It's a tent. Isn't it more like 2BR/infinity Bath

Tents with 10-yr warranties are ok, but brands like Mountain HardWear and The North Face offer LIFETIME WARRANTY! You can get AMAZING tents, sometimes expedition quality tents, for great sale prices at outfitters stores like East Ridge Outfitters. All of these tents have lifetime warranties! Plus, local shops contribute back to the community!

There is an abundance of concern about the temp. control rating of this tent. I believe it is meant to keep out wind, rain, and bugs. It ALSO generously allows portable fans when needed AND an amazing invention, called a toasty warm sleeping bag. Too cold? Snuggle into bag. Too hot? UNsnuggle. Nature will worry about temp. control. Nature....you know that thing you are supposedly seeking to experience.

This is some of the best discussion nonsense I've ever seen! Hilarious that a tent made of fabric would actually be temp rated. I've camped in snow, rain, hail, high winds, under 0, over 100. Put something under your tent, get a tarp or a damn good rainfly for storms, dig a drainage trench for torrential rains and use appropriately temp rated bags. Never use those pathetic stakes, buy your favorites. This thing is probably great for car camping in most situations with a little preparation.

Put it on a small trailer, and you have an insta-pop-up! Like this one: Really?
but for a fraction of the cost!

This is a great tent; I've had it for the past 3 camping trips I've been on. Plenty of room both height and width wise inside, only thing is to make sure and bring a pad for the ground... unless of course you're camping out in the bouncy castle of your mega-yacht.

BigD wrote:You do realize that Wenzel (the company that makes this tent) is also the company that makes Kelty right?

First of all, I don't even think that this is true.

Second of all, even if it were, it doesn't mean that Wenzel (or "Mountain Trails") is the same quality tent as Kelty. It is not. Wenzel makes low to decent quality tents at a budget price. Kelty makes good (not great) quality tents at a moderate price. A Kelty brand tent will always be of better quality and workmanship than a Wenzel.

$59.88 at Farm and Fleet. With Tax and Shipping, came in under $75. About $10 cheaper if you live near one that has it in stock.

I really have no plans to go camping anytime soon, but Oct. is not too late to camp in Central Fl.. I bought one because I live a couple of blocks from the Gulf of Mexico, and if worse came to worse I could leave town and live in this thing for a short while. And it's big enough to hold me and my three small dogs.

I have always camped in a tent like this for burning man (5 year vet). It will last about 3-4 burns. TIPS:

1. Set it up at home to see what sheet fits for dust proofing: ie. get a queen sized sheet and about 25 metal binder clips from staples. Use the metal binders to clip the sheet to the tent / poles to cover the netting snug, THEN put the rainfly over that, keeps most dust out.

2. Fits a queen size inflatable mattress, get one with an external DC rechargeable / battery power blower, that same blower you can use to blow the dust out of the tent if it collects over a few days.

3. Get some soda or wooden crates (watch out for nails / splinters) to raise the mattress off the ground, this helps maintain a comfortable temp. The ground makes the mattress hot / cold fast.

4. Don't expect to sleep between 10am - 6:30pm the tent gets entirely too hot for sleeping unless you have some way to keep it cool like a really good shade structure, AC if you have a generator or DIY swamp cooler (google "swamp cooler burning man").

good luck and happy burnin'

a cold weather tent will have aluminum poles instead of fiberglass. Also, a cold weather tent will have close-able windows, which actually does trap a quite bit of heat. still, u do need a warm sleeping bag.

amy wich seals nicely. Or, which I did this year, make yourself a Hexayurt. Will cost you about $300 to make, but you will stay cooler in the day and warmer at hight. Amazing.

google 'hexayurt' and 'burning man' and you'll find all the instructions...

had a tent like this from kelty. good tent overall as long as it is sheltered from the wind. these poles are not made to to withstand more than 20mph winds.

East Ridge Outfitters isn't a local shop for me so they don't really contribute to my community whatsoever... However, Woot headquarters are a few miles down the road from me so every time I woot I'm supporting my local economy.

As a minimalist camper I'll keep waiting for a Big Agnes seedhouse to show up to show that support.

Woot, I'm done coming to this site for these sorry deals. I used to come to this site hoping to get a good deal, but that hope has been widdled down to intense skepticism through year after year of mediocre deals.

I've been coming for 7 or 8 years, but it's over. No woot offs, no nothing. Peace.

Why does the ground need a pad? It's not happy with being the ground anymore? It needs a pad? Camping sure has changed...

Well, by looking at mine, when you open the box it does appear used, but I think that is because of the way its packaged. I think most people would expect a tent to be in a storage bag, but I don't think this model comes in a bag. I unrolled mine and it's new as far as I can tell.

I just got the tent. Very disappointed. There is no manual. The shipping box is in tearing state. Looked like it is used before. I bought this for next year. This is my first tent. I won't know how to set it up without a manual. Plus I have no way to tell if all the parts included. I will contact woot to see if I can get it returned.

Just got back from using it this weekend.

When shipped, it came in pretty beat up. Massive, but pretty easy to put up and take down.

Not a cooler weather tent at all... Floor is showing signs of stress and a couple of possible punctures. Will need to by a ground cover for it. It's going to be great for summer sleepovers and camping trips though!

I just got my tent and haven't opened it yet. The box clearly has been opened and someone did a pretty bad job of resealing it. If woot is going to sell something that is clearly opened packaging they should mark it as refurbished or open package. This is bad form woot.

Update: I have now opened it and it appears to be new so probably no issues. Still, this is not how I expected to receive my tent. I will go through it and try to determine if it is all there and in good condition. I will set it up as soon as I have enough dry weather to have dry grass to set it on...which, living in the Seattle area should be around mid-July, 2012.

Update 2: It's missing the poles and stakes! Ugh! I guess it's going back.

Do not use in winds over 5 miles per hour. First time using it the rain fly ripped and the tent fell over.

Yikes! I'm glad everything came out ok though. Can you send the pics to service@woot.com? We might need to rethink the way we ship these.
