Poll: Trivial Pursuit is...
  • 10.9% - ...the most fun you can have sitting around a table. 130
  • 28.5% - ...enjoyable, but nothing to take too seriously. 340
  • 18.4% - ...a painless way to pass the time at family gatherings and whatnot. 219
  • 17.4% - ...better than watching paint dry, I guess. 208
  • 17.7% - ...just a way for know-it-alls to show off. 211
  • 7% - ...a depressing, pathetic waste of human effort. 84

Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

My favourite Trivial pursuit card is still the one that had "Edwina Curry" as the answer to every question.

So far all responses to this survey from "real people" include the words "Edwina Curry" too.

Trivial Pursuit is... passé

My parents would always get together with their friends and play Trivial Pursuit. I'm pretty sure they had just the original version. I remember trying to play it a few times growing up, but it would take forever since it was designed for the Baby Boomer generation and not me and my siblings (Generation X/Y).

Trivial pursuit can be a really enjoyable game if you have the right group and the right version. I have fond memories of it growing up. However, it can also be an aggravating waste of a good evening.

Haven't played in years, I don't even know anyone who own's it anymore. Used to be pretty fun before smartphones and the internet. I can't imagine trying to play it now--everyone's off googling the answer before the question's asked.

It sounds like you have the wrong friends. I'm in the Venn diagram intersection of "use my iPhone for almost everything" and "enjoy Trivial Pursuit and other trivia" games but I'd never mix the two (except for my just-now-invented "iPhone search trivia quiz" app).

When I read the survey I thought "Trivial Pursuit" meant "meaningless effort"

Then when I read the responses it dawned on me "Ohhhh, it's that game I've never played"

My family plays cool games like Settlers of Catan and Munchkin.

Trivial Pursuit is Canadian?

Darn! I don't like it anymore and it used to be one of my favourite games!

/ and yes- I am kidding so no need to send for the Canadian Mafia to my house (to tie my leg to a block of bacon scented cement and drop me in a river of maple syrup).

I'd rather they hold the syrup and give me whipped cream instead to be honest. Smell of maple syrup makes me want to vomit.

I can think of no worse punnishment than the Cannadian Mafia drowning me in syrup.

Is Vermont syrup Maple syrup from Vermont- or is it something special? If it is still made from maple- it still isn't any good.

...just a way for know-it-alls to show off.

But my family hates it when *I'm* the know-it-all!

I like it because I win. I'm very, very trivial.

Needed the option, "Don't know...never played it."

Love Trivial Pursuit. Best when played with teams.

Well, another day has passed and I didn't use algebra once.
