Yes don't buy those at the dollar store. They will only leave you frustrated. Lids won't snap on and if you are lucky enough to get them on they come off easily. These are a great value and will last forever. I received a couple for Christmas a few years back and use them daily and wouldn't be without them. Friends and family actually try to steal them. I'm in for three so I can give them to the people to keep them from trying to walk off with mine.

+1. In for three... one for me, two for Christmas gifts.

Throw your old Cool Whip containers out! I bought the 18-piece last month for $9.99. This is a better deal. The lids fit tightly and are easy to store. Not only do they somewhat nest, but being square you can organize them better in your cupboard. Bonus: tomato sauces don't stain these as easily as other products.

pimguin wrote:Are they heavy? I just would like to give this to my mom .... so it would be great if you could let me know the approx weight for the whole package.

Very light weight. Amazon's shipping weight is 5 lbs, but I think that's high.

mmtgr wrote:No,just a ? Can these be used to store loose flour, powders airtight?

Yes, and that's what I bought my last set for. Now I'm buying more because even though I got three sets last time they're all in use! I buy a lot of bulk foods from the natural foods store and this way my pantry's not full of plastic bags with twist ties.

Pearljr wrote:I have a powerful microwave and NO they do no work well in the Microwave the plastic is not smooth in areas after I have microwaved even a little - but are so worth it for there no leaking property's I through them in a tote bag I bring to work with no worries of spills.

Have you tried microwaving at partial power?

Also, re: the dishwasher, mine have done great. I either run them on the top rack, or the bottom rack *with heated dry turned off*.

For those complaining about 14 v. 28, get over it. Annoying though it may be, it's standard in the food storage biz to advertise the # of lids and containers separately. Think if one manufacturer tried to change that now: If they advertised a 14 piece set people would think it was actually only 7 containers with lids.

My husband convinced our 8yo that these are called "lick and locks" so that's what they'll forever be known as in our house.

This are good for holding batteries, nuts, bolts, transistors, diodes, thumb drives, duct tape, and spare fingers for those days when you just can't keep it all together.

My grandpa used to store spare vacuum tubes in 'em until he upgraded. We'll miss him.

In for one - couldn't resist. When those cheap "disposable" and probably not BPA free containers at the grocery store are $3 for a pack of 4 this is a no brainer! Time to clean out the "tupperware" cabinet!

I purchased 3 sets last time and they are awesome! I have used them to store bread in the freezer as we don't eat very much and a loaf would go bad. We grind our own coffee and these work awesome for storage.

I know take opened serial out of the bag/box and store in these containers. Also, packs of sugar/sweetener will not get wet or damp inside these. Tons of uses for these.

I have tossed all of my old junk storage containers for these. I just ordered 3 more sets and will gift them for the upcoming holidays.

I was wondering if these things just lock. I did a little research and found that not only do they LOCK, they also LOCK! That's double the lockage for one low price!

bnbsouthworth wrote:I have tried making giant ice cubes and have had them crack on me, even though I left plenty of expansion room.

Other than that, I have had these containers for years and love them in general. I have had a few of the clips snap off on me, which renders the lids basically useless. But I don't expect them to last forever. I have had other similar style containers that leak. These do NOT leak.

I would never try to seal a container and then try to make a giant ice cube. Water expands when it goes into a solid state. Even if you leave room for the expansion, you're dealing with an air tight system. I have many of these Loc-n-Loc containers. They are the best.

In for 3. After transporting soup to work for lunch in either an old Skippy peanut butter jar or gelato jar this week, I'd say my household is in desperate need of good food storage ware.

The rave reviews from my fellow Wooters definitely helped me to go forth with the purchase. Not to mention that a set of 3 is only $5 and some change more expensive than a set of 1 on Amazon.

In the past I have used a similar product--not a cheap knock-off but another brand--and I have to say I was not happy with the removable silicon seal. In my experience it tended to get stinky. I used the containers often to bring oatmeal to work and what I found was that the seal--even if I removed it and washed it--got "yeasty" over time, with a distinct smell.

I chucked the 3 or 4 I had and am pretty much put off these type of seals. These could be different, but I personally won't pop on it.

They sell out quickly because geocachers snap them up. They are great geocache containers.

As soon as they come on Woot nearly every geocache forum and Facebook page has a link to them.
