Stickers at the bottom of each piece.

Not knocking Vietnam (or China), but I have seen it enough times that factories in different countries produce the same product in different qualities, be it soap, suitcases, or stainless steel.

Lock & Lock is awesome stuff that I only discovered after moving to China. I use a big one as a humidor, a somewhat smaller one for keeping tea fresh, and I've always got at least one full of homemade salsa. They're crazy expensive here, though, I would definitely be in for 3 sets if woot! shipped overseas...

Are they heavy? I just would like to give this to my mom .... so it would be great if you could let me know the approx weight for the whole package.

I respect them greatly for that, especially when they place boldface warnings like "You only get one (1) of these!" on item pictures.

But 28 pieces? Come on. This is 14 containers. If you listed today's kids.woot deal as being 4 pieces (2 bottles), that would be equally deceptive, only more apparently so. Might as well list that emergency cot from yesterday as being a 90-piece kit. Rivets and screws are pieces, right? Also, the box and instructions are each pieces. The Texas Air bags used in packing are pieces too.

Yes, anyone who reads the description or comments will figure it out and not be deceived. However, my guess is that the vast majority of Woot customers will think this is 28 containers, because we're pretty impulsive buyers and that big "I want one" button calls to us.

Accidental or not, this practice works really well in marketing. That's why tool sets tend to come with 20 useless, tiny hex keys and a 20-head modular screwdriver. It's so they can say on the box that it's a 50 piece kit when really there are 22 tools or less.

Cookware sets are worse, taking what any sane person would call a 4-unit set of 4 pans and throwing them together with the lids, then tossing in a handful of nylon tools and now you've got a 24-piece set.

thanks Ralph Nader

We had a trial set about a year ago ordered from QVC. They're all gone. A victim of the sealing "ears" snapping off.

Any other repeat buyers having that problem.

No,just a ? Can these be used to store loose flour, powders airtight?

quality posts: 0 Private Messages VettesGo

I have oodles of this stuff and love it. I see some posts that say one can microzap them. Uhhh, NOT unless you open the lids first and then only to heat, not to cook! If you buy the set, you will see that info included.

The best thing about the Lock & Locks is that they are air-tight, thus making them great to store flour, pastas, etc. Some of the Lock & Locks are HUGE. The 9.5 quart containers will fit a case of pasta into it.

The second-best thing about them is that they never have retained odors from the food stored in them---not even cut garlic!

They do break however. Since I can freeze them with no worries of freezer burn, I store leftovers in them and freeze my stale stuff. :-! If you drop a frozen one, it will crack (up). They still will replace it free. Just email them at csr@heritagemint.com. They ship it out for free to you too. Great company and great product.

The one downside I see about them is that the bottoms do not stack well and the lids don't lay flat. They are a major space-hog if they aren't in use.

Of all the types of latch-ware, these are the best, hands-down. They do make versions with glass bottoms, though I haven't used them at all. Someone asked if these were those, and no, these are all plastic.

I bought 3 sets of these several months ago when they were available on woot. The price (same as today) was much lower than the same sets at Sam's Club or Costco, so I bought them. My wife and I found them to be FANTASTIC! I later bought more of them when they became available on Sell out Woot.

What I like about them is that they will not leak and make a mess in the refridgerator as many other brands do. I use them for storing cleaned fish in the freezer from my summer fishing trips and for storing tomatoe sauce which I make from our small backyard garden.

It does not seem to be a problem to go from freezer to microwave, just as long as you take the cover off first. In my opinion, you will not find a better food storage package and you will certainly not find it at a better price than here on Woot.

We have Lock n lock sets in use all over the house... Keeps misc. screws from getting spilled in the shop, keeps push pins from getting loose in the office, and it is leak proof in the kitchen. But, the goto plasticware for quick leftover storage in my house comes in two sizes... quart and pint... and every time we order soup with our Chinese takeout, our set of plasticware increases! ;-)

Read the description. Safe for the microwave and extreme temps. -4 to 210F. And what's wrong for using them for other storage? They are airtight, stackable. I keep glues, epoxies and other things in air tight containers so they don't dry out as fast, spill or get punctured. Also they make great Geocaching containers. And $20 for 14 lock & locks is a really good price.

Thank you. It's nice to know there is someone out there with a little common sense. Some NGO decides to make a bogus claim about BPA and it's negative effects and people latch onto it like like we are all going to die if we come into contact with it. Nobody stops to think "Gee, I've been using products containing BPA all my life and I'm just fine." Have no fear folks, it won't be long before someone out there makes another claim that the new polymers used to replace BPA is even more harmful to your health. I recommend chemical degrees for everyone before making assumptions behind the chemistry of their products!

Safety assessments of bisphenol A (BPA) conclude that the potential human exposure to BPA from polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins is more than 400 times lower than the safe level of BPA set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The use of polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins for food contact applications has been and continues to be recognized as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the European Commission's Scientific Committee on Food, the United Kingdom Food Standards Agency, and other regulatory agencies worldwide.

Am I exposed to BPA from polycarbonate plastics?

Researchers from government agencies, academia, and industry worldwide have studied the potential for bisphenol A (BPA) to migrate from polycarbonate products into foods and beverages. These studies consistently show that the potential migration of BPA into food is extremely low, generally less than 5 parts per billion under conditions typical for uses of polycarbonate products. At this level, a consumer would have to ingest more than 1,300 pounds of food and beverages in contact with polycarbonate every day for an entire lifetime to exceed the safe level of BPA set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Consequently, human exposure to BPA from polycarbonate plastics is minimal and poses no known health risk.

a former roommate left one straggler of these things at our house, and its by far the best container we have to keep food in, when I have leftovers I'll fight someone for that thing. For that reason, in for 1. Thing keeps a great seal so even if you leave chili in it for weeks its easy to clean the smell and stain out of

only problem will be the storage, I might need to throw away all my pots and pans...
