Could you please tell me how to tether my droid to the tablet. Samsung says it can't be done.

One thing I'm surprised hasn't been brought up is about an "oil slick" issue with these tablets. Seems to be pretty heavily reported. Makes me worry about these refurbished ones, hopefully they are the ones that have been sent back and fixed.

You need the beta version of "Android wifi Tether" - depending which phone you have it may be in the 3_1.beta6 or you may need one of the newer builds.

http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list

However it does require root /superuser to use.

I did it with my Kindle Fire no problem.

What cable would I need to connect a Samsung Fascinate to this to tether. Samsung chat says it can't be done.

Don't you have to use a cable from the phone to the tablet? That's how I tether for my netbook. Can you do Bluetooth?

Just stick it in the freezer and the issue clears up. it will be annoying if it happens, but pretty easy fix. Don't let the tab overheat.

they make an adapter that gives you a USB port through the Samsung port. looks pretty slick.

i have a tethering question as well.

i have a non-android nokia phone with BT and 3G. i tethered the phone to other things via BT, can it be done with android?

again the purpose is to use phone's 3G on androids tablet. not the other way around. is there an app for that?

No this turns your phone's wifi into a wifi hotspot.

Some carriers may or may not notice and or complain or charge you, especially if you use it a lot. I use it sparingly myself.

There are some bluetooth tether things out there but I have had varying successes with them.

Doesn't the device come with a cable & male USB connector? Get a female-female USB adapter for a few bucks.

How can we learn when the Galaxy Tab will be shipped, and whether there's a tracking number? Maybe it'll come via e-mail, but I can't find any discussion re shipping. TIA.

Normally you recieve a woot order tracking e-mail within a day or two of your order with the tracking number and a link to see the status.

Okay so I saw many posts regarding the memory options for a Galaxy and using a usb card reader to expand the memory on them but I just have to ask why why and again why????

You can upgrade your memory, hookup to your HDTV, or even throw up to a 128gb SD card right into a Toshiba Thrive with no dongles adapters or other purchases required dollar for dollar the Thrive's offer one of the best if not the best Bang for your buck Tablet's on the market currently... I know they are an 1/8 of an inch thicker and dont say Samsung or Apple on them but if you are buying one for useability and cost efficiency not to mention to actually have an SD SLOT, a Full-size HDMI port , A full size USB and a Mini-Usb port then there isn't another tablet you can get that touches the Thrive atm...

They have the Tegra 2 processors as much on board ram and they are running Honeycomb 3.1 just like the Galaxy is so $ for $ you cant beat them in my opinion!

Just food for thought!

So what happens in the 5 days between the time you get my money and the time the tablet hits the mail chute? Is Woot really operated by a group of monkeys in capes?

They DO have to ship over four thousand of these, all while shipping the previous woots and preparing for the future ones. It takes a bit of time.

I bought the Kindle Fire before I saw this, and decided I'd be returning the Kindle and buying one of these instead.

The Kindle Bad: no bluetooth, no memory card slot, no camera. It's really just a fancy ebook reader with the added functionality of a browser and media player.

I see no point in keeping the Kindle

to further explain for everyone. its an itunes service that lets you upload your music without any hidden fees or costs. you can also purchase music just as u can on itunes.

not to nit pick... but it its still in beta. but it does work very very very well. took me three days to upload 8k songs (50 gigs). it also converts your music to mp3 for ya as you upload and has a 'high quality' stream option for those streaming on wifi or unlimited data.

after uploading... it will stream all music to any pc, mac, laptop, macbook, tablet, or smartphone. you can also download any of your music to any of said devices for offline listening when you dont have a internet connection.

it truly is the best thing that has happened with all the new cloud services.

No. the wifi means you can use it anywhere without the need for a data plan. If it said 3g or 4g then you would need a data plan.

well, this auction is for a galaxy, not a thrive. there are pros and cons for each, for me, having to attach a dongle whenever i want USB is annoying, but not a killer. your also ignoring that the thrive is $50 more. not much, but noticable. also, the thrive is thick and heavy. so: more money, thicker, heavier, extra ports. doesn't come close to tipping the scales.

but then again, everyone chearleads for the device they have bought, so the Galaxy Tab is the most awesome device on the planet!

Searched around on Black Friday online for a good tablet deal (wasn't *about* to actually get out in the madness) ... strike one. Spent the first two hours at work on Cyber Monday looking around online for a deal ... strike two. And then lo and behold on just plain ol' Tuesday, I lucked into this sweet deal from Woot!! I'm jazzed!
