Check the manufacturers warranty. We had one bad lid. They asked us to take a picture of it and just email the picture. Got a new lid within reasonable shipping time.

I like these, but the problem is the other one is into so many silly containers I simply hate it. Pick a container so I can throw out all of our ziploc vacuum bags, ziploc toss away boxes, pyrex, whatever. I've got three drawers full of three different container systems. I've started just covering everything with tin foil because I don't want to spend 20 minutes finding lids.

Honey, I love you to death, but PICK ONE STUPID STORAGE SYSTEM AND ALLOW ME TO RECYCLE ALL OF THE OTHER ONES SO WE CAN GET SOME STORAGE BACK.

I second that the sizes are small. Got the last set off here not too long ago. I was hoping to replace all my old plastic ware-but I had to keep all the square containers for sandwiches.
Oh well-I still LoVe the product!

Are all of the Lock & Lock sets like this, or do some come in actually usable sizes?

Those sizes are very usable in our home. I use the smaller sizes to store vegetables that I've pre-chopped, fresh spices, garlic, fruits (i.e. a partially used lemon), extra cooked rice or pasta, cheese, sticks of butter, homemade hummus and other spreads, dips, etc.

A HINT
If I'm storing very odorous or greasy foods, I sometimes line the container with cellophane wrap. It's even great for liquids like spaghetti sauce. The lid can go over the plastic, making storage still airtight. Simply throw out the wrap when the food is consumed. That way, there is no clean up of the container except for the lid.

These are indeed one of the best, if not the best, containers.

However, I was hoping for bigger containers as these are quite small. The biggest one is only 78oz (9cups). Great deal, if one is looking for these sizes.

Actually 24 of the 32 pieces (12 lids plus 12 containers) are 12oz or less. 4 pieces are over 12oz in this $19.99 set while 5 pieces were over 12oz in the $14.99 set from previous Woot. Not saying this isn't a good deal but last offering seems like a better value.

Foil isn't airtight or liquid tight, and you can't freeze or microwave with it. I think it's also reactive with some foods, i.e. acidic stuff. And dirty foil can't be recycled (actually it can but our sanitation department says to throw them out).

After years of struggling with a hodgepodge of miscellaneous food storage containers, I bought two sets of these last time they were wooted -- one set to use and one set in reserve to serve as replacements if/when necessary. Some of the best money I have ever spent. I am quite happy with the purchase. Even my persnickety wife is satisfied with them.

Last month before Thanksgiving, Lock&Lock had a 50% off sale on all products listed on their entire website. To me, it was like a BOGO deal. I got containers for holding cereal, vegetables and other large items. And the shipping fee was based on your total purchase AFTER the discount. After the smoke cleared, what would have cost me $160 was actually almost $80 and shipping was only $7 instead of $15! The containers are great and easy to use. I also use Pyrex, but they can be heavy when carried to work or to a party. This Woot is a good deal to try them out. If you don't like them, give them away as Xmas presents.

Since the cellophane isn't used for longterm storage or heated to the point of boiling, leeching really isn't a problem. Nor is it reused. Leeching is a problem with reheating repeatedly, that's why most frozen food containers say to throw them out and not reuse. It's also a theoretical risk with very longterm storage, i.e. cans. When I store leftovers, it's only for a day or two.

Also, not all cellophane wraps have BPA.

Somewhat. They're not sloped, so you can't stack the same size containers inside each other. But you can fit several smaller ones fit inside the larger containers.

I like them. They are well made and work ok.

HOWEVER THEY ARE VERY SMALL!

Look at the dimensions... most of these aren't good for storing more than a small leftover.

These aren't good for packing lunch, etc. They are good for packing desert and very small leftovers.

Now that I think about it, this set may be better for storing spices, rather than food.

Ok, i'll bite. Which spice do you need 9.5 cups of? 6.6 cups still seems pretty big for a spice. 5.8 cups may work for Basil.... 3.3 cups seems about right for leftover soup. 1.5 cups could handle a pasta leftover nicely. I do grant you that the other three sizes may be nice for sides, and/or Dirt, if you wanted to consolidate your containers and were "in for three" when it showed up...

No, you're paying extra for the magic red lids. The previous set had unmagical blue lids.

I'm mostly kidding but last week, a Pyrex website had identical sets of storage ware in blue and red lids. The blue lid set was cheaper. Go figure...

The small sizes are good for packed lunches. They can hold things like condiments, dips, and nuts or dried fruit. Also, they can be used to keep ingredients separate until consumption, such as for salads.

It is generally not a good idea to microwave food in a plastic container. It may not have BPA but you don't know what else will be leaching into the food. Please, take the time to put the food on a ceramic plate first.

It's thick flexible plastic so you can drop them without cracking or denting.

I wish they had containers sized between the 12oz and the 27oz in this set... My most used lock&locks are between 6oz and 23oz. I use those every day for leftovers, taking food to work, and storing snack foods, loose tea bags, etc. The 6oz size gets used to take a few handfuls of candy to work and storing smaller items (such as a few gum packages) in my cabinet... it's a small, but useful size.

The 54oz and 27oz are less used, but I can put a whole package of rice noodles or sandwich cookies in them and they'll stay fresh.

My largest ones are used for storing rice, breads, or things I get in bulk.

If you keep an open mind, you can find non-food storage uses for these too.

I guess for me, the smaller and mid sized ones are handier than the larger but your mileage may vary.

This is a good set with a good variety of containers, but is unfortunately missing the mid-sizes many would find the most useful.

20-30 minutes of raging through drawers trying to find a lid that fits, or 2 seconds pulling off a sheet of tin foil and covering the bowl to toss in the fridge. You do the math.

There's no reason to believe that a ceramic plate is any less chemically dangerous than these plastics. Glazes can also leech. Cheap ceramics from China and Mexico have been found to be toxic, i.e. lead. Basically, if you're using quality plastics, glass or ceramics, I wouldn't worry -- especially for reheating.

We don't have that problem because we color code the lids with color Sharpie™ markers. Basically, we draw a large color circle in the corner of the lids and containers. You can put a small piece of clear duct tape over the color dot if i gets rubbed off. It hasn't taken us more than 10-15 seconds to find a lid. We also store the lids in a plastic bag in the drawer so they stay together.

There is also no reason why you can't store these containers with their lids on or nearby. For example, several small containers with their lids on can fit inside the largest one, also with its lid on. That's how my mom does it.

We used to do the foil or Saran wrap thing too, but they weren't stackable and our fridge is always full.

Yeah, I gave some holiday cookies to my secretary one year with one of these containers. At the end of the day, I saw the container in the garbage can. I guess she thought that they were disposable. Call me stingy, but I took the container out of the trash and brought it back home to reuse.

Wow, if they were selling that set today (even at $19.99), I'd buy it. Those are much more usable sizes for me. That answers my question: Lock & Lock does make sets with only larger containers, and Woot sells them.

I doubt that Woot has much to do with the sets; I'd imagine that Lock & Lock offers Woot a price on a specific set of their containers, and Woot either accepts the price or not. I doubt that any Woot purchasers are putting together custom sets in order to put one over on their customers. (I was a purchaser for both a nationwide reseller and a distributor in a previous life, and in that position you just don't have time to do things like that.) Some of the commenters here prefer the smaller sizes, and for them this is probably a better deal than the one in August. For me, not so much.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep my eye out for a set with larger containers.

You might consider a set of those stretchy As-Seen-on-TV vacuum lids. They're somewhat expensive on Amazon and are not as miraculous as the commercials claim -- but they do work. They're cheaper on eBay and even cheaper in Dollar Stores, where I bought mine.
