Here we go again, one of several past woots, nearly 200 comments last time--August 14:

http://www.woot.com/Forums/ViewPost.aspx?PostID=4588656

Edit: By the way, $10 cheaper this time at $59.99.

Oh, and if you want the equivalent Lincoln-Douglas debate on this, look at sdc100 and theguruguys comments (unless they want to rehash them again).

Is that subtle nod to "They Live" on the screen of the internet viewer with the 'lies' on the t.v. screen?

It's ok Woot... I forgive you!

A web browser was finally added, but it is slow, just as you'd expect. They also released 2 new dashes, one has a battery and comes in 3 colors and the other one costs less than this one did at release but omits the microphone, which there isn't actually a way to use at all on this one... the site mysteriously says "the microphone is intended for future use." As for the new dashes, I don't think that they actually have faster processors or anything.

See the cord in the picture there? This does not work on battery charge, must be hooked into a power adapter to function. A huge drawback IMO.

I have one from a while back and I have yet to browse the web with it. What do I need to download to get this working?

I like my dash a lot. If you connect it to a good stereo or premium computer speakers it makes for a great way to listen to Pandora.

in for one. could use a new bedside alarm.

Tested review video of the Chumby v. Dash

As they say, they are "More than Just Alarm Clocks"

Both use the same software. Chumby is soft and friendly... Dash is hard and utilitarian.

As the tablet market moves forward, I anticipate winding up with enough "task devices" that I don't need to buy one that's already obsolete.

Absolutely fantastic little device. Nice alarm clock, good distracting slide show device, and now has a full web browser that's not lightning-fast, but decent. If you like out-of-area (or foreign) radio stations, it streams them off the net very well. It's a cheap half-assed tablet, and i love both of mine dearly.
Buy one for someone who doesn't control their garage lights through their MacBook Air, and they'll love it, too.

It should have just asked you to update it and the update contains the browser.

It may have done this without me realizing it, I go periods of time without interacting much with it more than the radio and alarm.

I was able to charge my ipod touch with it (but couldn't play the music on it, unsurprisingly)

I currently use my 17" MacBook Pro to listen to talk radio on iTunes or stand up comedy on iTunes or through NetFlix when falling asleep... this may be a better thing for me to use... even without premium speakers.

Hmmmm...

love mine from last go 'round. needed a dim at night alarm clock with cool features. get if you want a clock, not a tablet/ web browser. usb port charges my phone at night.

kinda quirky to set up and use. but worth the money. nice big snooze bar.

I really was hoping for something like this to have a video input, even composite RCA. Even corded I would be all over it.

Yes, a web browser was added with the last firmware update, and it seems fine. Certainly no worse than other competing products. I find it works well. Much prefer it to having to email a link to an article to finish reading. Now, if the app is done up right you can click 'more' and continue right on reading

I use mine daily as an internet radio, and occasionally as a netflix client. It's in my kitchen, hooked up to my kitchen stereo.

yes i have a kitchen stereo.

I never did find a reliable way to watch video on a usb stick. I find that function to be incredibly flaky at best.

I don't regret the purchase but that's all i use it for. Internet radio and netflix when I'm in the kitchen.

Picked up a refurb for $30 from Sony a while back.
Wasn't impressed at first. Gave it a second chance and now I love it.

Probably my favorite deal made this year.

Is there a trick to getting Pandora to work on my dash?

I had the same issue. Just reapply this update

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?upd_id=6535&mdl=HIDC10

and it will notify you of the latest update a day or two later, install then you'll get the browser!! Enjoy...

I bought this the last time it was offered, on a whim. And I'm really surprised how much I like it. The apps are OK, the sound (Pandora) and video (Amazon Prime) are very good, and the Web browser is useless.

Still, I really enjoy having this oddball appliance in my bedroom. Finally, an alarm clock that can replace my old Timex SpeakEasy, after failing with a dozen others.

At this price, highly recommended.

No trick just click the media botton after hitting the snooze bar and select pandora. You will be prompted to go to the Sony Essentials site and login to your Pandora account then you'll be able to play it on the dash.

Yeah! Just in time for the new models B7 and B70 to come out. The B70 has a battery too, if you're hung up on that (some people always are).

The browser is pretty limited, SSL support isn't full (don't check important websites on it, like your bank account), no Adobe Flash support, and can't even hold onto cookies beyond the current session. Good for checking simple sites, though. I use it occasionally to get a more detailed weather for my area, or watch an animated image weather map to see storm activity.

If there's an app for what you want to check, it's usually better to use that instead of the browser.

Still, a nice network-centric, network-dependent alarm clock.

Does this use android apps? Does it have Kindle or B&N ereader apps available? I would like a plug in ereader. Would this work as one? Am I expecting to much here?

You can use it to check Woot before you go to sleep. Could be nice to keep by the bed during a Woot Off, possibly.
