So you've clicked the area above the Submit button and typed in the corresponding numbers? Was the submit button disabled?

Are you on Android or iOS? I've only ever tried it in FF, Chrome, and IE.

I was using Chrome and Firefox and still nothing. But yes I typed in the numbers provided and the button was still unavailable.

edit: Just tried IE and no success with it either.

So, are there actually people using bots to get a Burgundy Olfactory Center or are people just unwilling to accept that they were not favored by the gods of Woot?

I have to rely on one, w--talyzer got me to the buy screen fast and before the F5 would.
Otherwise my boss would be buying me a new keyboard once a month.

I use wooters.us, and have scored the last 4 bags in a row. All it does is press the 'I want one' button as soon as it comes up. I still have to go through the whole purchase process like everyone else.

People are their own worst enemy hitting the F5 button, multiple tabs, etc.

Here's the trick: Click 'I want one'...wait...wait...wait... enter your cc info, click 'Buy it'....wait....wait....wait Click the stupidly large button....wait....wait....wait Done.

Never F5 until the browser gives up waiting. Then, F5 ONCE and wait it out again.

Think about it like this: It's like people waiting in line to get a black friday deal. The F5ers are constantly sending themselves to the back of the line over and over. Once you're in the queue, stay there and be patient.

The Great Oracle disagrees on both points, though I myself say BBQ grill:

The term as a noun can refer to the meat, the cooking apparatus itself (the "Barbecue grill" or simply "Barbecue") or to a party that includes such food or such preparation methods. The term as an adjective can refer to foods cooked by this method. The term is also used as a verb for the act of cooking food in this manner.

I have a question . . .

My last bag had the following:

1x very bright reusable bag
2x small women's t-shirts
1x Flying monkey with smiley cape

Did I only technically get 2 items or do the 2 shirts make it 3?

Well I bet they are complaining about using the woot tracker to get you to the buy screen first.

I have gotten 3 bags of crap, my first one wasnt a traditional Bag of Coal, it was woot off lights with a 1 in 10 chance for a Bag of Coal, and it worked out that my order was 1 of 10, my second one, I got it last december in the traditional way, F5'd my heart out til I hit the buy it now, and made it through, I won one this time, using the web tracker with mywoot.

One of the biggest keys that has stopped me in the past is just not being signed in before hand, I have since been trying to sign in everytime I look at woot, so my cookies are always current. because even in non wootoff time, the slowest part of the process always seems to be signing into woot.

The Woot overlords are not vampires (well, they do suck a lot of money out of me), they do their crappiest work during daylight hours. Every Woot-off Burgandy Olfactory Center I have ever seen in my 5+ years of woot addiction has occurred between 2-5 CST on either the second or third day.

Of course, there are variations in venue. Once they posted the B'o'C on the happy hour site (missed that one entirely). The other three crappiest days on Christmas, April Fools Day, and Woot's birthday all begin at midnight.

Woot is hardly predictable, but there is a pattern to their devious behavior (the Burgandy Olfactory Center usually arrives after a painfully long wait on a Woot-off killer item like those cameras).

A very good summary of crap-rich times there, I just have to make one small remark in the name of full correctness. There have been one day wootoffs and BоC's were offered on day one then (though as of recent history most wootoffs are 2-3 days indeed). So completely sleeping through the crappy prime time hours on first day may cost you saving $8.

Yeah, it's mind boggling to see people complaining that they couldn't get the BOC because they couldn't log in. Further, I always click on "I want one!"; click "I want 2", "I want 3", and "I want 1"; enter my security code; click "this info is correct"; then abort by clicking "today's woot" in order to make sure any common images and scripts included in the pages are cached.

I don't think that getting in immediately is as important as people think. I got this last BOC when my wife came into the garage and said "I think your alarm is going off".

Sure, you can't wait minutes but at the very most being First Click is only going to get the first page before the self-inflicted DDOS attack hits. It's really more-or-less of a crap shoot whose IP packets are received and whose are dropped. I think most people take themselves out of the running by ill-timed F5's.

Another predictable thing is the Woot-off killer around lunch time CST, especially on the day of the Burgandy Olfactory Center Woot's basically saying, "Hey, relax. Go get some lunch, and give your F5 button a break."

While we are debating the methods of Burgandy Olfactory Center acquisition, I'd have to disagree here. I don't use any of tools to get the first step done automatically (just the old fashioned F5 method plus Woot Watcher in Chrome). I always use the multiple tabs method. Purchasing is not a mere line-up queue. I've landed 3 Burgandy Olfactory Center this year (January, June, December) and for two of them, it hasn't been my first tab that made it through.

On Tuesday, I ran 6 or 7 woot.com tabs. The first three made it to the ordering screen (and I put in information for all of them), but it was the third order entry that made it through to success (as best I can tell, the other two screens gave server errors and the third went all white).

There's an element of just flat-out lucky timing here, too.

I seem to remember years ago a couple Burgandy Olfactory Center#39;s that occurred early morning. Something like 2 or 3 AM EST. There was no time frame, it would just appear and you had to be ready.

People would constantly push you to buy the current item to get to the next and see if it was a bag. Sometimes it would appear 2 or three times in a wootoff.

People complained of watching for 2 days straight and never getting one, so I think they chose to make it a little more predictable. I don't mind the time frame, I wouldn't mind seeing one in the middle of the night, and I wouldn't mind a couple smaller batches throughout a wootoff. You never know when they're going to change it up again.

I actually tried turning off the images in IE this time. I got a Burgandy Olfactory Center but who knows if having no images helped. It still took a few refreshes on stalled pages to get through. I haven't scored one since May though.

I like the timing just fine. Being across the street from WOOT HQ the 3 - 6 CST works great for me. I know I will be at my desk for a minimum of 4 a year and possibly more if the travel budget gets cut. One of the few positives of the bad economy. In the Office instead of on the road and potential for more Bananas or Cherries

Regarding the timing of the Burgandy Olfactory Center - I don't think its programmed to be set at a certain time- but instead as i assume that there is a cue of items that the computer just runs thru in order on a woot-off, and they place the Burgandy Olfactory Center strategically that they sell enough in the woot-off from the items before hand to help pay for the Burgandy Olfactory Center - because how much do you think the site traffic drops after the Burgandy Olfactory Center appears- and the time that the Burgandy Olfactory Center turns up is probably just based on how well everything else sells... thats why the 4 times I've gotten a Burgandy Olfactory Center in the last year it has varied by 3 to 4 hours- I tell that a Burgandy Olfactory Center is coming up soon because it seems that there are a bunch of fast selling low quantity items that go incredibly quick and then one or two slightly fast items right before the woot-off, this is why I think it has more to do with a cue than a deliberate timing

There is only one event on my memory that matches your description. It was April Fool's event a few years back. There was a pseudo-wootoff, when each new item was exactly the same item as one before with differently written name and different narrative and picture. Between those items a BоC made 4 appearances throughout the day. But it was the same sale broken down into pieces. So you could not buy all four.

As to regular wootoff, as far as I recall - it's usually around 2-6pm Eastern time. And it's not absolutely guaranteed to show up on the last day of wootoff. There's been at least one time, when BоC showed up (at proper time) on day 2 of a three-day wootoff.
