haha, ok so I got my blower on Tue. Since I get home when it is dark I had to put off trying it out until Sat. The weather this moring said: Sat - rain changing to snow. Total possible accumulation 4-8 inches.
Doh!

-- forcasting close to 12 inches now. So much for blowing leaves this year.

Got mine, but where is the serial number, found several numbers, but there's no s/n or such like to tell you which one is the serial number. Need it for rebate. No sweat found it.

Thx Tech

Just moving this to the new page.

Ok folks, here we go. It's my Rebate 101 Primer. Read carefully.

1) You will not get a rebate form in the box. You must print it yourself from the link provided on the sales blog or click here.

2) You will not get a receipt in the box. To print a receipt, go to My Account and click on this product in your purchased list. You'll see a link to print your receipt.

3) Read everything twice, fill everything out, read it again, check everything, make copies of it all, THEN and only then, seal the envelope. Almost all rebates have very exacting instructions and it's easy to forget something.

4) Wait. Rebates take a very long time to process. They are done by companies (not the manufacturer) and this isn't the only rebate campaign they're working on.

Just tried mine out today. It cranked right up and ran strong throughout my use of it. It is nice and light too. Blowing power was a bit less than what I had hoped for but still feel that it was an excellent deal. Well worth it.

!!! BE CAREFULL !!!
After about 1hr use I noticed a strange rattling noise at idle. The nut holding the blower impeller had loosened. The hole in the plastic impeller had become enlarged from flopping around. I tightened the nut quite firm and it seems fine now???

Bought one - can't get it to start no matter what I do. Tried pre-mixed gas. Tried fresh gas with new mixed oil in it. Tried with lever up, lever down. Tried it pushing the button 4 times, 10 times. Popped and redid the sparkplug. Checked that the "off" button wasn't engaged. Tried pulling the damned thing for 3 days until my arm almost fell off, and it won't start.

How do I return this dog?

I'm sorry you are having problems.

There was some discussion about starting problems earlier in the thread. You may want to look them over before completely giving up.

This has a 7-year warranty with Hitachi so please give them a call for assistance.

Fuel is probably not getting to the engine. When you push the button 10 times, does it fill up with gas? If not, chances are there is a black hose that is not connected.

The link works fine for me. It's a PDF.

The link is also on the sale's blog.

Aha! You were right - there's actually 4 hoses in the system, not just the two that are apparently visible. 3 black ones and the one clear one. You can't really see the other two black ones until you take apart the air filter with the two back screws.

Thanks, it runs now.

Dear Woot!,

It would be nice if you added a "Print Receipt" option on the page that shows my receipt. I find it is confusing when you say "You'll see a link to print your receipt" only to find there is none, at lest not literally speaking. There is a link and it takes me to my receipt but it does not print.
I know in this tech savvy world we live in that I should know to print, at least with Internet Explore, I go to File and print, (that is if I have the menu bar turned on), but how life would be easier if you could just add an actual print receipt option on my receipt page. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Red_Six

Out of the box the one we got didn't work. Hitachi will only "service" it they will not offer a replacement, which means I have to bring it to a service center. If anyone thinks Woot will help if your item is broken when you get it, read their FAQ's!

Everyone seems to have the same problem with this unit. What a POS if I have to fix it out of the box. Now that I have read Woot's FAQ's about their customer service practices don't think I'll be ordering from them anytime soon.

I'm sorry you are having problems. From earlier discussions in the thread, it seems to be an easy fix. Possibly something that comes loose in shipment. Not saying that's right, but others have had good luck with this fix.

Products like this shouldn't be bought by people who can't read.

After a two uses it wouldn't start for me. I had to reattach the smaller fuel line to the primer bulb. Otherwise it's been working fine. No sight of the rebate yet.

No sign of the rebate here either. Sent it in just a few days after receipt of the blower.

I did get an email confirming that the paperwork was received but the status of the rebate has been the same ever since.

Any one else having a problem getting the rebate honored?? I did it by the book and according to the website they said I hadn't supplied a dealer name. The WOOT receipt was included. Re-sumitted the claim from copies of the original and it looks like it has been denied again?? What gives WOOT??? This is getting to be a PITA for $30 bucks, but not a very good WOOT without it.

Mine is still "being processed." Got notice on 11/17 that it was received (I had sent it right after I got the blower), and still nothing.

Exactly one month since getting the confirmation email from tanaka that they received my submission and that it's being processed. So I probably sent it 5 or so weeks ago.
Would be nice to get an ETA on the rebate since tracking the rebate doesn't help much if the status is processing for a month.

I have been using my blower regularly since receiving it. Blows leaves, blows grass, blows rocks, blows out the garage, blows out the shop. This thing really blows, and no problems whatsoever.
I received rebate acknowledgement on Nov 5 via email and nothing since. But, I seem to recall there was an 8-week processing time for the rebate so I won't get too excited about it until next year.

Ah yes, here is the quote from the rebate form: PLEASE NOTE: PREPAID CARDS WILL BE MAILED TO QUALIFYING CUSTOMERS WITHIN 8 - 10 WEEKS FROM THE POSTMARK DATE ON YOUR QUALIFIED REQUEST

I just today received an email saying my claim has been approved and that my award should be received by mail within 15 days.

My original email stating they had received my claim came in on November 8th. So they're just barely ahead of their 8-10 week window mentioned before.

Mailed on: Nov 5
Got e-mail stating they got it: Nov 17
Got e-mail saying approved: Dec 4

For those of you waiting, it does take awhile.

Mine worked fine the first time. Refused to prime the second time out. I took it to a local repair facility and they fixed it in 5 minutes at no charge. It was the third one they had seen from the Woot sale. All had the same problem and were quick fixes. Just wanted to pass it along.

For anyone with starting problems:

Followed these instructions from an amazon review to fix mine without the hassle of taking it to a shop! Very easy and stupid problem to fix.

" Like others, I had a black fuel line that had disconnected itself. Had to unsnap the black plastic housing that surrounds the carburetor and remove two long screws to disconnect the carburetor from the rest of the unit. There's a black fuel line that goes from just next to the back of the primer bulb to the carburetor. It was disconnected at the primer bulb side. There's a spring inside the line which was showing at the end of the fuel line. Pushed that spring back into the line and reconnected the fuel line. It immediately popped off again. Removed the fuel line from both ends, turned it around and reconnected both ends, and it stayed connected (for now, anyway). Performed normal starting procedure and it started right up."

One of our most satisfying home improvement purchases ever, Woot or otherwise. We got our rebate, and we have used this powerful blower totally without issue. We still have our old electric blower and a long exension cord. I never use anymore. Why in the world would I?
