The red ones taste best!

Huh? Aren't these the litle wax juice bottles we had as kids? Well, bulk glow sticks are great, too. In for three sets.

I'll be giving these out on Halloween. The kids will love them and their parents will be able to find them if they run too far ahead.

I admit, I was half expecting an ipod or ipad or some other device that would be a bit topical given the news of Steve Jobs death.

But hey, Glow Sticks!

warning, friends: glow sticks can Break Open and Leak the florescent stuff everywhere. that can't be good. so, be careful when these are in the hands of little ones, please! there's the risk of kids ingesting this and/or of it making contact with their skin

i'm concerned about some degree of toxicity -- not an unsightly mess (sorry) -- even though the description states that the glowing substance is safe. um, says who??

of course we want our kids to be super visible when they're walking around in the dark on halloween. i'm merely suggesting supervised use, since these are NOT toys.

So I was wondering if these would be good to pass out to trick or treaters that should already have em... safety first.

This site here has a bunch of interesting tips to coincide with having glow sticks... such as,

"Hurting animals is never acceptable behavior! Some people use Halloween as an excuse to hurt cats and that is just wrong!"

and

"Vandalism is never cool! Throwing eggs at cars and houses is not cool."

Nice price for sticks, and a great Halloween addition. I give these out with candy, keeps kids safe, and you know if they've been to your house before.

So it's the same price, for 25 instead of 24. If you are ordering only 1 (24).

Yeah, there were so many hits for glow sticks, I put the 8.99 price that another amazon seller has for 24 for the one that has 7.99 for 25... fixed.

Wow, time to stock up for the G.ay Pride parade in NYC! They're even rather phallic looking... although being only 4", these may not be such a hit...

In for 3...

We've been giving the trick-or-treaters glow necklaces for a couple of years now and they love them. Heard many kids murmur "cool" as they scamper away.

These are perfect to stick on your kids for Trick or Treating. Not only do they keep your kid visible to any traffic, but your kids will absolutely love them. Just be warned that the cheap ones only last an hour with decent visibility and fun, so you may need to take an extra pack to crack open halfway through.

I bought these, out of the sheer joy that I would have had when i was 12 years old with 72 glow in the dark glow sticks!!

I'm thinking they might make cool mood lighting for 24 year old me ;)

Yes, you are missing that the 4" glowsticks are glowSTICKS and the 8" glowbands are super thin flimsy glow strands that break at the slightest abuse (which, of course, are what light sticks are for on halloween). I've seen those bands break all over the place making an aweful mess and really annoying other parents. I would guess the 4" sticks have 3-4x the glowy stuff as the 8" bands.

Thanks for pointing that out. I am in for 3 of the WOOT and 1 order of the bracelets. These will be great for the school's "Harvest Festival" as prizes or money raisers.

How long will they glow?

How bright are they? (Bright enough to provide illumination, to see where you're going, or only bright enough to see that they're there?)

Here's a helpful hint:
If you don't plan on using these quickly, put them in the fridge or freezer. They'll have a much longer shelf life. I had a glow stick in my freezer that still worked 10+ years later.

I haven't verified this but I believe you can also extend the glow time by freezing. More specifically, I think you can stop or dim the glowing by freezing. In other words, if you only need it to glow for an hour, I think you can slow the chemical reaction by freezing. That way, you can reuse it at will by defrosting until the chemicals are completely spent. Again, I haven't verified this but have heard about it from friends. And it does make scientific sense.
