I am planning on making a restore disc before and after decrapifying if I can.

I tracked it through fed-ex as well. States estimate delivery date is Tuesday, November 22. I live in Pennsylvania. FYI. Thanks for the fed-ex look up info. I'm happy that i'll be getting this before thanksgiving.

Just did a little research. For those who know computers better, please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the safest way to get the laptop ready would be:

1. Make a recovery disk.

2. Burn a hard drive image.

3. Make a restore point on hard drive.

4. Decrapify then personalize laptop with your drivers and software.

5. If everything's working, burn another image and store it safely.

6. Make another restore point on hard drive.

7. Use restore point if installation of additional new software messes up the computer but you are still able to boot up.

8. Use recovery disk and hard drive image if you are unable to boot up computer.

Anything else I'm missing?

Well you have to read in context.
I meant what I said:
$600 > $750, or
"Six Hundred U$D is better value than Seven Hundred Fifty U$D"

That being said, Wishbones? Totally Fun! is mine? Not even a tracking # yet.

Did you try tracking on Fedex.com using the order number? I thought that mine hadn't shipped yet but I guess it's almost here! They just didn't update my woot account yet!

Used the tip to check tracking info on fedex.com Mine looks to have been shipped on Wednesday the 16th and will be in Illinois next Tuesday, the 22nd. Not bad... though I do remember wooting something that got shipped SmartPost and it DID take quite a while...

Though $5 for shipping a laptop is not the worst you can do...

It looks like all the orders have been shipped! Mine was shipped FedEx Home Delivery.

When I saw on the 16th when I tracked by reference that my laptop was on its way with a scheduled delivery for today (19th - Saturday) I called FedEx and asked them to hold it at my local location since no one would be at my work address where it was getting shipped.

When I woke up this am and checked to confirm that it was here in Knoxville I see that the last status update still says it is in Anaheim, CA :'(

If you are having trouble trying to get this laptop to update like I am, try doing this:
Ok from looking around in forums I found a fix to the windows update issue. Here's the link http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683 it downloads a MS fixit tool. I ran it with aggressive options enabled, then rebooted and now I can update. Hope that helps!
From the last time this laptop was on woot.

Got mine today

4 bags

Bag1:
Foam bag with laptop inside

Bag2:
Power block

Bag3:
Power cord for power block

Bag4:
Battery

Also there was a single sheet of paper explaining the 90 day warranty and other misc BS. Didn't bother even giving it a real skimming let alone read it

Then there was some tiny cut piece of paper saying some other stuff on it. Didn't read it either..

Thats it

No manual, no discs etc.. just what I mentioned above

The drive is partitioned to a hidden restore partition, C:\ is 271GB, D:\ is 406GB.

Best Buy bloatware is all over the Fing place...

I am not going to bother to keep the software, apps, OS, drivers or anything else like decrapify. Just installing 7 64bit Ultimate and calling it a day.

The machine is damn sexy looking though. I am glad it isnt one of the silver ones and this was the black/dark charcoal color. Very sleek. I'm at work now and doing a large transfer on it from one to another external drives. Once complete I'll be vaporizing it.

Now that I think about it, I will run a Windows7 system rating on it before and after and post my results later.

Thanks Woot!

Got mine in the mail on Saturday, but I'm having an issue. The computer cannot seem to locate the GeForce GT525m card. I've run dxdiag to find the card to no avail. Also, windows update seems to be having issues and wont' let me update, it keeps saying the service is not turned on. Any help would be much appreciate to alleviate these issues.

Thanks!

Taken from four posts or so up.

Now for the graphics card check your device manager and see if it is there. Go into my computer right click on the white background. Go to properties and then device manager. See if it is there?

Got the laptop and got to play around with it for a couple of days.

Seems like a common thing with the video card.
Tried play Battlefield 3 a few times and even on low settings it is very laggy.

Updated with the latest geforce drivers.
I blame the Nvidia Optimus tech... Seems to be constantly using the intel graphics instead of the geforce graphics. I have tried what I can do and still no solution. I played around with the nvidia control panel and even selected to run Battlefield 3 on the "high performance Nvidia graphics processor"

Anybody know any solutions? i just want to disable the intel graphics or just run the nvidia gpu as the main and defualt gpu for all programs.

I was having this same problem. You can not disable the intel graphics. Graphics is processed with the GPU and then sent to the Intel integrated chip and then to your screen.
Try disabling the nvidia 525 display adapter in Device Manager and playing the game. I was seeing better performance. I could never get it to work like it was supposed to. I sent my laptop into Samsung earlier this week and it will be a minimum of 3 weeks before I see it again.

So I've contacted service once about, what I see as, a small shipping address snafu on my end after realizing that Woot ships via FedEx Home Delivery vs. Shirt.Woot which ships via FedEx SmartPost.

Before anyone explains the differences, I did look up the information on the FedEx website. Just trying to save you all some time and breath.

I have not seen my order labeled as shipped and want to know what I can do or can be done to ensure that it gets shipped. I'm a little antsy to get my hands on this hardware.

Thanks!

Received my laptop yesterday. After backing up and deleting some bloatware. I checked for updates on everything important.

Loaded up the old Origin acct.... Bought Battlefield 3 on disk of course. I know the game is tricky cus you need Orgin open, plus a web browser. So multiple things can go wrong.

My problem is...
I cant get the game to boot up, it just looks for a quick match and no disk spins or screen flashes to be seen or heard. I would be heartbroken if i would have to send it back or get refund for a hardware issue.

So any suggestions or help to get the game going.

btw, tried shogun total war 2.SAme problem it never boots into the game either, even thought it gives all ques that it is. Plain sight on steam did work, not a very graphic intense game, but did run smooth for being a sporadic mess.

Thx, sorry i have a rambling addiction

Unfortunately that did not help. I feel like initially the system chooses the nvidia GPU but then reverts back to the intel. Even when I hooked up a VGA or HDMI monitor it does the same. I am wondering maybe its the driver and/or optimus issue... something that nvidia has to fix. Maybe I'll send it back to Samsung to see if they can fix anything, but since its not a hardware issue, more of a software issue it (time) may not be worth it.

*crosses fingers for a fast fix soon!*

My fedex tracking says that it is still in transit from california which started on the 17th. Also, it originally had a delivery date estimated for the 19th, which didn't happen and since the 19th rolled around there has been no estimated delivery date at all. Any one else having this problem or any staff members know what might be happening?

Here is a question for those of you that have received their Samsung Laptop: What security software (McAfee, Norton) came with the laptop and how long is it good for (60, 90 days?)? The reason I ask is that a lot of retailers have good deals (after rebates) on security software this month.

That's how fedex always is for me. Says it will be there one day then that day passes... So they update the arrival time to so many days later but still say it is on time. And their tracking is horribly updated sometimes not showing all the scans that happened in the past until it is delivered... Fedex is the worst shipping service in my opinion.....

Whatever it comes with uninstall it and install Microsoft Security Essentials. Best and totally free anti virus software.

Got mine on Saturday and spent most of the day deleting bloatware, updating windows and installing virus protection (Microsoft Security Essentials). Finally got around to installing CODMW2 yesterday and I must say I'm VERY disappointed.

Gameplay at first seemed ok, but 5 minutes into the game, the computer shut down. I believe it was due to overheating, the left side was extremely hot. Tried reducing the graphic detail to low, but that didn't help. I had updated the video driver using NVidia's drivers, so downloaded the original Samsung and tried again. Gameplay wa so slow as to be almost unplayable and 10 minutes into the game it shut down again.

I sent an email to Samsung and they responded by saying the games requirements exceeded the capability of the machine. REALLY? My machine shuts down because a piece of software is overpowering it?

I don't see a way to create restore disks, just a disk image. With the extremely slow data transfer rate of the dvd drive, that would take 72 hours. I'm going to install a cheap hard drive and do a clean install of Windows 7 and hope that clears things up. If not, I'll reinstall the original hard drive and try to return it. Will post back when I know.

BTW, I did a Windows Experience rating and the processor got a 4.6. My Gateway with a 2.3ghz tri core Phenom got a 6.1. So sad.

I tried that method with very very slight improvements. Its not saying much, the system was extremely laggy at the lowest setting in BF3.

Hoping to reinstall a fresh copy of windows home premium (windows product key at the bottom of the laptop) and save the nvidia driver for last. Hopefully this will solve some things... at least all the bloatware will gone .

Mine hasn't been shipped either. I emailed service@woot.com this morning, after waiting the appropriate 5 business days, and all they said was it was being drop shipped from the manufacturer, and that I should've waited 5 business days before bothering them. That's helpful...
I just want to be sure it's really coming before I miss the chance to get a deal on Black Friday.

This computer is f'ing amazing ! I decrapified it, installed all my software & drivers, and it is blazing fast! It also looks really slick and the screen size is perfect. I thought it would be too small as a desktop replacement, but it's just right. Those who were complaining about the resolution....I don't know what you're talking about because the words look clear with no aliasing and I have no trouble seeing everything I need to see to work on the computer. Blue ray plays super smooth on mine.

Oh, and for all those who are having trouble with your games, when you go to the start menu, right click on the icon for the game, click on "Run with graphics processor" and you can select whether to run it on "High Performance NVidia Graphics" or "Integrated Graphics." You can even change the default to the NVidia from that menu. Hope this helps anyone who's gaming with this awesome laptop.

though the viewing angle and contrast leave much to be desired, the resolution is completely fine.

Will probably test this out later but wondered if you would know off hand. So if you launch a game through steam lets say-will it go with the default you select through this method or will it ignore it and get confused about which setting to use?
