You people do realize that you 'flash' the light for a 'momentary on'/target ID then let it go, right? Its not for room illumination.

That is one of the ways I pwned people on Crysis. they all used lasers for their guns and you could see them coming a mile away.

Appreciate the reference, but I have no clue about video games. I'm just a girl with guns.

Actually, no. Even though it doesn't sound logical, acquiring a target that is shining a bright light at you is more complicated than shooting someone under bright natural light, for example.

If you're in a home defense situation, you should be moderately accustomed to the darkness, and a bright light will give away your poistion, ruin your night vision, and may not work when needed. Fiddling with a weapon-mounted flashlight is not what one's focus should be in that situation.

If Woot throw up some Trijicons, I'm all over those bad boys!

If, on the other hand, you like nifty flashlights, this is a baller light for the price.

FINALLY, another voice of reason. Now, if w00t would just sell Dragonskins!

Most cops carry a Glock, so I'm guessing he carries a Glock 22 or 23? Someone mentioned that it didn't fit their Glock.

I have a Surefire, but it doesn't attach to anything. I would love to attach it to my Sig.

He probably has to stick with what they issue him. It will fit a handgun that has an accessory rail.

I beg to differ. Fits on my Glock 22 like the factory shipped it. Have one on an XD .40 and I had to sand the little aluminum locking bar down a bit to get it to fit into the slot in the rail, but after that it fits like a glove. I'm a lefty and I appreciate the ambidextrous momentary switches. Very compact and great for a home defense weapon (mine are in lockboxes so no need to fit in a holster).Flashlight is much more useful (dare I say illuminating?) than a laser. I'd much rather have a clear picture of what I'm aiming at if it came down to that.

S & W = Smith and Wesson

98% sure it will, because his gun and this gun light are both made by Smith and Wesson and 3 years isn't that old as far as guns go.

You could buy it for him, but it would have to be department approved most likely, so the purchase could be a dud.

Probably not the most useful purchase for a sworn officer, honestly. And if you're not sure if it will fit, probably best not to buy it if you don't mind the chance that his service pistol is not fitted with a rail.

Bull biscuits. Mine fits just dandy on both a Glock 17 and a Glock 19.

Try the pin a different direction and make sure the 'notch' in the rail is line up properly.

I really like my 1st Woot purchased one.

I think the best lights are so darned bright that they ruin your opponent's night vision and are blindingly bright. If this isn't so bright, you position will be nicely pinpointed. Still, you can't shoot what you can't see.

When I am home alone in in the dark, a bright light in the eyes of the person who broke into my home may give me just the advantage I need to live. That would be my reason for using it.

That got me thinking...I don't think I've ever had a random that didn't have some sort of flashlight. I still don't advocate their use by the average gunowner (we should know the layout of our own properties), but I suppose if your were in some sort of law enforcement or espioonage situation, it could be helpful, if only for a moment.

I ran 4 mags with it on and on the third mag. it started rocking back and forth. ALso, you should not use a weapon light for home defense. You should know your house well enough to not need flash lights. Don't forget to crawl around corners and don't shoot your dog.

DBeck

The biggest problem with buying this for your police officer husband wouldn't be the department approval, but rather the fact that he would need a new holster for his weapon because the light would have to be attached at all times (you cant just put it on when you are in the dark and need to draw your weapon).

Holsters are rather expensive.

I respectfully disagree. I know the layout of my house and my acreage, and I don't need a light to give away my position. I do, however, think that if you're in a strange place, and licensed to carry, it could be helpful, although I wouldn't LEAVE it on like they do on T.V.
