you just have to know how to use it.

in the right hands this thing could be lethal to leaf like intruders.

Just kidding. It's a reerence to the South Park episode, "The Last of the Meheecans." A character named Butters pretends to be Mexican, calling himself Mantequilla (which is Spanish for butter). In one scene, he operates a leaf blower as he sings

As a South Park Fanatic I can't believe I missed that episode and therefor the reference. Thanks for the clarification and I'll be searching my southpark collection as I have every episode of every season on an external hard drive to view on my TV via a WD TV Media player.

[quote postid="4675557" user="mrln"]You have one of those yard fan units?

The only 2-stroke I disliked were those 1-stage snowblowers, but I don't think anyone makes them anymore with the closing of the Tecumsah factory.

Toro is still making the snowblowers, but with a 4-stroke OHV engine. I have the older 2 stroke; gutsy little thing but I'm glad for the electric start.

I bought a Hitachi string trimmer from Amazon based on good reviews and 7 year warranty. I'm very happy with it. With 1.5+ acres to maintain I'm in for one of these, too. I already printed off the rebate form so it would be un-green of me not to use it. There is no caveat against WOOT in the fine print.

By the way guys, if you're in the market for a leaf blower and you have a medium-sized or larger yard, you should look into getting a backpack blower. It definitely eases strain on your right arm. But no matter if it's a backpack or hand held gas powered blower, you're going to need some ear protection.

No, gas powered blowers are good for the enviroment. They create wind and can move windmills, and then you can get a loan from Obama to buy and operate it.

I purchased one of these when it was listed on Amazon a few weeks ago. So far it has been great. We got a bunch of rain over the past two days and this blower is moving the piles of wet leaves with no problems. Was also good for small brush/sticks when I cleared alongside my driveway last weekend.

Honestly, this is better than any electric I've ever used and so far has even surpassed the backpack blower that I had borrowed from a friend.

This is actually a re-branded Tanaka, looks to be the same as their model TRB24EAP.

But who knows, the Tanaka could be made by another unheard of Chinese company-you know when the fine print on the packaging states "This (insert well-known name brand) product is being used under license by (insert unheard-of company/manufacturer). So many brands today are becoming just marketing assets.

These are a great interior cleaner for the car too! I have a backpack gas blower I use for reverse vacuuming the car. I open doors on both sides of the car and let her rip! Clean in no time at all and it gets under the seats.

The premix is sure nice, but it is sold in 1qt bottles that are about somewhere around $5 to $7 a bottle... A gallon of premium is $3.73 and a bottle of 2-cycle oil (with just the right amount to mix with one gallon of gas for a 40:1 or 50:1 ratio, depending on the engine) is $3. So, $7 for a gallon of fuel/oil mix vs $6 for a quart of premixed fuel... Great idea, but it's damn expensive in comparison.

Just a comment here. Many electric blowers are more powerful than a 24cc blower. I have have both and my Toro electric blows over 200mph vs the 150mph my Weedeater featherlight gas blower can manage. Bigger gas blowers are of course more powerful.

I would strongly discourage anyone from buying one of these.

If you notice the intake, it will rub against your pants. If you're wearing cargo shorts or workout shorts, it sucks the material against the grill, restricting airflow and is a PITA. It doesn't pull your shorts into the fan but if you're right handed and use this POS or any variation of it....Ryobi, etc., then it will annoy the h.e.l.l. out of you.

Also, any of these with a horizontally mounted engine have a gyroscopic effect and pointing the blower nozzle left and right is not as easy as one made that has a vertical shaft.

Craftsman makes a vertical shaft one that is so much better than these.

I've had both and trust me, I'd go with the Craftsman brand any day of the week and twice on Sunday over this type.

Save your cash for another type, right-handed people!

They work OK on light, fluffy snow, but not if it is more than a few inches and (obviously) not on the wet slushy stuff. But beyond that, 2-strokes are notoriously difficult to start in cold weather.

(I suppose you could start it inside...)
