I just want to be sure it's really coming before I miss the chance to get a deal on Black Friday.

Yeah I emailed the service department twice asking about it being shipped to a PO box being an issue since FedEx doesn't ship to them normally. They just responded, in my opinion rather vaguely, saying that it could be shipped to a PO Box. On the second email it was explained that the product would be shipped to woot then shipped to me.

Wish I had known this when I placed the order, or at least had taken the time to have them change the shipping address to something that FedEx would have shipped to.

I got mine today. Honestly besides the tag saying refurbished it looks brand new. It feels like a new keyboard also, very clicky. The screen is bright and vibrant speakers are nice but could be louder. It's really fast for a laptop 6600 passmark cpu score and almost 500 on 3d benchmark on the graphics card.

I have no problems with the card either. Playing league of legends turned the card on automatically and it runs really smooth. I don't have any other graphically demanding games to try right now.

Mine came with some best buy bloat and a lot of samsung bloat. My HDD was partitioned into 3 drives c of 271gb d of 406gb and a hidden recovery partition.

Overall I am very happy with the laptop, looks and runs beautifully. It is so quiet I can't even hear it which is a very nice touch.

Hey everyone. I just got my laptop in and I'll have to say this is the most disappointed I have ever been with an online purchase.

Upon starting up the computer, the colors on the screen are completely augmented. The screen is all orange and any blue colors are barely at all visible. Originally, I thought it may be some odd settings with the hue and contrast. However, after hooking it up to an external monitor, it looked completely normal, showing that it is most likely a problem with the display on the laptop.

If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. I will be contacting Samsung first thing tomorrow morning.

I will have to say that I expected a lot more from Samsung, and from Woot.

Overall happy with my new laptop but one annoyance so far. Each time the laptop is started there is an application that is trying to install but never completes. I let it run overnight to see if it just needed time to finish but still running this morning. I can't figure out what program the installer is for. It simply says "Install" at top of window and "Installation may take several minutes" in the window. I have looked at the startup list in MSCONFIG but couldn't find anything obvious.

Anyone have a good sense of what bloatware is actually needed for this computer? I am tempted to try to just delete everything with the name Samsung in it but I am concerned my wifi might not work. Or the "turbo" for the cores might not work since there is some little program that hovers on the desktop that indicates when this is taking place. Any advice is appreciated. I nuked the antivirus and best buy already.

Its obviously defective, and do you know what you do with a defective product right? you contact RMA. This happens to everyone at some point. Did you look at how much inventory woot.com moved? They sell thousands of product and there's just no way they can check every laptop before it goes out. Samsung was supposed to do this step before it left their facilities. Heck, your issue could have arisen through shipping and handling. The fact is your issue is obviously remote to you. Deal with it without demeaning the parties that made it possible to sell you such a great laptop for such a big discount. The situation sucks but I haven't had any issues at all.

I received mine yesterday - I bought two. Cosmetically, they're nice - can't tell they're refurbs.

Software wise, upon startup, one laptop immediately gave me the 'Windows Failed to Load Properly' error screen. I selected 'Load Windows Normally' and it seemed to work fine. Lots of bloatware and no Windows 7 media. I wiped the drive and reinstalled Win 7: following these instructions to get an install DVD. The Windows 7 Home Premium key is on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

I had to download the drivers from: the Samsung support website.

I was disappointed to see one of the power adapters fail right out of the box. I'm not sure how to get this fixed. Any feedback on this besides email service@woot.com?

All in all, it was a good buy and I'm happy with the purchase after 4 hours or so of use.

Following up on my earlier post.

Replaced the hard drive with a new 7200RPM model and did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium. Installed all the latest drivers and tested, still weak on processor (4.6). Ran CODMW2 and again it shut down.

Just got off the phone with tech support, they referred me to the company responsible for doing the refurbs. Called them and since they're local (Ft Worth) will be dropping it off on Monday. The lady said they actually refurbed this laptop, hope they get it right this time.

For those who will need to know, don't call Samsung for warranty repair. Call Intellisol at 817-230-5230. They'll want the model and S/N and you'll need to print a copy of the Woot sales receipt.

Got mine today, woot!
Laptop arrived very clean. This one appears to have been a floor model from a big box retailer with the initials BB.

I was surprised that there was very little junkware pre-loaded. It had the usual Norton and crappy Gameware, but aside from that, I was working with a clean system and empty HD (which was pre-partioned) after minimal uninstalls.

I updated my browser and a few other system settings. What i was NOT able to do was update Windows. I got a 'Windows Update cannot currently check for updates...'.

>>> The answer was easily remedied in the second post of THIS FORUM, whereby you essentially remove the 'edb' file. Have a look.

Once I was able to update Windows, there were 63 important updates and 5 optional updates needed to be made to the computer. Not too bad considering no updates had been made to the computer since its creation in January.

Hope this helps!!

We got our yesterday. Its a nice system, however after just a few seconds of running 3d games, I get a bluescreen that seems to be caused by the video card (nvlddmkm.sys).

Anyone else having any problems like this? I've upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers, upgraded the Bios, and still having problems. I'm worried the video card may be defective :\

I just booted up mine first time and it didn't take me through any windows 7 installation routines. Is that normal with others? Windows 7 is all installed and ready to go? Kind of strange as I was expecting it will go through an install process.

Do we have a reinstallation partition? If I want to reinstall windows from scratch, will I have to get a Windows DVD first? Thanks,

I'm having the same issue as well. I've tried a myriad of drivers including the one that came with the laptop, the upgraded one from the Samsung website and a couple from Nvidia's site. Is it safe to say that this is an issue with the laptop because it is only happening to some at not all laptops?

Well forgot to run the test as promised earlier before wiping the system, Oh well. So I formatted into one partition and put 7 Ultimate on it.

Not much you can do about that intel 3000 GPU in the i7. Anyway, I removed the 6 gigs of ram that came with it and added the 8 gig AData kit from Newegg called XPG gaming series DDR3 1600 which is higher clocked. I also updated the BIOS to the latest version since this ram is 1.3v instead of 1.5v like the rest. Some have said that some notebooks are troublesome getting this memory to run at the SPD speed and it will default to the lower speed. Anyway, it works perfectly. And made a nice bump to the ram index. This is a system with no tweaks and using all of the intel drivers posted on the Samsung site. Now I plan on going out and getting the latest ones from Intel and potentially putting a 256 SSD in here and using the 750 as an external... we'll see

I'm not sure what's happening there, but my systems are showing a graphics score of 5.7

I used pcdecrapifier to delete pretty much everything; ran my usual ninite script; changed the power plan to High Performance; and deleted the edb.log file to run Windows Update.

I bought 3 of these and they are all similar to the above commenters: first start get the Windows failed to load message; Windows update error until deleting the edb.log file and annoying BB program runs at startup until manually uninstalled (didn't show up in pcdecrapifier's list).

Overall I'm happy. I have an old SSD drive from a past woot that hasn't been installed yet, I might try that in one of these and see how much it improves things. (Similar drive gets a 7.2 on my desktop.)

HP has the same spec system brand new for $699. Only difference:
It doesn't have Blue Ray but does has 8GB RAM.
You have to use coupon NBDT5966 to get it for $699. Might be a good option if you didn't get this woot or if you have a return.

It looks like they have your package and it's being held at your local FedEx terminal. I found your email contact FedEx in the meantime to do a trace on the package. We'll also reply to your email with further instructions.

I'm looking into maxing the RAM w/ 2x4gb 1.35V sticks, and find that there are 2 options widely available (both certified as compatible at crucial.com):

1.35V DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) w/ CL=11
1.35V DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600) w/ CL=9

They are roughly equivalent in performance, with the DDR3-1333 having about 1-2% better performance.

I found a pair of 1.35V DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) w/ CL=9. That's fast speed WITH low latency, best of both worlds. But is it compatible with this PC? Will I need a BIOS upgrade? Anyone have any experience with this issue?

That memory should work. I don't know if you need a BIOS update but I would upgrade your BIOS just to be on the safe side. I update my BIOS just to have the latest one.

I went the "cheap" route and just replaced the 2GB module with a 4 GB one for $20. Here is the one that I used:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139190

I have noticed a slight performance improvement with 8 GBs of memory.

Okay, so I've had this for about two and a half weeks now.

The first week it was brilliant, perfect, couldn't ask for anything better.

Since December 1, it's been randomly shutting off, just BAM in the middle of doing things. No BSoD, no warning - just shut down. It almost seems to happen at random. What in the Sam Hill is going on?

Is anyone else having this issue? And if so, what did you do to fix it? It's really, really making me angry because I bought this as a replacement for my dying laptop with the hopes that it would be a solid, dependable machine. Instead I'm out a lot of money that was hard to pull together, and instead I'm left with an unreliable POS.

Please, help!

Agreed. I do this anyway, but was wondering if I'd HAVE to do it to get faster clock speed with the lower latency. I updated to the latest over the weekend, so will see what happens!

I considered this, but want to go 1.35V to maximize chances of long life (lower heat output from the RAM). Will cost $40-50, but, eh, tis the season for frivolous spending...

brosen1 wrote:I have noticed a slight performance improvement with 8 GBs of memory.

I'm curious what I'll see at 1.35V and 2x4gb. My system is already at around 1.3gb at idle after boot. Considerably more than Win7 32-Bit. And, yes, I did de-crappify and remove all Best Buy and Samsung bloatware, and verify clean startup with AutoRuns.exe. I'm looking forward to 6gb for apps vs the 4gb I have now...

Yes! As a matter of a fact my wife's laptop has done this twice in less than two days. She literally wasn't doing anything at all, and it just shut off. I'm going to check it out when she gets home from class this evening and make sure it's got the latest bios updates and what not. For the most part it worked fine up until the past 72 hours.

Seriously, if anyone has any insight into why this issue could be occurring, please chime in!

Well, other than BIOS updates, I'd recommend removing all Samsung bloatware. All the fast-start, battery maximiser, etc... rubbish can be removed. I have yet to meet a person who needed those things (ie, Windows 7 should do it all just fine for you). The only things I'd leave on there are USB 3.0 drivers, BluRay software/codecs, and maybe the Backup software (though, you can delete the start-up from the task scheduler list, no need for it to run all the time).

Other than that, make sure the battery is seated firmly, and as a last resort, check the RAM seating.

BIOS is updated. I'll try removing all the rest of the Samsung crap later on tonight - according to Windows event log, I keep getting 'Kernel-Power' errors at the time of the lockup/shutdown, but that just tells me 'oh Windows shut down unexpectedly'. Which is a pain.

Heat tolerances seem to be just fine, too. This is very annoying.

The new laptop won't charge. When you hover over the battery indicator it says plugged in, not charging. This happened to me once before on a different laptop when I had the wrong power adaptor. I check on-line, and as far as I can tell, the generic power cord/adaptor that came with the laptop should be ok.
Model AD-9019S,
input: 100-240V ~1.5A, 50-60 Hz
output: 19Vdc, 4.74A

Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas? Any way to tell if it is the hard drive or the power adaptor?

Thanks
