Let one of these go through the wash in your pocket and you'll understand why they are waterproof?

Do NOT BUY!!!
I got one from previous sale. Checked the waterproof claim, by peeing on it. My computer blew up. They did not mention that I had to disconnect the drive from computer.

I purchased one of these last time they were available. Let me tell you, this flash drive is S-L-O-W.

For those of us who don't always check the pockets this might be just the gadget we need. I did leave one in a pocket, and it was ruined.

I have trouble with computers not recognizing the USB drive when I use data sticks, so am reluctant to spend this kind of money. Any clues why they aren't recognized?

I usually hang my work ID's and thumb drives off of a carabiner on my belt loop. So, I need something durable. Waterproof is a bonus when working in the rain.. but.. the removable cap is a turnoff.. prone to being lost.

Various reasons, one could be that the computer is trying to assign a drive letter to the usb key that is already being used as a network drive. Usually just go to computer management and give it a new drive letter so that it shows up in explorer. This particular situation happens a lot on my work computer.

Be very careful about memory on the Internet. If you see any memory for a too-good-to-be-true price, it probably is. There is probably more counterfeit memory sold online than legitimate memory.

Yeah... this is day 1 right? Sometimes I will miss a day checking woot... think I checked yesterday.

If this is day 1- the the ballyhoo of cobwebs will probably be tomorrow. It is usually day 2.

Do you know how many times I have washed my thumb drive. I always for it is in my pocket when I was clothes. Normally they still work after, as long as you let them completely dry out before putting it in your machine. To be waterproof would be quite nice.

Lately they have thrown more one-day Woot-Offs into the mix. I wouldn't be surprised if this were only one day.

Already sent an email to service letting them know. Hope this is not a sign of what is to come during the Box of Cobwebs when it shows up, if so this will get real interesting.

UPDATE: Were you talking about the the sale of this item, or the posting speed. Both are taking forever. I just assumed you were taking about the posting speed since you post showed up twice.

Bought one a couple weeks ago on woot. It is definitely the slowest USB drive I have ever owned. Capacity is good, just beware that you're probably not going to be happy if you intend to continually access the files on it. For evening backups, it seems to be fine and for individual access of smaller files, its good. My 2 cents.

That is so True! I bought 3 of the "Kingston 256 GB" flash drives from a Chinese company on eBay last year for a song. I got them. I hurriedly opened one up and plugged it into my computer... My computer told me I now had an external 256 GB drive! For a test, I copied about 20 GBs of stuff to it. Good thing I 'copied' instead of 'moved!' When I removed the drive from the computer and then plugged it back in, there was NOTHING on the drive. Zilch, nada, nil, zero.

I opened up the drive and saw that there were absolutely no memory modules inside the drive at all! Total scam! But it totally fooled my PC. (I did get most of my money back from eBay's guarantee thing, however.)

Woot very slow today with lots of errors. Does not bode well for when the Bundle 'O Carrots appears later. Of course at this rate, the memory stick will be here all day and preempt the lunchtime t-shirts.

Just like this Woot-off item! It's obvious that almost nobody wants these, or Woot is trying to hock a million of them all at once.

FWIW all USB flash drives are going to be slow access for large files/capacities. It's the nature of flash memory compared to anything with a spinning hard drive.

But that still doesn't explain why this thing is taking so long to sell. UNLESS Woot has their servers running off of these flash drives during the Woot-off........ hmmm....

Every single flash drive I've had I've accidentally washed in the washing machine, and they've all been just fine afterwards. They were never advertised as "waterproof".

Sell the unneeded junk to break even. I got the SL version box of Baby Onesies Cotainer with a breast pump, all kiddie stuff, I sold the manual breast pump to a woman that wanted one to milk horses for $8.

Sell and break even and you will be back square again.
