One begins by properly utilizing the capital letter in one's own writing for a set trial period (currently, it hovers around two to three weeks, but I don't know exactly--they tend to change it up randomly). Once one has proven a facility with the correct usage of capitals, one submits a Capital Request through the Woot Capital Release System page. One waits for the proper departmental review and assertion that capital usage has been exact and correct throughout the trial. One then receives an email (generally about 3-8 days business days after intial request) with either denial or approval of the Capital Request.
If denied, one has the opportunity to reapply every 3 months, starting dates being determined according to the fiscal quarterly calendar.
Approval emails provide a Capital Code, to be applied in the appropriate section within one's "my account" area. And then--voila!--one is now empowered to have capitals within one's username.
You should probably start using capitals correctly in your posts, like, RIGHT NOW if you want to be approved. Maybe even go back and correct all your previous posts before the capital approval department gets to checking you.

Or, well... I dunno, brah. Stuff's wonky and all, yeah?

One might find it advisable to consider whether one is ready for the Capital Request process. Is one sure that one's writings correctly demonstrate the proper knowledge and use of the capital letter? Enough to pass official review? One might choose to take some time to ponder on, review, and correct this before asking for the Woot Capital Release System page link, were one so inclined to wisdom...

Or, also... you know... trololol?

Goldenthorn is my new favorite non-staff woot writer.

Matthew, buddy, if I'm not mistaken, you have to sign up with your username including the caps when you register for the first time. Or they could be migrant usernames from an older forum system.

I think it's basically be happy with the letters you have whether they be upper or lowercase.

Although I liked GT's explanation better.

When I first signed up in the dawn of the new era, there was a fill-in box that asked how do you want your user name to appear in the forums. Perhaps things are different now or maybe you missed this feature when you signed up.

I just made the above user name and checked all over for the use of caps in usernames, so it looks as if woot changed something.

that was fun while it lasted!

I understand that picking your pseudonym on a new site can be very stressful and important-seeming and totally freak-out-able. I get it. I do! But let's just get it done and over with. Strength! Resolve! Communication!
So, woot no longer allows the use of capitals. Ok. That's established. Immutable. Done. Your choices moving forward? Live with what you have or make a new account with the spaces you want, aka z0mg_y0!_1ik3_ham5t3r5aywu7. And that's it. Your options. Choose one of them. Or both. Or neither. The end. Problem solved. PROBLEM SOLVED? OCH! MISTLETOE FRENCHING? GROSS! I'M A PROBLEM SOLVER LOOKIT ME SOLVING PROBLEMS WHOOAHAHAHAHAhahahaha... you're welcome.
