I got one of these about a year ago, because my sister had one that she loved. Unfortunately, the USB dongle burnt up, literally, the plastic melted, within 2 weeks. They sent me a new one and that one only lasted 3 days, same issue except the plastic did not melt this time, it just got very hot. They sent me another, which I used on a different computer entirely. That one lasted a week and stopped working, same problem. The QC on these at the factory must be terrible. I won't be buying another MS mouse again. I got a Logitech one instead and have had no problems at all with it, so I am fairly certain it wasn't my computers causing the issues.

No. You should know that, you have enough purchases.

I'm sure lots of peeps have extra accounts and created more of them for this deal. You'll see them reselling on ebay soon. :o(

I'm not sure if it's this exact model ... but I bought one of these for my wife when they were on sale at Staples, and within six months, the transceiver was fried. It got so hot my wife actually burned herself pulling it out of her laptop. (Fortunately the laptop seems to be fine.)
Logitech for me from now on.

I have one of these, and it was working fine for about 6 months, when one day, my computer froze. I didn't think anything about it, so I rebooted it, and the mouse wasn't working anymore. I tried the touchpad, and that was working fine, so I took the nano usb piece out to try another port. When I did, I almost singed my hand - the nano usb was nuclear-level hot. I tried it in the different ports of my computer, but it didn't work - I guess the adapter was cooked (literally).

Fortunately I called MS support, and they just had me read off the product ID number on the bottom of my mouse and I had a brand new one in the mail within days. I looked up this issue on the internet and apparently it's a fairly common problem, so beware guys!

In case they sell these again at a later time, what is the DPI and polling rate on these things? Couldn't find that info anywhere

In for one. (well my dad got it, I'm in school, but whatever.) Only got red, wanted blue. Lol. Anyway, my dad's company gave him a black one of these when they gave him his new computer. It's light, compact, and has very good battery life. I've gone through multiple wireless mice, and I've been wanting one of these for a long time (they retail at $35-40). My dad hasn't had any overheating problems with his, so I'm not sure how 'common' this problem is.

Anyway, a great deal, and the blurb today was great! I lol'd.

Well I guess I got screwed. Ordered about 30 minutes before the sellout with the same problems everyone else had. Five hours later no confirmation, does not show up in my account, and it appears several folks ordered after I did and got theirs.

ROTFLMAO!

Just because your CC worked for your "numerous!", purchases doesn't mean the CC expiration date or CID code you entered wasn't wrong.

BTW. Speak to the mouse until you actually can claim "numerous" for real.

I use one with my laptop and another with my netbook. They're the same model as this. I paid $29.95 in Staples. My husband bought the same for his laptop, again same MS model. He loves his but paid $10 more then I did. These are a mere $5, why belittle the great deal Woot offered just because you hate yours?

What is so wrong with yours that you -HATE- it? Do you prefer the touch pad rather then a mouse? If not that, what is wrong with the mouse?

Looks like I'm SOL.

Never got an email, no record in my account.
Last I saw was the "we reserved" screen.

Ah well, +$20 I guess.

Sad I missed this retro Woot! Seeing a cheap mouse really brought me back to those days when Woot! offered the best prices for basic computer equipment. It was a different time. I had a different username, and stupid subsidiary woots! never cluttered that simple webpage.

This is absolutely the worst mouse on the market. The rubber that moves the scroll wheel comes loose and saggs off the wheel in less than a year of use, making it impossible to scroll. Buyer beware.

Well thppppt then. Love mine. However my desktop mouse is a Razer, and the Arc Touch does kind of have the same fit as a Razer. So if you're not used to that style of mouse, I can see how it would be uncomfortable.

To naysayers regarding Microsoft peripherals:

I discovered recently (to my pleasant surprise) that most Microsoft peripherals have multi-year warranties. So even if these do have a high failure rate if you have 3 of them you always have one in reserve while you wait for your warranty replacement.

In fact--I just checked. I downloaded their warranty sheet and under the lists of warranty periods it doesn't list the 4000 model--so that means it defaults to 3 years.

"For all other Microsoft mouse devices: Three (3) years"

http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/B/5/3B54A015-3714-4BFF-8BF0-003BA0B15F5C/X17-31699-02_EN_XC_FR_EL_IW_IT_PT_ES.pdf

I have taken advantage of Microsoft peripheral warranty service before and they did honor it. I only had to pay shipping (to ship the broken one back) to get a whole new Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 shipped to me. One key failed after 6 months of heavy use. $6.00 later and 10 days I had a brand new keyboard.

Nice Mice

The Intellipoint disk was missing from one of the three packages but that is no problem.

The USB Transceiver isn't even warm.
