I bought one last time.

and gave a detailed response why I decided to buy it. 32GB - SD - built in GPS etc...

It is probably one of the only tech decisions I regret....

And the reason is simple - "IT's the APPs Stupid"

For the next X months/years the IPAD will have more and better apps - FACT.

I got it at $399 - $329 is amazing
Don't worry about refirb mine was brand spanking new (probably returned from a store that did not sell)

There is lots great - but I find myself frustrated so often - that Android Tablets get the sloppy seconds - in terms of app.

My 2 cents -

[also - silly things like cases and add-ons on ebay it is like 100-1 in favor of Ipad ..

Ipads wont because Steve thinks users are too stupid to understand it charges slower when you give it a quarter of the power, so to make it "just work" it doesnt

Your slam on the iPad isn't true. iPad will charge just fine from, for example, an iPhone charger, or from the USB connection on my computer, albeit more slowly. The iPad will say "Not charging" at the top of the display, but it actually is charging. Now why they didn't just say "charging slowly" or something, I don't know. But it does just work.

HP hasn't decided what they're going to do with webOS. They could even end up keeping it.

http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/8/2548121/hp-no-decision-webos

HP CEO Meg Whitman just told a room full of Palm and HP employees that the company doesn't yet know what to do with webOS. "It's really important to me to make the right decision, not the fast decision," she told those gathered with her on the HP campus, adding that a decision would come in the next three to four weeks. This comes as a bit of a surprise, as reports recently swirled that the computer-maker has been in discussions to sell off the troubled mobile platform to the highest bidder. "If HP decides [to keep webOS], we're going to do it in a very significant way over a multi-year period," she said, adding that "it's a very expensive proposition, but HP can make that bet."

Thats a good price for that cover, but it has shortcomings with being able to access all the ports with it closed.

I looked for a while and came across the ZooGue for Xoom and its great. Not as cheap as the one listed above, but all ports are accessable and it is very positionable. The strap even helps to hold it in portrait mode. Highly recommended.

Glad you posted. I bought one weeks ago on Woot for $20 more with a tone of glowing posts recommending it, haven't used it yet, then Amazon put it up for less, now Woot, and now the reviews are more negative for some reason.

I've had one since May, and for what it is, I love it. Transformer Prime will be better, but this tablet's not going to be "obsolete" for a while. Most Android apps are written to run on last year's device; if and when Android tablet adoption rates pick up to the point that people start developing lots of apps for them, they'll still be writing to run on the first crop of Honeycomb devices.

But it's certainly a legitimate criticism that Android is an also-ran when it comes to the app market, especially for tablets. As more and more game makers start developing in Unity, hopefully we'll see more games bleeding over to Android, but right now the Xoom is mostly useful to me because it has a browser and media player.

Isn't this just an over sized Droid? These tablets are just a fad.

Netbooks will always be better hah hahahahahhaah...

Oh man, it's hard to not laugh at how anti-tablet people were just last year.

Now they can't wait for the next shiny Android table, right on schedule.

About Flash:

Yes, Flash mobile is halting production. However, for all intents and purposes, it was fairly useless on mobile platform. This does not mean that flash is gone on mobile at all though. Adobe Air is used all over the place, and is a form of packaging flash. This is going to continue development.

There really is little to be lost from losing development of the Flash player. Most of the time all I got out of it was banner ads. Adobe Air however is all over the place, and anyone developing flash for mobile is most likely already using Air.

I've been carrying this one all over Afghanistan, and it is great. Very rugged, been dropped about a half-dozen times between me and my 3 year old and no damage. Plays videos at a higher compression rate than the IPAD, plus I don't need ITUNES to load my music. SD allows me to store doc. Use the video camera and its very good. Camera is decent. Wife has IPAD2 and she loves it. Kids will play with which ever is availble, but they do prefer IPAD.

DaHarder wrote:The Kindle Fire is more of an eReader with media consumption features, and will be completely locked into Amazon services ONLY. read: Not the official Android App Store.

The Xoom, and all other true Android tablets have no such restrictions, in addition to having considerably more storage capacity (the Xoom's is expandable to 64gb vs the Fire's non-exspandable 8 gb) and several other features that the Fire can/will never have/support e.g cameras, video conferencing et al.

Kindle Fire will be a Amazon Based E-reader out of the box, but once rooted will prove to be a great device. The Amazon market may prove to have good APPS, we shall see.

What is one off the reasons (other than price) that people stay away from the IPAD? Flash. Adobe will release Adobe Flash 11 and then cease Flash and work on Adobe AIR which will be the new flash. Apple has already agreed to allow Adobe AIR in its APP Store, so the IPAD will finally be workable.

I have friends who have iPads that now wish they had this. It supports flash and supports a 32 GB micro SD card. You still have to attach it to the computer to install onto the SD card, but I have 64 GB total for a really low price. I can use most of the apps at the amazon store and droid maket, so I have a kindle reader and can watch movies on Netflix (had to do a little research to find the version that works on this but not a big problem). It has that a great screen. I did add Skinomi screen protector which takes care of the fingerprint problem on the screen. You can't even see fingerprints. Got a leather case and the Bluetooth keyboard on eBay. It allows me to stay connected anywhere I go. I have a Sprint EVO 4G with hot spot so no need for 3G in this. I am sooooooo happy!!

I'm reading that Flash is being abandoned due to HTML5.

I paid $22.99 for my case. It's a great deal for a very nice quality leather case.

I have to second Accelerator's recommendation for the AYL Slim Leather Case.

The materials and craftsmanship are top notch, and it adds very little bulk to the overall profile. It has a cut out so you can have it plugged in while closed... something sorely lacking on many cases.

At the price, you can hardly beat it.

Seriously - flash will still be supported by Adobe but not further developed. They will fix security flaws, provide patches, etc...just not work on new development

Flash currently works great on my Samsung Tab 10.1 so I'm not worried about this news.

I'm disappointed but satisfied with the current version of Flash that it'll get me by just fine until all of today's Flash sites are gone (a long time away).

The only thing on mine that distinguishes it from a non-refurb model is a little "refurbished by motorola" badge on the back. Otherwise, would never be-able to tell.

Refurbs aren't always broken when they come in - it might be as simple as a soccermom returning it because she really wanted an iPad.

Day #2 of loser tablets. At least this one is finally being sold at a realistic price.

About eight months ago I walked into Verizon with the intent of purchasing this baby. They had it on display next to the original iPad (which they were clearing out for $399 for 32gb) and the iPad2. I spent a longgg time playing on all three. My verdict... the iPad 2 was by far the best, the iPad 1 came in second, and the Xoom was third. It was also the most expensive by far!!

I walked out with the original iPad at $399.

Would I still purchase it over the Xoom if the Xoom was being sold for $329.99?? It all depends. If Motorola has NOT worked-out the numerous kinks and bugs that the Xoom initially had at it's launch, I would still buy the old iPad over it. But, if the frustrating problems have been overcome, then it might be a contender at the Woot price.

But hey... this thing is refurbished!!! We're still not comparing apples to apples here!!
