Does anyone know how well these would work for backpacking, or are the filters low quality?

Do you fill the bottle and then it filters as you drink or does it filter as you fill the bottle. I don't know if I want that whole filter in there taking up space where more water could go.

Got a two pack of these last time they were on woot. I have yet to recieve them....

If you put filtered water in these, nothing comes out.

How hard is it find replacement filters and how much do they cost?

You know there seems something a little wrong with me sitting here on my day off watching "Let's Make A Deal" and the Woot-Off at the same time.

Replacement filters cost more than the bottles (at Woot prices) - but not by as much as I'd thought.

i had one and lost it, the filters screw off and cost about 11$ for a 2 pack

These are tap filters, not survival filters.

I'd be in for 2 or 3, but 24 oz is just too small for me. I need an all-day bottle.

$10-20 on amazon. Reviews are pretty good, odd complaints like over-tightening issues, and hard to open with teeth (?)

I checked another web site for this product and one of the manufacturer's warnings was to not use the bottle with water that is not microbially safe or of unknown quality. I suppose that means that despite having a microbial filter you shouldn't expect it to filter microbes. It probably is just good for removing some chlorine taste from tap water. I would skip this and invest in an MSR Miniworks for backpacking. I've used one for years and it's beyond awesome.

These are great at removing the yellow color and foul taste of iodine tablets.

(Just be sure to let the treated water sit for the length of time stated on the iodine packaging before pouring into the bottle and filtering.)

Finally a better way to drink my own pee when I'm backpacking.

Found the replacement filters over on Amazon. Easy to order, but on the expensive side, basically 2 for $5.

Replacement filters are about 11 dollars on amazon and they seem to have a generally good reputation. I'm in for a couple even if they wont work for backpacking I can bring them to thy gym.

Anyone know if the filter is good at getting rid of the plastic-y taste that water bottles like this tend to give to the water that they hold?

Roommate always be stealin' my brita jug water, so now funky tap water can suffice for fillin' up sports bottle b4 the B-Ball begins.

Given the cost, the filters are probably not changeable or not worth the effort to change. But hey, it will last you for 100 gallons so there is some cost savings going on there. Combine that with apps in cities where places will let you fill up a water bottle for free and you are good to go.
