!!!!!!!
