Putting in the hard disk was no problem, however my hard disk seems to be continuosly spinning. Something wrong with my hd or is it supposed to be this way?
I noticed a lot of people are having this problem. I thought I had the same problem as well, and then I checked the second box of cameras and low and behold, the power supply for all of the cameras was hiding in there. So if you think you don't have the 8 way power splitter for the cameras, check the second box and make sure it's not hiding there.
I got mine hooked up over the weekend, hard drive installation was simple as can be, my cover wasn't held on with screws either, don't know if this means it was refurbished or not, but so far it doesn't matter, the system is working well and remote viewing was pretty simple to setup. If you enable the email alarm detection you will receive an email with a jpg snapshot of what caused the alarm. With 8 cameras, and motion detection that is set off by so much as a spec of dust however, my inbox was quickly flooded with emails, so i turned it off. Also, if you're like me and you ISP blocks smtp traffic on port 25, you can configure port triggering on your router to enable traffic on smtp to be forwarded to the proper port ala 465 for something like ssl gmail.
Also, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get remote viewing on my android phone, internet explorer works fine, does anyone have any ideas on android phones?
